PERSONALITY — all that other noise was just a waste of time
kind, loyal, empathetic, curious, protective, anxious, jealous
✦ truly, springflame is the opposite of his sister. where betonyfrost is angry, springflame is sweet, the warmth to her chill. before his kidnapping by twolegs, spring was a kind, anxious boy with a heart of gold. he existed to support his family, and once they were gone, he existed to support his sister. he was devoted to shadowclan because they were the only home he'd ever known. a quiet, diligent warrior, he did his best to live up to the standards his parents had set for him before they left.

one thing that betonyfrost and springflame share, however, is their jealousy. springflame hides it better than betony, playing it off as protectiveness, or loyalty, but his jealousy drives him. he returned from the twolegplace forever changed. bitterness brought him back, duty to his clan, but he truly only cares for his sister. he finds his clanmates too much to deal with, and has withdrawn further into his shell. still quiet, he is no longer anxious, but stoic, cool and calm.

HISTORY: born with his twin sister to a group of cats living in the marsh, spring spent his kithood playing and preparing for his adulthood. with betony by his side, his childhood was incredibly average. when his parents departed to seek adventure, he regarded them bitterly, and clung to his sister harder than before. he was young when the great battle happened, but not too young to fight. seeing the starry spirits for the first time appearing on the battlefield instilled in him a strong faith in starclan.

when shadowclan received its leader and new name, spring was dubbed springflame. early into his warriorhood, he was taken by twolegs and neutered, causing him to be unable to sire children. the trauma from his trip to the cutter and subsequent recovery caused him to keep away from others when he was finally returned to shadowclan. he has lived much of the past moons in quiet solitude, a diligent warrior.

PERSONALITY — icarus is flying too close to the sun
kind, loyal, principled, empathetic, curious, stern, solemn, protective

↪ as a child, the tom finds himself favoring a leaderly position. he tries to guide and herd the other kits of the nursery, trying to check in and keep his denmates as safe as he can. he puts much pride into his relation to smokestar, and emulates his uncle's best features- a kinglike demeanor, a fearsome lion reigning over whom he must protect. there is a desperate need to fit in, to not be seen as the abandoned kit of the leader's low down sister, even if he still loves and misses his mother. he has an eagerness to help and explore, but it's something he tries to keep contained, burdened with the knowledge that he is constantly being observed.

in his apprenticehood, he finds his curiosity nurtured, and he takes to his training with a skip in his step. he grows out of his distrust for those not known to him, although he still remains suspicious of good intentions. he tries to use his apprenticeship as a means to impress smokestar, always seeking the leader's approval. post smokestar's death, he finds himself less worried about impressing authority, and more invested in becoming the best he can be. he finds a sort of adoration for his mentor, foxtail, whom he trusts with his life. his idea is that if smokestar has assigned foxtail to him, he must be the best warrior in the clan. as he grows towards warriorhood, he continues to herd and protect his denmates, and seek the hardest, most burdensome tasks and patrols.

growing finally into his warrior name, pebbletail is a strong and steady presence within his clan. reliable and trustworthy to his superiors, kind and helpful to his fellows, he is a good cat. simply put, he does his best, puts his clanmates first, and acts unselfishly and with little regard for his own personal safety. he approaches his duties with a sense of honor and dignity.

HISTORY: freezing in the cold, the son of smokestar's distant sister and an unknown rogue will be found curled around his siblings, his larger body, though kit-sized, attempting to cover and warm his littermates. brought into camp, he will be diagnosed with a mild case of hypothermia, his main symptoms being shivering and frostbite. said frostbite will cause the tips of his ears to deaden and go ragged.

adopted almost immediately by hazecloud and lichentail, he grows up as the eldest of two biological siblings and three adoptive ones, his psuedo parent's kittens by blood. during a rogue attack, his mother attempts to kidnap him and his brother, having already stolen his sister. his adoptive family fights them off, solidifying pebblekit's place in riverclan.

pebblekit has his apprentice ceremony alongside his brother, although unfortunately his sister is too sick to be given her promotion. he is named pebblepaw and is apprenticed to foxtail. pebblepaw's uncle smokestar dies early on in his apprenticeship, and his adoptive mother lichentail is named lichenstar and promoted to leader. this loss of family begins pebblepaw's spiral into unhealthy coping mechanisms.

when shellpaw is allowed apprenticeship, he celebrates with her and vows to help catch her up. early into his second moon of his apprenticeship, pebblepaw's mother, brother, and younger sister are stolen by twolegs, causing a rift between him and shellpaw. both cats deal with grief in different ways, causing them to drift apart. foxtail, his mentor, was also there when hazecloud was kidnapped, and this makes it difficult for pebblepaw to be around him. snowypaw of shadowclan joins riverclan secretly, taking the name of splashpaw. pebblepaw defends her from ridicule within the apprentices' den and they become fast friends. pebblepaw's sister and mother return amongst a huge, strategic undertaking, and life begins to return to normal. however, shellpaw has a distinct dislike for pebblepaw's new friend splashpaw, causing a rift between the siblings.

