Moving three kittens, no matter how small they might be, is far harder than the boy expects.

Of course, its not as though he could've brought anyone with him - nightingalecry rarely wishes to part from her kits and he's not sure any of the others would understand. And so he vanishes in the dead of night - nothing new really, with his sleeping sickness keeping him awake most nights - and travels to where he knows Micheal will be. He expects it to be the same as the last few times - nothing different, kits not yet arrived.

Boy had he been wrong. Shame faced, he'd realized he'd arrived a bit too late - only arriving in the aftermath of everything. Thankfully, nothing had gone wrong (really, he doesn't know how anyone makes it through such things without medicine cats, but they had.) They exchange words for only a few moments, and then he does what he knows he must - kits swinging in his jaws as he plods along, turning back every few pawsteps to grab another, then repeat. It takes far longer than he'd planned, but he's reluctant to let even a single one of the squirming bundles leave his sight.

By the time he slips into camp, the sun is beginning to rise - many of his clanmates already waking in preparation for the dawn patrols. He ignores the stare, instead carrying the squirming bunch towards the nursery. Cloudcatcher is already waiting, accepting them in quiet silence - no questions asked. They'd planned this after all - she doesn't know the full story of course, only that soon enough he'd have a few more mouths for her to feed alongside her own one of these days. She'd found easy enough to agree - as long as he sought out Sunstars permission.

Only once they're settled - as newborns, they're to young to be away from warmth and milk for long - does he make his way to sunstar. " Sunstar, " he starts, jaw twitching painfully. " Th-they... they have no mother... " not exactly a lie, no they had two fathers. One of blood who could hardly care for himself let alone them, and one of promise who'd think of them as his own despite everything. " C-cloudc-catcher has agreed t-to nurse them... and I w-will work to c-catch twice as much p-prey.... I j-j-just - I c-couldn't leave them to die, " he prepares himself for reprimand, expects to have to beg just as Vulturemask once had.

It'd be worth it. Those kits are his now, and he will fight for them to stay.

AS HE RAISED HIS FIST BEFORE HE SPOKE — It was far from unheard of to find Rattleheart near the nursery in the mornings, checking in on the queens and the kits alike before he headed out for his usual morning patrols or rested until he was needed. He had made a habit of it, knowing that quite a few of the queens were grateful for the distraction of having another fully grown warrior around to talk to. Not to mention one that could help in entertaining their overflowing nursery of kits as well. Though this was far from a usual morning, as the lead warrior found out when he poked his head out from den of gorse. He recoiled as he nearly bumped his nose right into Periwinklebreeze's, only to freeze when he saw what his fellow lead carried in their jaws. "Periwinklebreeze, what...?" He couldn't help the incredulousness in his tone, considering it wasn't exactly as if he had ever expected them, of all cats, to come back with a litter of kittens in tow.

There was little time for questioning though, as the moor runner worked efficiently to tuck the three tiny bundles down near Cloudcatcher's side. Surprisingly, she didn't seem to have any questions about the situation, though Rattleheart couldn't entirely blame her. With how many kittens they had ended up with as of late, the whole thing might not have even been notable if not for Periwinklebreeze being involved. The tunneler doesn't want to be nosy, but he's concerned. Undeniably so, enough for him to follow the other's similarly monochrome form as he went padding towards Sunstar to explain himself. His explanation, though honorable, didn't actually clear up any of the questions that were spinning around in Rattleheart's mind. "Where did they come from?" He had no intention of advocating for them to be thrown out, but there was an uneasiness in his gut. Too many unanswered questions, and he couldn't help but think of Granitepelt's lot out beyond their borders, a group they had already inherited one set of kits from.

Not wanting Perinwinklebreeze to misunderstand, he took a step back and looked between both he and Sunstar. "Not that I think they should go. If they need a home, then Windclan should provide for them. But you have to admit it's not everyday that we just get motherless kits on the border." Had they even come from the border? Or had they come from somewhere beyond it? He looked towards their leader with almost a sense of desperation, hoping that he wasn't the only one with anxious questions lingering in the back of his head. Though, it wouldn't have been the first time.

