↳ ( Appearance ) ╭──╯ . . . .
a short but lengthy black cat with a boney build and striking ocher eyes filled with unveiled trepidation / reference
a concerningly scrawny black cat with deep amber eyes and drooping ears which size are much too large for his head, one of which is torn in half. his intact ear is adorned with a singular beverage tab that doubles as an earring which was collected from the carrionplace, and his head is split with an uneven scar from the top of his cranium to where his muzzle begins. his fur, which is generally on the shorter side, is much longer around his face and neck area similar to a mane. he has scraggly, crooked whiskers with paw pads and a nose sporting the same pink hue. his eyes, although bright, are often bloodshot and unnaturally wide, blinking something that is few and far between for him. his tail is thin, wiry, and exceptionally long, exceeding the length of his entire body and is often curled near the end as a means to take up less space. he is shorter than average but maintains an elongated frame, as if he were stretched out. due to food aversion caused by paranoia, he is visibly underweight and his bones glide taught against a thin layer of skin

(+) resilient, compassionate, innovative (/) reserved, cautious, observant (-) paranoid, self-destructive, reactive at the core, amberhaze is a well meaning and good natured individual who has a great zeal for life and all that it has to offer, the idea of adventure and experiencing all that one can in such a short amount of time one that he views through rose colored glasses. however, this is a lifestyle that may very well turn out to be nothing more than a dream, for his mind is riddled with unfathomable levels of fear leading to paranoia so intense he is just barely capable of patrolling the edges of his own territory. every day he is controlled by his own thoughts and relentless "what-if's," the possibility of danger rearing its ugly head at any point in the form of something so catastrophic it cannot be stopped something that is all too real to him. he is eaten alive by the feeling of hopelessness and the fact that he is aware of how powerless he is compared to everything that is outside of his control- natural disasters, disease, the actions of others, the very world deciding that it would rather see its end than grant its inhabitants another day. prone to full blown anxiety attacks, he may begin to grow breathless and lay on the ground in a shaking heap while muttering to himself about outlandish ideas cultivated inside of his frazzled mind that makes little sense to anyone other than himself. the process is a painful one, his chest and abdomen tingling and heaving in their efforts to draw in oxygen until he feels as though he is suffocating, his extremities growing numb with muscles so tense it prevents him from being able to move. quite the pathetic burden he can be at his worst, however at his best he has a sharp mind with a good sense of humor, he enjoys the smaller pleasures in life as well as spending time with those who bring him a sense of comfort and safety- though this must be done in moderation, as he can be unhealthily dependent on those around him for security
↳ mannerisms quite the finnicky individual, amberhaze is prone to pacing back and forth in the same constricted area and is often seen shifting his weight when standing or sitting. his eyelids, ears, tail, and the corners of his mouth are all extremities with the most prominent source of movement, continuously twitching as a show of stress and fear that he has grown almost entirely numb to given it is his constant. chances are he doesnt even realize he is partaking in such erratic behavior unless it is pointed out to him, and when brought to his attention it provokes a level of self consciousness that may unintentionally make such a distracting display worse. when he feels the need to ground himself, he will allow his claws to flex and pierce the earth below as deep as they can go
