Candorkit has come to learn that there are two kinds of warriors in SkyClan. One of them are normal, and the other ones are weird, or something like that, he thinks. He thinks those are the cats that leave every night and come in the morning, and its why Sangriakit and Coffeekit get to leave camp even though they're kits and Candorkit is totally jealous... but he can't be jealous, because heroic cats aren't jealous. So actually he isn't jealous.

He doesn't really have a sense of which cats are weird warriors and which aren't yet... So maybe he could just ask the nearest cat and they'd know something. Candorkit scampers to the nearest suspect, one of the new warriors, he remembers seeing. " Excuse me! " he makes himself known without issue, tail giving a friendly wave that he's seen warriors give to each other. " I merely wished to... inquire! Um... how come... some warriors don't sleep with us in SkyClan? Do they go to a secret other clan at night? " Such is one of his many theories, and if this was true, they ought to alert Orangestar at once. " Is it good or bad? " With the up - most importance, he asks.

// OOC: pls wait for @edenberry ?! :3!

It had been a hope that being a warrior successfully trained under the careful watch of another daylighter would strike some sense into those that had so publicly abhorred cats like them. Orangestar's careful watch and sharp tongue was a great enough hurdle it had been quieted... had demanded some amount of thought before gums started flapping in mixed company. They were grateful for her stern, quick decision and her willingness to uphold the culture Blazestar had fostered in his time as leader.

Hatred like that can only be taught anyways... and that meant it could be unlearned in the same way that a bad hunters crouch can be corrected and forgotten by the muscles that had grown familiar to it. A shrill, formal call for attention drags their gaze from the far-off stare that had encouraged their vacant thinking, a pearly smile pulling onto their face at the sight of one of the tiny children of sunshine and briar bushes. He speaks with a lot more thought than any other kit they knew did... using words far too big for his age to prompt them for information about well.... them.

"It's good you asked," they affirm with a serious nod, scooting down onto their belly so they might match his eye-level better (this way, they might be equals in his eyes). "I'm something of an expert on the subject actually... I also leave when the moon rises." His suggestion that they might be double agents is hard not to giggle at and they stifle their laugh to the best of their ability- he wants to be taken seriously... so they'd do their best to treat him as such.

"I assure you no such treachery is occurring, noble Candorkit! We have to go home to our Twolegs at night to guard them... They can't hunt very well and their paws are always cold so we have to warm them up. But we always make sure to come back when the sun rises so we can hunt and protect SkyClan too." Their loyalty was not divided so much as shared in equal measure... Besides, having a promised meal in a warm house meant the warriors here did not have to fight with them for food. "We hunt so you," they say, and gently reach to boop his nose, "Get to have plenty to eat... It's not really for us."

Dutiful in her queenly tasks, Butterflytuft is of course not far behind Candorkit. She pads after him firstly to ensure that he doesnโ€™t travel too far from her sight and from the nursery, but secondly because sheโ€™s curious about what heโ€™s asking Edenberry about. When she hears what it is, she canโ€™t help but smile in amusement, her whiskers quivering as she looks to the warrior who must now answer this question. Sheโ€™s impressed by the way they explain their double duty and she looks down at the son of her mentor, tail twitching. โ€œItโ€™s called being a daylight warrior, Candorkit. Itโ€™s easy to remember, because theyโ€™re here when the sun is out, and they leave when it sets. Pretty cool, huh?โ€ Her niece and nephew are two examples of these cats, and admittedly, she does miss them when they must leave every night. But she understand their life is different from hers. She did not love her twolegs, and she likes her life of staying in SkyClanโ€™s camp full-time. Fantastreamโ€™s twolegs sound lovely, on the other paw, so sheโ€™s certain Sangriakit and Coffeekit are well loved in their second home.

It's good that he asked! He likes being good, so naturally, he perks. And how doubly good of him to accidentally find an expert on the subject! Triply good even! His jaws part in a small gasp " Really? " What a wonder! Candorkit makes sure to maintain eye contact with the warrior, to show how very good of a listener he was, and how very much he wanted to learn.

He's relieved to hear that nothing bad is going on... After all, for something like that to occur right beneath Orangestar's nose...!! Surely the embarrassment she felt would be immense? Guarding Twolegs? He's heard of them... He's heard that they're weird lanky creatures with no fur at all... Things like that needed guarding? " How noble! " He gapes. The warrior reminded him that this word exists currently. It was one of his favorite words! We hunt so youโ€” Candorkit squeaks a laugh as his nose is bapped. Get to have plenty of food. " I see! " he exclaims. " Two jobs at once... Isn't that tiring? " No, no... because the best warriors work tirelessly, no matter what! " You're very brave! " he tells them.

Butterflytuft chimes in, she says they're called Daylight Warriors. " Oh! Daylight warrior! " he says it himself to make sure he remembers. It sounds like... A warrior that could channel the power of the sun itself! " Yeah! Does the sun give you powers? Do you have super strength? " he asks. " Maybe I'll be a daylight warrior! "

Twitchbolt was glad to see that, even though his kits would never know him, Blazestar had left some of his spark within them. A compassion for daylight warriors that Twitchbolt held close, too. He could not claim to understand their attachment to Twolegs, but he owed his life to them. Owed his future- or, what little left of a future their was for him, anyway. Regret ate at his bones, the pain of ripping away from leadership a raw, gnawing thing... he supposed there was no better a group to speak to than Butterflytuft and Edenberry, two good friends.

He chose not to deny that the sun gave Edenberry superpowers... that would be for them to encourage, if they so wished, but he offered them a shaky but amused smile. Butterflytuft's ever-present compassion glowed through her words- her assertion that it was cool, to which Twitcbolt agreed. "Becoming a daylight warrior might be a tall order... b-but, you can certainly harness the power of the sun, if you put your mind to it." He gave the bright-eyed kit a wobbling grin of encouragement. Maybe it was a bit of a false promise for his future mentor to deal with...but he just couldn't help it.

They can't help but grow flustered at the positive commentary Butterflytuft deposits in favor of daylight warriors- there are not so many in SkyClan that would identify their role as 'cool' and fewer still that would encourage a kit to respect them for that choice. Offering the queen a grateful smile, they know some of her adoration likely comes from outside of just the black and white warrior but... still. New-leaf eyes turn towards Candorkit who tuts in fascination and adoration, exclaiming that it is far too much work to be done in the form of complimenting their bravery.

The warm feeling of belonging wraps comfortably around them like a wool blanket, heavy but reassuring in its weight as if embraced by it. "It's not so bad... Especially since I've got sisters to help me," they purr, referring to Hazelbeam and the newly introduced Spicepaw. It's not so different from how the queens handle things... assisting each other with the mutual goal of success, even if that success is in raising well-mannered kits and not guarding a quiet house.

Edenberry is a bit amused by the way his mind leaps for new ideas, pulling connections out of thin air and suggesting some of the most outlandish realities. The power of the sun...? They glance towards where it hangs in the sky, squinting against its bright light with a bit of consideration. Super strength is a definite no, at least in any way that physically matters- The familiar voice of chocolate and marshmallow fur croons that it is not entirely out of their grasp and they catch the faintest flash of a toothy smile in their direction.

Ah, the daylight warrior nods resolutely, "It's a very special kind of power," they agree. "It's why I gotta sit in the sun sometimes- need to recharge the magic! I bet you could do it too... bottle up all the warmth and when you really need it, you'll know!" It was an incredibly vague explanation, an indication they were floundering for any radical story or mythos to share, but Candorkit was just a little guy.. he'd likely absorb it with the thirst of a hundred droughts.
