Their warm day was just a trick. The golden furred point brushed her shoulder against a shivering friend, looking down at the black and white molly, before pulling away with her jaw open. "Just let me know if you get too cold, Okay?" Her voice was of honeyed silk, gentle against the soft breeze of the slowly layering ground.

"We don't need you sick, or anyone for that matter," she purrs, fluffing out her own coat to shield from the flurries that drifted down. The snow wasnt too bad right now. She wasn't too worried for herself, besides the side of her head bare and scarred of fur, and her nose that she sniffled from, she was otherwise warm.

A cloud of white, besides the golden streaks through her face, paws, and tail, the warrior meshed well side by side with Edenberry as they traversed the barren trees and frostkissed lands. "Have... You been alright?"

You've been quiet .. she wanted to add, but refrained.

The chill is unwelcome… early and harrowing in its timing. It felt like the final blooms had been snipped from their dying stems and left only the cold of decay. They shiver against their will, the thin wisps of their coat doing little to fight off the icy grip of the air. It nips at the tips of their ears, at the pale pinks of their toes.

A touch against their side summons all of their focus, green eyes snapping towards Flowercloud with a small mrr of surprise. The cold..? The daylight warrior blinks, surprised by her empathy or maybe… just relieved to receive it. ”I’ll be okay, Flow’,” they purr half-heartedly, lifting their lips into a reassuring smile. If they get sick they have the safety of a warm Twolegnest to crawl to… They are not required to suffer this miserable adventure but they choose to, knowing cats they love are not so lucky to choose.

The mention of getting sick does make their stomach twist with guilt though, wondering if the she-cat is worried it would be a ‘repeat’ of the illness that had struck them in the warmer months… one that had forced them away for months. A sickness entirely fictional…

It seems she hasn’t forgotten, prompting after the status of their self… if it’s normal… if it’s… alright. ”Uh… Y-yeah… sure!” They sound too eager to say so and realize quickly, doubling back to be more honest. ”Sorry I’ve just… had a lot going on.”

She hadn't even thought about the fact Edenberry was sick for moons, gone- she had worried, but they had returned, as many do. And Flowercloud found herself not questioning, simply enjoying the others presence and safety. It slipped her mind, the fact daylighters came and went, that they had simply somewhere to stay warm if they so chose.

Edenberry was always so… insecure. It hurt her heart a bit, a little pang of sadness at their low self-esteem, but Flowercloud couldn't question it. She wasn't sure how to make them feel better. But she wanted to. A loyal warrior, a loyal friend, a strong hunter- she saw things in them, they did not see in themselves.

You can always talk to me.. I don't judge any soul. It's not my bidding it's… well, Starclans. Just- if it ever gets too heavy for your shoulders.” She purrs, offering a bright smile towards the other. Her head lifted, scenting the air, before shaking it roughly.

Foxdung… all I smell is this frost.” She grunts aloud, distaste on her tongue. She wasn't necessarily discouraged, eyes flickering through falling snow to try to spot pawprints. Despite her numbing nose playing against her scent trail, she managed to spot something small and brown- and it was reason enough for the large cat to dive forward towards the icicle covered bush.

Emerging, she came with a small mouse that hung from her jaws. Her head ducked a bit, a smile tugging her maw behind the mouse. "I almost missed it." She said, muffled.

//No encounter, health is frostbite, doesn't matter- prey caught, +1 point for size

Her reassurances are a warm breeze that cuts through the chill, even if they don't intend to do anything with the offer raised in this moment. Maybe some other time.. after they've filtered through it to make it more consumable. To make sure they didn't spill something they shouldn't like they had with Owlheart. The more ears that got close to their heart, the worst things would get...

She complains about the frigidness and how it obscures her senses and the pale-and-inky cat is inclined to agree. They'd been struggling to find much at all on their hunts which could only be reassuring in the sense that it wasn't really food they were missing out on. But still... it meant they failed to feed their friends and that was its own sort of guilt. She takes off into the chill, kicking up powder where she lands before promptly turning towards her hunting partner with a mouse tucked between her teeth.

"You caught it though!" Edenberry hadn't even noticed it at all... much less give it a sincere chase enough to maybe catch it. The corners of their eyes squeeze in a genuine display of joy and pride, hoping to take some of that eager spirit as a chance to do some good themself. Maybe their luck would turn and they'd both come back to camp with a proverbial bounty to share!

Sensitive topics- death.

Flowercloud does not press. She doesn't want to, merely wanting to enjoy the walk of hunting, now the scent of prey filling the air something to look forward to going to home. She smiles back. A purr filtering through her chest. "I did, thankfully the stars bless us with one more for our hungry bellies," she said with joy. A small rumble of hunger would be ignored, her ear flicking backwards as wind blew a bit harsher, and the howling of branches screeching and swaying above them becoming louder with more flurries of white falling down.

