⚛︎₊˚‧ The disappearance of Mirestar had left the clan reeling, and for good reason. It had come so soon after the disappearance of their predecessor, and although it had finally begun to grow stale, peace was not something Shadowclan seemed to keep within arms length. Unexpectedly, Amberhaze had not had as stark of a reaction as others, his usual intensity quelled by something unspoken, the only thing drawn from him being a twitch of an eyelid or a grinding jaw. He did not expect anything great from the likes of Mirestar, he never even expected adequacy. A weak leader made for a weak clan, and after the effects of the war between themselves and Thunderclan had taken hold, Mirestar had worn their guilt and regret plainly upon their face up until the moment they left, seemingly for good. There was no shame in being empathetic at heart, however it was something that your enemies would prey on should they discover it lurking inside you- that said, it would have only been a matter of time until another clan leader or outside threat figured out just how soft Shadowclan's leader truly was- and the price of it would have destroyed them all. Not everyone can hide what they truly were, and truthfully, Amberhaze didn't think he would have been able to either. Thank the stars he was nobody important.
But the same could not be said for Ternfrost. She was everything Mirestar was not- confident, witty, charismatic, and just apathetic enough to ensure that she would not be consumed by the aftermath of unsavory actions needed to ensure that their clan would thrive- perhaps it was no surprise that she would be chosen to follow in Mirestars wavering paw steps. Amberhaze would be lying if he said he was not shocked when the prophecy was announced, however. Not because he didn't find her undeserving of it, but because of the sheer speed at which such an important decision had been made, but Starclan seemed to work in inexplicable ways that he didn't care to decipher.
Amberhaze would seek out his upcoming leader now, a precious bundle set firmly within quivering jaws. He had travelled to carrionplace some time before in search of a gift, something to congratulate her and show his appreciation to and for her by means of materialism, that of which she so blatantly adored. Now was a good a time as ever to present it to her- admittedly perhaps the only time- for once she officially took her place upon her pedestal of stars, he was certain she would no longer have the time nor energy to spare for the likes of him.
"Um- Ternfrost?" He approached her cautiously, his voice wavering slightly beneath his building anxiety. What if she didn't like it? What if she didn't want to see him? What if he unknowingly interrupted something important, potentially making her angry? Or worse, what if she blatantly ignored him and brushed him aside? It was too late for all this now, and he was left standing there waiting and willing that all of these worries were just another unreasonable product of his own head.
