The blue silver tabby tom was not supposed to be here. Well, he doubted his fellow clanmates would have really cared that he was here or not, but it wasn't as if he had sought permission to be here or informed anyone that he was coming here.
Perhaps it was better that nobody knew, he rationalised in his head. After all, he was not here as a DuskClan cat - he had made sure to mask his scent so on the off chance he was encountered, nobody could accuse him of such He was here not as Gorseshade but simply Gorse, a cat of no clan, no rank, no opinion but his own. It was oddly freeing in a way, though Gorseshade knew better than to admit that out loud. He knew for a fact that if anyone back at camp knew he was out here, even just contemplating the idea of leaving DuskClan to be his own cat, he was likely to get attacked or worse. For now, though, he could just enjoy his time out here.
Although his clanmates would not have thought twice about trespassing, Gorseshade was planning on doing so, perfectly content observing the scent line and just admiring the territory. The young tom had just caught himself a healthy squirrel and was beginning to tuck into it when he suddenly heard a twig snap nearby. Immediately, he stopped eating, looking around with panic, half expecting a full patrol to burst out and accuse him of stealing. Luckily for him, it turned out not to be a patrol, but a singular she-cat. She did not seem much of a threat, but then again neither did he, as skinny as he was, but that did not stop him from putting a paw warily on the squirrel as if expecting her to dart across and steal it. "I caught this fairly," He said calmly. "I have not stolen from you."