Of all that he had grown to expect of his clanmates. . . he does not think that this could ever have been among them. The cats that they have welcomed were creatures of circumstance and the deliberation of a moment. Perhaps that is what they had been for Periwinklebreeze as well. The other cats had been necessities. So too must these have been. Yet the circumstance alone is wildly different enough that he cannot make sense of it. Cannot comprehend that there are now more kits among their nursery, already fit to bursting, and that it was Periwinklebreeze that had brought them here. He had seen only the tail end of their adventure ending. Three bodies tucked into another's side, though whose he could not quite tell.

That they had been carried this far without a patrol speaks to both determination and knowledge of what he was doing. Even shuffling his own kits about in their nest had been a trial at the time. To carry them so far. . .

It reminds him, as it must Rattleheart, of times long past. Of a kitten he had grown fond of and said farewell to, and would likely never see again outside of border patrols and gatherings. She had not been his own to grow accustomed to. She had her own father to return to, but even when she did not. . . was that truly his duty to take on? He knows well enough that it was not. His brow furrows. His mouth opens and closes again, and he breathes out sharply through ivory fangs, his gaze off in the distance for one long moment.

"There is not more that you can do past what I expect of you." He says this slowly, the words feeling wrong upon his tongue. All of his natural charisma abandons him in this moment as he stumbles over the repeating sight of three small bodies. "You are a lead warrior; I have asked that you give this clan your all, and this is not a fate you can serve from within the nursery walls." Even as he says this, Sunstar's face is not unkind. Firm, perhaps, with a hard edge to his voice, but they are kittens. And if his clan can balance these bellies well into adulthood, he knows that it will strengthen them. To swell in numbers a year from now, with plenty of warriors to provide for those that come next. . . that is powerful, and he will not pretend it does not sway him.

Yet more than that, they are kits. And a warrior he trusts proclaims their vulnerability. Though a growing headache leaves tension behind his eyes, squeezed briefly shut, he does not argue for them to leave the way that his predecessor would have. "Answer all that Rattleheart has asked. And more, if you know it."

➴➴ They care for the dark-pointed lead warrior. This, they cannot deny. They look into clear blue eyes, and all that they can think of is how much they would like to press their nose to his cheek, to intertwine their tail with the other tom's. They have considered Peri their closest friend for months now.

Now, they do not know how feel when they spot the kits hanging from the jaws of their closest friend. They do not immediately think the worst—there is a chance that Peri has simply brought the kits here to hand them off to a queen and leave it at that. But after passing the kits to Cloudcatcher in the nursery, the tom says that he will work to catch twice as much prey to keep them fed. Gravelsnap understands what this must mean. The lead warrior will not allow these kits to remain parentless for long. Stars, knowing Peri, they have already taken up the mantle of father to the orphans, even if only in their head.

"Periwinklebreeze." He says the other's full name, hazel eyes narrowing as Sunstar and Rattleheart seem to accept the kits' place within the clan. The leader, at least, urges the black-pointed lead warrior to answer Rattleheart's question, and Gravelsnap snorts. "What do you plan to do with them? Parent them?" Say no. Please, say no.

p1qCnee.jpeg

The sound of mewling is what draws Bluepool attention to the scene. There were no kits due that she knew about, none that would have been born today, anyways. Her golden eyes catch sight of Periwinklebreeze, talking to Sunstar, and a frown crosses her features as she moves to join the rest of the group. "I too would like to know the origin of these kits, how did you come across them?" she says, eyes narrowing in unmasked suspicion. She does not want to think badly of her former apprentice, but why was he so eager to play the role of a parent to a bundle of kits that were not his? This whole situation reeked of something that Bluepool could not quite put a paw on.

