☾. . ° ✦ In theory, things have calmed down. In theory, the worst was behind them, because there couldn't be anything out there that would be more hurtful than a trusted warrior coming out with such grave news, right? The reason behind Pitchstar's murder and recent chaos like the deputy's kits being taken. Couldn't possibly get any lower than that.

And yet, Mirepurr's chest felt tight as they drew in the frosty air. In a way, that was good - they felt terrified because ShadowClan had a lot to loose, and not everybody had the privilege to claim that so boldly. Chilledstar had promised to do things differently. There were a bunch of new apprentices and warriors. The Clan was, more or less, united now.

Their ears flicked as they heard rustle around them. Mirepurr's body was stiff as they crept along the forest floor, trying their hardest to keep their attention on a nearby mouse.

It was probably nothing. Just nature doing its thing.

Snap.

Their heart jumped to their throat in sync with their fur fluffening up to an impossible degree. Mouse forgotten, Mirepurr looked around themself so fast that the trees and the world became a blur, but there was nothing in sight. Were they being this paranoid?

"Who goes there?" They felt silly for calling out - if it really was their enemies lurking behind the shadows, they wouldn't bother answering their scared pleas -, but in their panic, Mirepurr opted to simply trying their luck. They felt too frozen in place to do much else anyway.