✦ - the first few weeks of life in riverclan will be especially difficult for him, and he will attempt to keep his siblings close at all times. he will trust smokestar slightly, but everyone else will be a blank slate for him, making it very difficult for him to interact.
- he genuinely did love and care for his mom, enough that he will be heartbroken at her abandonment. it will take several moons for him to be able to see the mistreatment and neglect she caused, and anyone who tries to speak poorly of her before he has had these realizations will be on his bad side.
- he may potentially begin apprenticehood as a drypaw, as he is not keen to get into cold water. as he will be apprenticed during late leaf-bare this will be especially true. he will work through his personal trauma with snow/ice/water, and eventually become an alright swimmer, although always a bit hesitant.

taking after his mother in looks, this is a tall and lean boy sporting a chaotically ruffled coat of a pale cream tabby hue. like his mother, darker ticked stripes flow down his fur, and band around his legs and face. his chest, stomach, muzzle, and most of his tail are white, and he looks almost a carbon copy of swiftdawn. the only difference are eyes of verdant green, a similar shade to his father's eyes, which show his emotions plainly, an expressive face topping off a brilliantly distracting attitude with a winning smile.

KITHOOD ・ this boy is a chaotic fireball of energy. with enough wit to get him into conflicts, and enough smarts to sneak away, he spends much of his time causing well meaning problems. he has a very prideful personality, which often leads him into issues with others around him. he tends to be overly confident in himself and his abilities. however, when around his friends and those he holds close, he is gentle and kind, with a warm heart. the classic chaotic good, he rushes into battle with ferocity, a witty comeback always on his lips. intensely protective, he will defend those he cares for with his life, and is perhaps too trusting when it comes to those in need.

APPRENTICEHOOD ・ entering apprenticehood, he is much the same. loud and proud with his love for his clan and his family, he takes on the first moon with bravado. however, he is quickly quieted by circumstances occurring within his clan. with skyclaw's takeover, basilpaw's wild energy is contained forcibly. it no longer shows itself as joy, but rather squeezes between the cracks as anger and righteousness. when skyclaw is vanquished, basilpaw does not return to his joyful ways. he is quieter now, subdued where he once was wild. there is worry where there once was carefree youth.

↪ in kithood, this girl is soft. although she will be raised on the strong, noble ideals of her clan, she finds herself yerning for a simpler life. it isn't that she hates the idea of warriorhood, the feeling of blood under claws and free roam within her territory, but she develops the idea that she may not be worthy of being a skyclan warrior. a quick learner and a peacekeeper at heart, this girl tries her best to please everyone, although, especially in kithood, this often leads to her being a pushover for what the more bossy kits and apprentices might want.

as she transitions towards apprenticehood, she makes it her goal to listen to everything, soaking up as much information as she can to give her clan the best version of herself she can be. stormpaw will be seen trailing after her mentor, a constant shadow on their heels, asking questions, yes, but more often than not, simply observing. her nature is loyalty, and she is loyal to the core - even if some aspects of clan life don't appeal to her, she would never dream of leaving. she eventually begins to find her place in skyclan once she has begun to befriend all those who are willing. while she is not necessarily a social cat, as she has an introverted nature, she tries her best to be involved as much as she can.

PERSONALITY — i swear i was in the backseat, just minding my own
kind, loyal, empathetic, curious, bright, competitive, protective
✦ this girl is a crackling fire of witty comebacks and dumb puns. she looks perfectly innocent, pelt groomed to perfection, an angelic smile pieced together carefully from the happiness she brings to others. she is eager and easy to teach, wanting to please and get things right on the first try. while she tries to remain graceful with her walk, so excited is her everyday mood that often she finds herself tripping to catch up with her own brain. she is, to put it lightly, a complete social butterfly, flitting from one friend to the next, as if trying to collect and store as many happy moments as she can. she's a hopeless romantic, but at the same time absolutely clueless when it comes to feelings, preferring to gossip with others about their emotions than to sort out her own. this makes her bad at picking up signals, but she loves everyone anyway, so it really does no harm. as if determined to make the aura around her pure, she practically radiates sweetness.