Her tail flicks impatiently behind her as they wait for an answer, a million and one possible scenarios run through her head, some that she is ashamed to even think but that are there all the same. The word traitor feature in more than one of them, but she is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, willing to listen to whatever explanation he would conjure up but... "It is lucky you found them so quickly, their mother must've birthed them then taken off from the look of them." She had seen plenty of newborn kits in her lifetime, and these were as fresh as a newly hatched chick. Had her former apprentice not taken them straight to WindClan it is certain they would have perished. The suspicion in her eyes and in her voice as she speaks is clear, the question as plain as day. are they yours? because if they were and he had sired a litter from another clan then brought them here then she would ensure of his punishment with her own claws.

Pinkpaw stares openly as Periwinklebreeze enters camp at a kinda weird hour with kinda weird prey. Said prey being kittens, which is crazy! She knows it's a little rude to stare, but maybe it'd be ruder to just run up and start saying a bunch of stuff to him? She can't remember, so she just picks one and hopes that one is okay. New kits mean new friends! And new friends means more fun! She's so excited, she might EXPLODE, and clearly the rest of the clan is excited too, by how they all crowd around Periwinklebreeze. If everyone else is crowding and excitedly talking, that must mean it's okay for her to, right?

Pinkpaw joins the fray, poking her head in beside Bluepool's. " How come WindClan get's like a thousand hundred kits? " she loudly asks. " Is it 'cause we're the best? That's probably why, " she decides, nodding decisively. She clearly understands the mood of this conversation: which is a celebration! Yay! " Yeah! Real lucky! " she agrees, nodding sincerely. " They're so little! I bet you'd parent them real good and stuff! " Does she really know what makes a good parent? Not really, but Brightshine and Heavy Snow were real nice. And Periwinklebreeze is real nice too she's pretty sure, so it'd probably work out!

The joy of new life is not something Dimmingsun celebrates much. Of course, he will shoot happy smiles towards queens when they announce their move to the nursery, will make sure those mothers are safe and fed, will protect their offspring with his life - even play with them without as much as a scoff. It's not the kits themselves he has issue with; something about such a joyous occasion has been soured for him, thanks to the sureness that his own father had not been satisfied with him- seemingly from the moment of birth.

He tries, anyway, but the moment tends to feel strangely awkward for him. At least he has the capacity to not make that obvious to others. That, or just avoid it altogether if need be.

The stirring of Periwinklebreeze is nothing to concern himself over, but when he returns, not alone, Dimmingsun feels inclined to find out what's going on. Normally he wouldn't wish to interfere with business that might not be his to trudge on, but when the quiet wailing of kittens reaches his ears, he finds himself unable to continue resting. He's but a silent shadow as he rounds up on the gathering of lead warriors and their leader.

It's only when they all said what they needed to say that Dimmingsun chimes in. "Does their origin matter?" It's innocent enough of a question. They must be newborn, based on the swift glance he got at the kits before they've been handed off to Cloudcatcher, so they're adaptable and easy to mold into whatever WindClan expects of them. "As long as they haven't been stolen from under a ShadowClan queen's nose - which Periwinklebreeze would never do, anyway - I don't see why it's important."

Gravelsnap doesn't seem quite so thrilled, but Pinkpaw makes up for it with great effort. She already seems to trust Periwinklebreeze with the brunt of parenting, for all she knows about it- or lack thereof. "I'm sure they'd do an amazing job. These kits would be loved and cared for, under his watch."

Periwinklebreeze coming home with kits in tow is not a sight Slateheart could have expected. Of course, his first instinct was to share a glance with Gravelsnap - did they have something to do with this? But his brother looks no less than distraught at the sight unfolding ahead of them. Periwinklebreeze offering to hunt extra, to look after the kits they had brought home. Oh, Gravelsnap, Slateheart thinks sorrowfully. He hasn't seen his littermate sound so cold in so long.

Then comes the question of their origin, a curiosity that each of them seem to share. Rattleheart asks a good question, and Slateheart finds that he cannot deny his own wonder about the newborns, but he holds his mouth in a tightly set frown. On one paw, it would worry him to have mystery kits within the nursery - given all that they had been through in the past (not that he'd think Periwinklebreeze would repeat these dire mistakes), there was some lingering doubt on his conscious when it came to 'orphaned' kittens being taken to WindClan. On the other paw, Dimmingsun is correct, and he glances towards the golden warrior to share his approval. Origin did not define a cat, and he was certain Rattleheart meant no ill by it, but he feels there are more.. pressing matters than questioning where they came from. Such as.. getting them warm, groomed and fed.

