I FEEL LIKE AN ASTRONAUT IN THE OCEAN
His hunt that morning hadn't gone great, and when he returned to camp it was with nothing but a skinny mouse clutched in his jaws. At six months old, Quillpaw wasn't entirely uneducated when it came to securing food. His father had taught him quite a bit before the grayscale tabby had joined Skyclan, and Quill could say with honesty that he'd partaken in several successful hunts with his father and older brother.
The problem he was having was the forest itself. Pine needles were impossible to not step on, and he wasn't used to having to consider to many differetn factors in this new enviroment. For example, his smell carried a lot more out here in the clean, open air than it had in twoleg place where the streets were thick with car pollution, hundreds of humans, and just as many other animals. The sound carried farther too, no constant drone of traffic to cover his approach, and to his surprise he found himself annoyed, frustrated that he couldn't perform such mundane tasks without difficulty.
Dropping his meagre catch atop the pile, Quill would make his way over to a sunny patch nearby and seat himself. He still hadn't gotten used to the routine of the place, nor had he really met any of the other cats. It wasn't that he didn't want to, he just didn't have the friendliest looking face or the nicest tone of voice, which often sounded rough and disinterested, deep for someone his age. It was fine though. He didn't mind the quiet.