↪ in kithood, shadowkit begins as a curious spark, flitting from news source to gossip, friend to family to stranger, all with the same sense of innate inquisitiveness. she begins life seeking a source of attention from anyone who will have her. shadowkit makes it her mission to befriend every cat in her clan, especially the older apprentices and warriors. she will be obsessed with who her mentor will be, and try to schmooze specific cats in order to be on their good side, "just in case." her clumsy curiosity means that she will be a bit of an inconsiderate mess, unaware of others' more subdued or hidden emotions. she will learn over time to recognize body language and hidden hints to this sort of thing, but in her kithood, many may find her annoying as a result of this ignorance. she will always be well meaning, however.
↪ growing into apprenticehood, shadowpaw takes on the title of master of information within her den. a big gossip, she finds the most joy in conversing with her clanmates, sharing interesting tidbits she's learned throughout the day. she will struggle with focusing on her training, causing her to fall behind and potentially have to be held back a few moons. she simply finds she has better things to do than learn to hunt. her brain will move at a mile a minute, and sometimes it will seem as though her mind hasn't caught up yet. she will need a mentor who is patient and willing to come up with strategies to aid in her learning difficulties. in her late apprenticeship, she will eventually learn to pick up on social cues and represent her clan in a dignified way.

↪ kit era! heatherkit came into the world as quiet as a mouse. she spent most of her first moon emitting barely a squeak, in contrast to most kits of her litter. spending much of her time sleeping or cuddling close to her mother, it is a surprise to her when she is stolen away from that familiar life. as her eyes open and she begins to be able to explore her new home, she will prefer to keep to herself. she will develop a slight suspicion of any kit not apart of her family, and a possessiveness of her father's attention. not quite a bully, as she is too soft spoken for it, she will nonetheless stick very close to her family and quietly badmouth any cat who attempts to be closer to her father than she is.
↪ apprentice era! when heatherkit becomes heatherpaw, she will have gotten over some of her possessiveness and jealousy, although it may still be a driving factor in her actions. extremely intent on learning, she will attempt to be the perfect apprentice and leach as much knowledge off of her superiors as she can. she will not attempt to make friends, instead hovering over the shoulder of whichever family member is the most outgoing. she will carry her pride for sootspot in everything she does, and will find herself in fights and spats over her father's appearance within the clan. fiercely defensive and jealously loyal to sootspot and sootspot only, she will listen with fervor to his commands. while she is not quite so audacious as to openly doubt her leader and deputy, she will always listen to her father first. the more she learns and the more mature she grows, these things might change, with her more negative qualities fading to the background. she will ultimately be a very dedicated student and an apprentice who is easy to mold into a fiercely loyal windclanner.
↪ warrior era! a generally well mannered cat, heather nonetheless holds her walls close around her. her mood is generally cold, a chill permeating her vocals at most times, not hiding her distaste for most cats. not outright mean, she tries to be as empathetic as she can, but her voice is monotone and raspy, making her sound less well-meaning than she really is. fiercely protective, heather will devote moons of loyalty to her clan (moreso her father) and will not stand for any insult when it comes to her family. while not quite elusive, she keeps to herself most times, and one will only see a smile on her when talking to family. pride for sootspot and her siblings shines in everything she does, and she would do anything to show her support to her family and her clan. though she may be brisk and gruff, she is inside a well-meaning cat, with a good heart.

stoic and sturdy, this is a tree-stump legged, broad faced she-cat. duckpaw carries her body heavily, gait short and plodding, thick tail low, sweeping by her side. her paws are huge, although of accurate proportion to her hefty body. long, tangled cinnamon fur decorates her frame, darkening around her tail, face and paws. a splash of white blankets the right side of duckpaw’s face, spattering out across the russet background, and white fur also mittens one large front paw. her ears are tall and tufted, her muzzle wide, with a berry-pink nose. duckpaw’s eyes are poison-green, bright and judgemental in their large sockets. contrary to her current allegiance, she is not a riverclan-looking cat, rather she looks as though she belongs to the forests and trees.