"Of course their origin matters." Bluefrost's voice is quiet, but firm; she comes to stand beside Gravelsnap, eyeing her friend with some sympathy. It's clear he isn't pleased to see Periwinklebreeze bring back three strange kits—it's clear no one is, save Pinkpaw, of course. The tunneler gives her chest fur a lick, thinking about how Sootstar would have dealt with this problem. She'd have abandoned them at ThunderClan's border, wolves or no wolves. She knows Sunstar to be kinder, but… "What if they are kittypets? Or—what if their parent comes to look for them and winds up here?"

In a flash, she thinks of Thriftfeather, of his haunting origins, drenched in blood and soaked in mystery. Periwinklebreeze is not the type to harm a new mother, but—

She has been wrong before. She has been so, so wrong. Bluefrost turns her nose up at the kits huddled at Periwinklebreeze's paws. "We should find them somewhere else to go."

"What if,, their parents don't,, want them no more?" Quietpaw's voice wobbled. It's cruel to abandon your kits. Regardless of the reason. These kits were very lucky to be found by Periwinklebreeze and brought back. The arrival of kits is typically a joyful occasion filled with lots of congratulations. And that's how Periwinklebreeze's kits should be treated too. Why not make him their caretaker? He already had a plan and looks fully committed to the whole parent thing. In Quietpaw's mind, they were already members of the clan. Every cat that disagrees just needs a little extra time to get used to the balls of fur.

"Kits can't,, survive,, by themselves," he said. Quietpaw was an older kit when left at Windclan's borders, but it was still in his memory. Being so alone and scared. It was heartbreaking to see it happen to any others. He just hoped that Sunstar would be convinced by the lead warrior's words so they can stay.

⁀➷ "'N where do ya suggest we toss the newborns, then, Bluefrost?" Foxglare speaks gruffly, peering at the tunneler with a hard look in his eye. He'd been content to sit to the side and let Periwinklebreeze explain himself and hopefully start sorting out the situation he brought upon the clan, but Bluefrost's murmurings bordered too closely on infant abandonment for him not to bristle. "Kits that young can't go too far without riskin' em freezing to death," he explained further, agreeing with Quietpaw's comment, though he would be cagey if pressed on how he knew this to be true.

He didn't know where these kits came from, and could not trust fully what the lead warrior had to explain for himself—his bet was on the dark-pointed tom having a lapse into idiocy much like his own father—but he had no doubt that the squirming bundles had as much claim to a safe infancy in the nursery as any other kitten. Though, he shouldn't have expected much principle from a former Amoralist, there was nothin' but blood and air in their brains more often then not.

"That will be enough, all of you." Pinkpaw's voice alone is a welcome reprieve from the growing headache that surrounds him. Like a storm, like this pollen, his clanmates chime in and rally themselves to a frenzy. But he does not allow his voice to lift past the firmness of light ire even as he scrunches his eyes shut and sighs. "Allow Periwinklebreeze to speak before any decisions are made as to what will come next." He knows already that he will not send them off to die. Bluefrost asks after a new home for them — where would it be? In the neighboring clans? He would gift them warriors? The barn, perhaps, yet the twolegs there could hardly be trusted. They had witnessed WindClan's war upon their territory and he worries about what they would think of mewling kittens left nearby.

"I will not allow another clan's kits within our borders once more. If they have a family that waits for them, mother or not, they will be returned." To ask about kittypets and rogues. . . this, he knows he cares little for. Blood mattered none, that much was clear. He stands before them as a former rogue; some of his most loyal warriors came from places far outside of whatever clanborn hopes Bluefrost holds close. Sootstar had treated her kittens as royalty for their closeness to her own blood. Sunstar would not think the same. "If their origins are drenched in blood, Periwinklebreeze will say so himself. We cannot speculate before he has done as much." Do they smell of another clan? Of malnourishment, abandonment? He has not gotten close enough to know. To get attached.

