no angst under the stars ;; cuddle pile

♚ Though Hyacinthbreath was once not the type to enjoy physical touch, she'd found herself leaning into any touch she could get recently. From her kits, the way Periwinklekit leans against her for comfort; to the very way Spiritpaw does the same. The nuzzles of affection in passing, the tails on her back; to when she could nuzzle her face under Pollenfur's own for comfort. All of it was becoming routine for her, and she felt silly thinking about it.

Laid out on the ground, Hyacinthbreath grumbles as she feels one pelt join her side. Then another. Then another. "You're gonna make me sweat my pelt off." Hyacinthbreath complained softly, not putting up much of a fight. This was fine, but she wouldn't admit that aloud. She'd just enjoy the comfort the pelts around her gave.

Yewberry hated being cold, and with leafbare coming, he was going to have to deal with it. He didn't often cuddle up against other warriors, but he had been doing so more often. The need for warmth was more powerful than the need to hide.

And so, he wasted no time curling up against Hyacinthbreath. Her warmth was a relief.

"I'll make it up to you somehow." He says. He wasn't sure if she was joking or not, but it was fine. He didn't mind catching her a rabbit later.

For now he just wanted to be warm.

On the contrary, Coalfoot had no qualms with close contact, and he never had. If anything, he sought it out, and was often the first to give it. It just... came naturally to him. There wasn't necessarily a reason or a why. Well, except right now, probably. It was cold. He was cold. So when he spotted Yewberry settling down with Hyacinthbreath, the marbled tom didn't hesitate.

Soon enough he settled down beside his senior warrior, practically pressed into her and drawing his paws beneath himself, eyes shutting contentedly. "I think it's too chilly to even imagine being hot," he murmured in reply. "If you're that warm, share some with me."

Oh, did the biting air grow ever-vicious, gnawing on skin right down to the bone! Gnashing cold, it was furious and unrelenting, and yet- as a huddle formed and chatter tittered around them all, he felt no urge to join them. What would their bracken-run fur compare to that of a sanguine touch, bathed in the red light? Really, it was for their own good he did not throw his own weight in- to like someone unconditionally he would purge critique from his mind, and in drifting into the fray and letting bristle-fur touch him he knew all he would think about was how it was nothing in comparison.

He resigned to drift on by, ghostlike not in gait but certainly in looming intimidation. Not once did his grin fade, nor did his silver eyes flinch from attention. It was Hyacinthbreath's complaint he heard above the rest, of sweating until her pelt fell away... a humoured chitter left him. "Don't press too close, you'll crush your bones...!" Melodic yet dissonant with humour, he gave his morbid jest with little movement, soon to skip away. They were warned- and hopefully entertained!

♚ Luckily the first two cats to join her are the two cats she most certainly don't mind; kind faces that looked up to her with respect, with affection. She grumbles a soft complaint that quickly dies on her lips, though it's noticeable how she slips in closer to the two toms for comfort. Her head lays over Coalfoot's back, a low purr rumbling in her chest against her will. She was a radiator for body heat, it seemed- despite her small size. Mallowlark doesn't join the pile, but he dances around them; the giggles and grins familiar to the silvery molly. "Your loss." She mumbles softly with a tired grin, kneading into the ground with her paws until she feels drunk with the comfort. Is this what it felt like, to belong somewhere? To truly be loved by others? She feels as if she can grow addicted to it.

"Just for a little while longer, before we have to go about our duties." She mumbles at the end, though it's muffled by black and white fur smushed into her face. He's so fluffy, Coalfoot; and Yewberry was, too. It felt like her tiny body was dwarfed between the two. "Mallowlark is a bit strange, but do not mind him. He is a good person despite his oddities." She remarks simply, giving the tom a generous nod of her head. Even if he didn't join them, his momentary presence was welcome; he skips away soon after, and she's silently hoping his next morbid victim says their prayers.

"Turn A Deeper Blue"
The tom of shadows and snow padded through the camp entrance with a mouse hanging from his jaws, a small catch but it was all he could really find in the chillier atmosphere. Rune went to plop down the mouse onto the smaller fresh kill pile before his bi-colored gaze moved to the pile of cats not too far from him. A smile crept along his maw as he approached, watching Mallowlark skip away happily, and was amused by the sight of Hya with Coalfoot and Yewberry. It reminded him of when the knights and soliders use to cuddle together to keep warm in the freezing mountains during patrols or over night hunts.