judgemental and loud about it, duckpaw is no-one’s favorite cat. she is fussy more than not, disliking small talk and well meaning conversations. a firecracker of a girl, she is easily set off, grumpy in the most unpleasant of ways. her interests lie in the arena of battle, where she shows off her skills through heavy strikes with her large body. she is not tactful, approaching every conversation and interaction on the defensive.

duckpaw detests her name, finds it soft and prey-like. she would rather have had the nursery queens name her after a bird of prey, or at least a less wimpy bird altogether. due to this distaste, she has made an attempt to only go by “dee,” until she can receive a cooler, more fitting warrior name. it is up to other characters whether they choose to address her by this nickname, but she will become sullen and grouchy should she hear her full name in the mouth of someone who is not in a high position in the clan.

duckpaw is only soft with those that she knows and has trusted for moons, the primary example being her twin sister. with high positions, she will avoid much interaction all together, preferring instead to have her mentor or sister do any talking necessary. she performs acts of service for those she loves, whether it be braving harsh weather to catch the best prey, or meticulously grooming another’s pelt. she is not big with words, her vocabulary rather crass, so it is through her actions one can see her true feelings.

duckpaw rarely shows emotion other than anger or boredom, but when asked to approach and swim in water, she sparks instead with fear. this, of course, does crumble into more rage, but it is a more focused and hot flame.

stocky and sturdy, this feline is a jovial tangle of color. long, silky fur dapples in colors reminiscent of the autumn, ginger leaves, golden wheat, dark earth combining to create a vision of a cat. they are pretty in a patchwork sort of way, and with their fur always strewn with bits of leaves, it is as if they are almost sewn together in looks. despite being of a surrogate litter, they reminisce of their true parents. their fur and frame recall their sire mirestar, with short limbs and a thick, plush pelt, and their eyes are all their dam, lilacfur - the piercing yellow of the moon on an autumnal night.

this feline is a crackling fire of witty comebacks and dumb puns. they look perfectly innocent, pelt tousled and an angelic smile pieced together carefully from the happiness they bring to others. they are eager and easy to teach, wanting to please and get things right on the first try. while they try to remain graceful with their walk, so excited is their everyday mood that often they find themself tripping to catch up with their own brain. they are, to put it lightly, a complete social butterfly, flitting from one friend to the next, as if trying to collect and store as many happy moments as they can. they're a hopeless romantic, but at the same time absolutely clueless when it comes to feelings, preferring to gossip with others about their emotions than to sort out their own. this makes them bad at picking up signals, but they loves everyone anyway, so it really does no harm. as if determined to make the aura around them pure, they practically radiate sweetness, a beam of light in the dark swamp of shadowclan.

KITHOOD ・ in kithood, tbdkit begins as a curious spark, flitting from news source to gossip, friend to family to stranger, all with the same sense of innate inquisitiveness. they begin life seeking a source of attention from anyone who will have them. tbdkit makes it their mission to befriend every cat in their clan, especially the older apprentices and warriors. they will be obsessed with who their mentor will be, and try to schmooze specific cats in order to be on their good side, "just in case." their clumsy curiosity means that they will be a bit of an inconsiderate mess, unaware of others' more subdued or hidden emotions. they will learn over time to recognize body language and hidden hints to this sort of thing, but in their kithood, many may find them annoying as a result of this ignorance. they will always be well meaning, however.

APPRENTICEHOOD ・ growing into apprenticehood, tbdpaw takes on the title of master of information within their den. a big gossip, they find the most joy in conversing with their clanmates, sharing interesting tidbits they've learned throughout the day. they will struggle with focusing on their training, causing them to fall behind and potentially have to be held back a few moons. they simply find they have better things to do than learn to hunt. their brain will move at a mile a minute, and sometimes it will seem as though their mind hasn't caught up yet. they will need a mentor who is patient and willing to come up with strategies to aid in their learning difficulties. in their late apprenticeship, they will eventually learn to pick up on social cues and represent their clan in a dignified way.

WARRIORHOOD ・ when tbdtbd becomes a warrior, they will have grown from a bouncy, annoying kit to a well rounded, competent warrior. they will not be shadowclan's most skilled hunter, nor fighter, but they will develop a rhetoric with others that makes them a good negotiator and speaker. overcoming some their differences in recognizing social cues will allow them to reach their full potential as a kind and curious cat who will do anything to help their clan. all of this is subject to change based on how they develop naturally as a character.