Firefang remembers moons ago a similar situation; a mirror to what she sees now. Their late medicine cat Vulturemask had brought kits himself once, she remembered speaking up pleading for their allowance to stay on the moors. She wouldn't say she had a soft spot for kits but the thought of sending them into the wilds disgusted her, any mother or father who left their little ones defenseless or passed them off weren't worthy of being parents to begin with. Her gaze buries itself heatedly into Periwinklebreeze's pelt her nostrils flaring to try and pick up any scent of where he returned from. She finds nothing but the scent of fresh birth; the faint scent of blood that would go away in a few days time. There is no stench of the other clans in the wind none that she can catch, she can't be certain unless she puts her nose to the kits pelts. Besides she doubts he's the type to be brave enough to defy a second leader by getting close and comfortable with another clan. He wasn't that type of warrior even she knows that, besides she figures something was going on between him and Gravelsnap.

She dislikes Periwinklebreeze greatly - hates him really always has and his rank afforded more of her ire his way but she draws the line with carrying over those feelings to the bundles he'd dropped off so gently. The clan surrounds him like hungry dogs, questions rising into the air and bickering between the sharp mouths directed his way. Some are more willing to be supportive (or far to supportive when it came to Pinkpaw) others like Bluefrost bring up taking them away. Sunstar's command rings out and yet it still to Firefang will never have the ring of finality like Sootstar's did she just blinks at him and pauses before a snort leaves her.

"Drenched in blood?" there's a twinge of laughter in her meow as she repeats him "Your lead warrior isn't the type to steal someone's kits or Starclan above hurt someone to steal their kits" he's to soft for that, no amount of war would break him enough to be that desperate for a family. It's likely the only time she'll recognize him for his rank, one of the few times she'll ever have a need to defend him.

Questions are thrown his way, rapid fire, so quickly he can hardly reply. Still - he's touched by those that do come to his defense, who speak of how heritage hardly matters. These are far from windclans first outsider kits, and somehow he sincerally doubts they'll be the last. He's blank faced, submissive yet unfaltering - not quite confident, but certainly unyielding. He will defend himself and these kits and his choices if he must.

" They w-weren't at the border, " he admits. " But... i c-could hear them from it, and I was worried. They were alone - th-they have no mother. Th-there won't be anyone to c-come looking for them, of th-that I'm certain, " he's always hated lying - hated how easily it comes to him. He is as calm as he has always been - that is to say he stutters, and stammers, but beseeching blue eyes give off a sense of genuine honesty that at any other time he'd loathe himself for. Because it isn't true - not really. Still, if they could follow fading scent trail out beyond the border, they'd find nothing - no one. Michael would be long gone by now, scent gone stale in the cold morning air.

Gravelsnaps words catch him off guard - the hurt that flashes upon his face, the trembling step back that he takes is evidence enough. " I- yes. yes, i w-would, " he's always wanted a family of his own - something he couldn't have. Even if he hadn't been asked, even if he'd just found these kits as he says he had - he'd still make the same choice. One way or another, starclan had led those wriggling bundles of fur straight into his paws, and he'd be damned if he left the opportunity slip by.

" Th-there was no t-twoleg scent - only cat... l-loner born, I think... " Certainly not rogue, because really if periwinklebreeze was soft for a clan cat, certainly his 'friend' would have to be the softest 'rogue' of all if that were the case. Still, ear flicks and tail swishes. " K-keeping them w-will bring no trouble... and if it e-ever does, th-then I'll be th-the first to take responsibility, " he reiterates, spine straightening as sunstar speaks of blood. Firefang of all cats speaks up for him, and he blinks - startled. Backhanded though her words may be, he is still grateful, still relieved.

" I j-j-just - couldn't l-leave them to die, " he repeats once more, voice stronger this time. It's the most honest statement he's spoken all day.