"Why don't you all look comfy," Rune mused outloud as he settled down beside Yewberry, "A nap is just what I needed too," He gave the senior warrior a playful look then nudged Yewberry with his muzzle, "We should do this more often," It was a good way to bond, to be comfortable with other cats.

Hyacinthbreath returned the contact by all but burying herself into him, drawing out a resounding purr of his own. Mallowlark's... strange comment was enough to disturb him from his peace, expression crinkled with a mixture of confusion and discomfort. The tunneler mumbled into his fur, drawing him away from the odd feline and back into the comfort, Coalfoot letting out a hum before the purring returned.

Next to join them was Rune, offering the contrasting tom a drowsy grin. He was tired of being cold, and they hadn't even quite reached Leaf-bare yet. If he could get a nice, warm and relaxing moment, then by all means he would take it. Coalfoot shifted onto his side, all but coiling himself around Hyacinthbreath. It wasn't often he got to be so close to others. WindClan had a tendency to be prickly. It made him feel just as warm on the inside as it did outside, face pressing into her shoulder contentedly. "M'sorry," he murmured into her, "but I don't think I'm getting up for a while."

PERFECT LITTLE PUNCHING BAG
periwinklekit | 03 months | demi-boy | he/they | physically easy (pacifist) | mentally easy | attack in bold #ccccff

Content to lie curled up at his mothers side and make up for the hours of sleep lost the night before, Peri simply lets the conversation flow by, only absently listening. He's going to miss these moments of relaxation when he becomes an apprentice - more expectations weighing down upon him, but for now he can only enjoy the time spent soaking up heat from pelts pressed against him, clear gaze blinking slowly, sleepily. It's a nice change from the bitter cold he's grown used to these days, no wind to buffet at his pale fur.

Dapplefoot briefly considered avoiding the whole of the pile, not having been on the best of terms with the head warrior. but it looked too inviting, too familiar and comfortable to pass up. the thick coated cat stretched out against her clanmates, inviting cold noses to warm themselves in her long fur. Her tail draped over rune's back, head nuzzled gently under Yewberry's chin, providing a sort of pillow for the younger cat. She said nothing, letting out a contented sigh once settled. she was just tired, and the feeling of warm bodies dozing against her was something she sorely missed about her old life.

( ) The pile of cats sure looks inviting, Aspenpaw decides, especially considering the chill in the air. While her thick fur provides some respite from the cold, her small frame seems to serve as some sort of beacon for the cold, especially when out on the moors without any cover. As more and more of her clanmates join the huddle, she considers briefly whether or not to find a spot among them - after all, @WEASELCLAW said they were going to work on a new battle move today, and she doesn't want to be lazing around and keeping him waiting when it comes time to head out. But, if all the other warriors were napping together instead of going out on some sort of patrol, then surely it would be alright for her to join them, at least for a little bit, she decides. Aspenpaw finds just enough room to wiggle in beside Periwinklekit, Hyacinthbreath, and Coalfoot, draping her fluffy tail across her brother's back. Already, it's much warmer than sitting out in the breeze, and she lets out a satisfied purr as she settles in. Aspenpaw knows that it's supposed to get colder than it already is, as hard as it is to imagine, and she hopes that this won't just be a one time event as the chill continues to settle over everyone.
( WE'RE ALL JUST SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING )

Solitary as he strived to be, Nettlepaw could not deny basic instinct. And that instinct was to curl up somewhere warm and safe, protected by those he trusted. Oliveshade wasn't about to drag him out on a patrol or for training any time soon, he bitterly noted. He let out a sigh through his nose, soon slinking close to the growing mass of entangled bodies. He would have to scout for a chance to sneak in, and besides a cat he actually knew rather than cozying up to a random warrior. Grey eyes squinted, weighing his options before his sights settled on Coalfoot. Yes, he had spoken to him before, and he had actually helped him with the gorse. Good enough in his opinion.

Wordlessly, the small apprentice crept over a few sprawling legs and tails, careful not to disturb anyone. He flopped down at Coalfoot's black-and-white flank, hesitantly shuffling closer until their fur touched enough to be considered part of the huddle. While he didn't intend on napping, Nettlepaw tucked his front paws beneath his shaggy chest, chin planting on the ground as another low sigh escaped him.