"Eed.. we should probably head back. Before this gets worse," she notes, squinting her green eyes a bit. Her own teeth could not be prevented from chattering as she shook loose snow settling on her fur free.

As she turned off, she stuck close to Edenberry as she could, hoping to share her warmth with the molly as long as they didn't pull away- flowercloud was a fluffy warrior, but if she was could, that could only mean Edenberry was frigid, and it didn't settle well with the warrior.

Suddenly, a loud crack echoed above them, her broad head lifting before pupils slit. The golden warrior had spent her life, trying to protect others. Trying to carry the weight. And maybe, if she thought a bit harder, she could've saved both of them. But in a split second of decision, she would toss the mouse from her jaws, before shoving her paws into Edenberrys side, with a force she would never present to anyone before. Hopefully, throwing the other far enough away as a branch covered in white fell where they both once were. A white plume of snow dust clouded the air of swirling frenzy, a cry of undetermined words cut off in the echoing air.

Under the pile of snow, and a large branch covered in a pile of snow, a warrior with eyes once so bright would be dull, the branch over top of her crushing the large warrior and breaking what once seemed unbroken. A new star would light in the night sky if hundreds of others, a new soul would wake, unsure but connected with ones she once knew. Free of scars of life. Free of hunger. But away from who she knows and have grown close to...

She's so cheery... despite the hunger that pulls at her ribs and the exhaustion that must hum through her bones, Flowercloud never seems to dull. Her spark is a warm fire that can be curled up near... not so different from the hearth of their home that warms the dark stripe along their back most hungrily. It's the sort of warmth they've felt deprived of, from different sources... some within their control but most not. Auburn fur that will not hold them. Moon river eyes that will not set upon them again. Orange feathers that ruffle under the weight of truth. "I'm sorry I didn't catch anything this time, I think my nose is too cold," they mew, butting up against her in an effort to share in the flickering flames of a friendship reaffirmed.

The snow grows more brazen in its efforts to bury them out here... every snowflake that lands along their back another attempt to further obscure them from sight. Soon enough even the small black markings that split them from head to tail wouldn't be discernable... a funny retelling of an Edenberry born the color of a lily, unmarred by ink.

Flowercloud hums a nickname they don't think they've ever been called before, setting their heart aflutter with a relieved, kit-like joy. Eed... It's so reductive... something maybe even their kittens could've called them with their limited expanse of language before they'd left. "Yeah, of course! We can go, I'm right here with you."

They are happy to share the close space with her, as the other warrior seems eager to cling to them like a burr- she's so warm.... alive... the brush of her fur only slightly dampened where flakes have fallen and promptly melted when faced with the heat of her sunshine personality. Edenberry casts her a glance, another grin, "Hey-

Crack.

There's a sudden jab into their side, the warmth disappears all too suddenly and they tumble into the cold as if ice had given way from underneath them, drowning in the freezing waters they didn't realize they were standing over. By the time they gain their senses enough to look back, to notice that it's quiet... too quiet... their ears ring with a sense of dread. Where... where is she?

Their mouth runs dry, stumbling to their paws despite the ache of frozen joints, "Flowercloud! Flowercloud, where are you?" They squint against the blizzard winds, wondering if maybe she hared off in some other direction? It isn't until they see a single paw reaching out from under a pile of snow where they'd once both been standing that the reality dawns on them. "N...no! No, no no, no no no! FLOWERCLOUD!" They lunge for the bank, digging frantically at the snow to unearth her, praying she had held her breath, that it was just a scary moment, they'd both be able to go home and laugh about this.

But when they uncover the side of her face, there is not even a hint of light in the colors of her eyes. "Flowercloud! Flowercloud I'm here! I'm here, hold on- just hold on I'll get help!" They stumble over their words, lips numb with adrenaline, fear, and the cold. They know what death looks like... know the way it hollows out the cheeks, the way paw pads turn to stone beneath their touch... they recognize it for the loss it is but cannot stomach to say it out loud. Admit that she's already gone, that there was nothing they could do but stand witness to it.

"Please... please Flowercloud, don't leave," they whine, reaching their nose to try to rub at her cheek to wake her. She'll come around... she'll come to in just a minute. But seconds pass... and they do not feel her breath stir their whiskers. It grows harder and harder to deny. "I'm coming right back.. I'm coming back Flowercloud, just wait for me!"

They draw in a deep breath, a last hope to cling to her scent; just in case. Because I already know it's the last time...

The daylight warrior turns on their heels... and runs. Like they've always been good at doing.