Reactions: Dustpaw!
Azaleafrost is surprised to see Periwinklebreeze come into camp with kittens just like everyone else. Curiosity draws her closer, observing the growing crowd with a scrutinizing gaze. She takes note of the looks her friend receives, and quickens her pace. Just like old times, isn't it? No matter what he does, his loyalty will always be in question. It infuriates her. Old anger begins to resurface as she stands in the crowd, looking at each cat. Bluepool, his former mentor....And since blood is so important- blood of a tyrant. Speaking of blood....

Bluefrost speaks up on why they're origins are important.

She curls a lip in disgust at her and brushes up beside Periwinklebreeze in support. Better the blood of a kittypet than the blood of a tyrant. It's left unsaid, but the venom in her eyes is real. OT lingers a moment before switching to Gravelsnap.

She never liked him. Never approved of him and Periwinklebreeze being together, but kept quiet as she saw things working out between them and tentatively put her plans to warn Gravelsnap that if he ever hurt Peri, she would hurt him, aside. But now it seems like that option is back on the table. The look she gives him is just as venomous as the one to Bluefrost

Was she foolish to believe the scrutiny would stop when Sootstar and her loyalists were driven out? It seems so. To her surprise, she isn't casting a glare at Firefang. The one cat she expects to insult Peri.... Does not. Instead she... Defends him. Azaleafrost isn't sure how to take this. She's right, Peri would never kill or kidnap kits. How Sunstar could ever consider such a possibility is crazy.

She doesn't budge from Peri's side as he explains himself. It's a suitable explanation for her, and she hopes it's a suitable explanation for all the suspicious cats here as well. She's grateful for the cats who take Periwinklebreeze's side, but the ones who speak against him have only her self control to thank that she hasn't dug her claws into their faces.

And Sunstar's presence too, of course.

"Do you think that this world begins or ends with what one cat will do?" he snaps, meeting Firefang's disbelief with a curled lip, a tinge of teeth. "WindClan has been blamed for the actions of traitors. Of a cruel, bloodthirsty cat that stole kittens from beneath another's clans nose and expected us to bear the brunt of it as ShadowClan made their discovery." She has not said it outright, but Sun knows where her loyalties lie. There is no hiding the distance she keeps from the majority of his warriors, or the venomous nature of her encounter with Celandinepaw and Scorpionback. "I do not think him a thief or a murderer, but I must know that no one else had a paw in this." His eyes return to Periwinklbreeze, taking in his story with a knitted brow that barely withholds a storm.

Should there be a lie in his words, it is well hidden. He sees no reason to distrust him, or to question him further. There will be no point in Periwinklebreeze shouldering the blame alone. He knows that it is nothing but show– nothing in this clan comes down upon one set of shoulders. And whatever goes wrong will be his own to resolve. Not the young warrior's. "Tend to the kittens until a decision is made," Sunstar concedes briskly, and clarifies quickly: "They will stay. I will decide what to make of you in time." His words, too tired to be a threat, and not holding any ire beyond that exhaustion regardless, are the final words he will say on the matter. With a flick of his tail, the burnished tom retreats to his den to wait out this pulsing headache.

➴➴ Gravelsnap should be more sympathetic, he knows. He and Slateheart were brought here from outside—though unlike these kits, Gravelsnap and Slateheart actually had a loyal WindClanner for a father. Lynxtooth's loyalty was disproven in the end, anyhow, but their bloodstained arrival into the clan was much different to these kits'. Periwinklebreeze affirms that yes, they intend to raise the kits, and quickly Azaleafrost is at the black-pointed warrior's side, a glare turned on him. Gravelsnap rolls his eyes; she has never been a threat to him and she knows it.

There are too many cats here now, too many pelts pressing dangerously close to his own, and Gravelsnap bristles as one steps a hair too close. It's clear that the warrior is on edge, and Sunstar's words do not help at all to loosen the tension in their limbs. The tom states that the kits will be staying, at least until he has made his decision. Gravelsnap's eel-black tail lashes, but now their displeasure has morphed into something else. Something different. They don't know why this has opened up a hollow pit in their stomach, or why they feel the need to throw something into the gorge.

