⚛︎₊˚‧ The disappearance of Mirestar had left the clan reeling, and for good reason. It had come so soon after the disappearance of their predecessor, and although it had finally begun to grow stale, peace was not something Shadowclan seemed to keep within arms length. Unexpectedly, Amberhaze had not had as stark of a reaction as others, his usual intensity quelled by something unspoken, the only thing drawn from him being a twitch of an eyelid or a grinding jaw. He did not expect anything great from the likes of Mirestar, he never even expected adequacy. A weak leader made for a weak clan, and after the effects of the war between themselves and Thunderclan had taken hold, Mirestar had worn their guilt and regret plainly upon their face up until the moment they left, seemingly for good. There was no shame in being empathetic at heart, however it was something that your enemies would prey on should they discover it lurking inside you- that said, it would have only been a matter of time until another clan leader or outside threat figured out just how soft Shadowclan's leader truly was- and the price of it would have destroyed them all. Not everyone can hide what they truly were, and truthfully, Amberhaze didn't think he would have been able to either. Thank the stars he was nobody important.

But the same could not be said for Ternfrost. She was everything Mirestar was not- confident, witty, charismatic, and just apathetic enough to ensure that she would not be consumed by the aftermath of unsavory actions needed to ensure that their clan would thrive- perhaps it was no surprise that she would be chosen to follow in Mirestars wavering paw steps. Amberhaze would be lying if he said he was not shocked when the prophecy was announced, however. Not because he didn't find her undeserving of it, but because of the sheer speed at which such an important decision had been made, but Starclan seemed to work in inexplicable ways that he didn't care to decipher.

Amberhaze would seek out his upcoming leader now, a precious bundle set firmly within quivering jaws. He had travelled to carrionplace some time before in search of a gift, something to congratulate her and show his appreciation to and for her by means of materialism, that of which she so blatantly adored. Now was a good a time as ever to present it to her- admittedly perhaps the only time- for once she officially took her place upon her pedestal of stars, he was certain she would no longer have the time nor energy to spare for the likes of him.

"Um- Ternfrost?" He approached her cautiously, his voice wavering slightly beneath his building anxiety. What if she didn't like it? What if she didn't want to see him? What if he unknowingly interrupted something important, potentially making her angry? Or worse, what if she blatantly ignored him and brushed him aside? It was too late for all this now, and he was left standing there waiting and willing that all of these worries were just another unreasonable product of his own head.

There is a strange mood leveled upon the clan - in the knowledge that she is to set out soon, to either gain nine lives or return a failure. Shaodwclan can't seem to agree which would be the better outcome - not that Ternfrost allows it to get to her, leveling intense gaze upon all but her friends with the same leel of apathy she has always given them. She is no stranger to adversity, to stares and glares and mocking whispers - it is only the name that falls from their tongues that has changed.

And yet, despite her grief and all that she has lost to the stars - there are a surprising amount of cats who are on her side. She says more then she ought to, to Wormwatcher and Moltface, congratulates Marblepaw, levels promises to Ferndance that she does truly mean. And yet the last to approach her is a surprise, if the widening of her eyes is any indication - not that she minds. Amberhaze is a cat she finds she likes, but she wouldn't say they were particularily close.

" Amberhaze, " name falls from his lips, and so she echoes his back, tail swishing before she turns to lance at what he has set down - eyes gleaming at the (perhaps correct) thought that whatever it is is mean tto be hers. " ... What do you have there? "

⚛︎₊˚‧ Looking into the resolute molly's eyes was a challenge in of itself, two pieces of steely angelite splintered from the sediment itself. There was such strength to be found within her overbearing figure, and yet the tenderness found thinly veiled beneath a hardened gaze that was typical of her gave him the push he needed to continue forth. It was not often that he extended physical gifts to those around him, and there was a moments hesitance as images of eager kits battering his tender ears under the guise of it being a show of gratitude flashed in his mind. He was calmed by the reminder that Ternstar had been there to witness it, being the only cat to come to his defense in her own stoic manner. She would not harm him, not physically nor emotionally.

"R-Right! Um- I-I made this for you." He would push the contraption forward as he spoke, abyssal paw trembling with those familiar nerves. It was a strange looking thing- whether it could be worn or simply placed within the weavings of a nest could be a good a guess as any- and it was clear he had pieced it together himself. A string of bones held together by something that looked like a tattered brown vine, their sizes organized from smallest to largest- the smallest beginning at the top and the base of it holding the most impressively sized. But none of these compared to the centerpiece settled at the very end of it, the skull of a juvenile bird somehow still intact save for a fissure that trailed along its jaw. He had collected them from his many outings while hunting, and had woven them together with whatever meaningless junk he could find in the heaps of garbage that littered the Carrionplace- though he hoped it would be meaningless no longer, and stand to be seen as much more precious than just junk.

"Uh- think of it as- as a c-congratulatory gift! F-For...being chosen t-to lead us and- and all." The beginnings of a smile would break through twitching pink lips, growing slowly wider as he stuttered on. "Um- I think that- that you'll d-do great, Ternstar. Really. I um...I h-have high hopes...and f-full faith in you." Perhaps for the first time ever, his smile did not look identical to a grimace nor did it read as forced- it was genuine- although still quite lopsided and perhaps the slightest bit uncomfortable to look at. He wasn't used to the feeling himself, the way his skin grew taut under the strain making his widened eyes water.
