PREVIOUSLY. chose his own name due to an injury in the great battle.
──── /ɡrāv/ noun, a place of burial for a dead body, typically a hole dug in the ground and marked by a stone or mound. an allusive term for death. a place where a broken or discarded object lies. "the ones who living come today / to read the stones and go away / tomorrow dead will come to stay." robert frost.
──── age is unknown, though he is fully grown and can be assumed to be a young adult. born at the end of winter.
──── amab. they - them - theirs, or he - him - his, with neutral pronouns heavily favored alongside masculine titles.
──── a warrior of shadowclan, and long-time member of the marsh group before this. as best as anyone can tell, they were born in the marsh and has lived there this entire time. loyal, as far as any know.
──── black smoke with abnormal low white and pale blue eyes. a long, thin scar runs along the right side of their face. his tail is long and rather thin, with a large, tufted end. though abnormally tall, they are lanky and nearly gaunt. -
sleek and willowy, heavy and broad– graves is neither and both of these simultaneously. though his shoulders are broad and hint at power, the lithe, willowy sweep of his body betrays the strength. he moves with the athletic certainty and practice of one accustomed to movement, yet something about him is...off. be it the low droop of his shoulders and head, or the awkward bend of a paw not quite touching the earth, he is unsettling– strange. beneath thick fur lies a gaunt, lanky form guarded by an uncomfortable strength, deep smoke wreathing around his frame, twisting and curling above each inelegant placement of his paws.
──── medium-furred (genetically long) black smoke with low white and pale, near-colorless blue eyes. heterozygous curled ears and a long, flowing tail that tufts out towards the tip. each of his paws has one extra toe.

the bulk of graves exists in areas of neutrality. a sort of middleground, a nothingness. they are not particularly pleasant or unpleasant, kind or unkind, thoughtful or thoughtless. though attentive and clever, with a penchant for innovation and a keen insight into the minds of others, he is also a crass, asocial creature who cares little for the kindness of their revelations. all that they know of you will be used, all that they use will be for a purpose. positive or negative, does it even matter? all that is, will be. and nobody can do anything to stop it.
that is the way that he perceives the world. what is, is. fate is something untouched by mortal efforts. if one was meant to die, they would die. if they were meant to live, so they would. it makes him an excellent warrior– and quite a poor friend. they are made for this place, isn’t he?
yet there is something that keeps them from the worst of the worst. fate cannot be tricked, but it can be persuaded. it may be lied to. that is what graves does: they lie to fate. they are clever and cool, with an attentive nature that is not so cold as to seem uninviting, or unnerving. in fact, the warrior can be plain charismatic at times, with a warmth that sparkles in conversation with those he deigns to converse with.
it’s not often he finds himself so attached, but fate– ah, it’s a curious thing, isn’t it? -
the stats below are nothing more than the way i choose to explain my characters' strengths and weaknesses! each of the five stats will have a number beside it, ranging from one to ten, with ten being peak performance and one being below average. each stat has three major skills, written in capital letters, and a few minor skills in lowercase beneath them. characters may be proficient (⧳) or inproficient (⧲) in each skill, which just means they have the knowledge to regularly succeed at these skills or they don't. these aren't measures of success as much as they are the ability to frequently perform well.