They don't… they don't understand. Everything was going so well. Sure, Periwinklebreeze has been busy with their duties as a lead warrior, but that had changed so little in the grand scheme of things. Just the other day, before they had gotten stuck in the mud, Gravelsnap had showered the other warrior with compliments and received a response that seemed positive. Was it all in their own head? Does Periwinklebreeze regret telling them that he…

Their jaw clenches so tightly they fear for a moment that a tooth might break. Their gaze focuses in solely on Periwinklebreeze, and the line of their mouth settles into a flat line. "Keep your kits away from me," they rumble, turning their back on the group to stalk away after Sunstar.

*+:。.。 Frightkit is used to cats spontaneously appearing and disappearing, so this is all just another Tuesday for the girl. Happily squeezing past the orchard of legs and lashing tails, the girl would peek up to find Periwinklebreeze of all cats being the one to lead a basket of kittens into camp. Wow! More family! She arrives on the scene just in time for Gravelsnap to, well, snap at her uncle before making his leave, and watching him go she can't help but sniff disdainfully. Blowing a raspberry in his direction, she lifts her head high and announces, " welcome to the family! " since no one else would. " PeriPeriPeri! Did you name them yet? Can I name one? Can they play? Did they come from the barn like Blizzardkit? " ignoring the tension in the air, Frightkit ran around her uncle in circles, eager to get a look at the new residents of Windclan - and her family tree! Did this make her a big sister? Suppose not quite, since they were neither related nor would they be raised by Nightingalecry...but still! Family was family!

As sunstar makes his ruling, peri all but sags in relief - gratefulleness flickering in half-blind eyes. Pelt pressed against azaleafrost, he takes comfort in her closeness - a bitter smile upon his maw as he tries to block out gravelsnaps words. It doesn't work of course - chest aches with hurt at his... friends anger, frown tugging at his lips. He doesn't understand why he's upset - it's not as though this would change anything... right? He's not asking for help, no, he just hadn't wanted them to die (at least that much of his story had been true).

Head shakes, and he gives a friendly nudge to his best friend - turning his attention onto frightkit instead as she cheerfully chirps away. " I have act-ually - you should c-come see them " he says softly, a bit bashful now that so many eyes are upon him. " Dustkit, v-v-vulturekit, and bilberrykit - though th-there a bit to small to play w-with j-j-j-just yet " he says, weaving his way over to the nursery. It seems he's going to be quite busy now - not that he'd expected any less.

Dimmingsun cannot be surprised upon hearing Bluefrost's opinion. She would naturally wish to cast out anyone who has the chance to be weaker than your regular, well-trained WindCllaner at the first instance of hindering them. His eyes stare a hole into the back of her head as his mind wanders and his pawpads get an itch.

Thanks to Sunstar, Dimmingsun doesn't get to open his mouth - regardless if he wants to or not. Bluefrost's heritage would give him too much ammo, too many opportunities for saying something without thinking and starting a fight with the sharp-tongued warrior. And perhaps he'd be too hard on her.

Their sun-kissed leaders orders silence. Dimmingsun is glad for the space between questions and accusations thrown, but Firefang makes sure to break it anyway - with a defense for the lead warrior, no less.

At last, Periwinklebreeze manages to get a word in, and everyone's concerns are finally addressed. Dimmingsun himself had been born in the original Colony, and yet he views himself as a warrior with an outsider's past. Maybe it's his father's stares that spoke way more than anything he might have said, or the knowledge that so much has changed since then. Every day, the cats' lives shift and evolve, and he cannot view the Marsh Colony as anything but a grouping of rogues at this point.

Gravelsnap makes quite a dramatic exit, and curiosity floods Dimmingsun like poison. He knows better than to shove his nose into another's business though, so he joins Frightkit pestering Periwinklebreeze instead- a much more innocent matter. "Do you mind if I also get a glance at them?"
