private A BOY IS A GUN [ 🎀 NIGHTPAW ]

As much as she wants to be the best mentor in the entire world... how can she be when it's hard to even manage a smile right now? It's settled uneasily on her maw as she looks at her apprentice. Her apprentice! She has an apprentice, and it should be one of the best things in the world, really... " Sooo... I'm your mentor, Pinkshine, " she mews. Her tail curls itself over her settled paws, then uncurls. It swishes toward her other side... Why is she so nervous? " Um, you know that already. " Obviously.

She's just having an off day. An off few days... Hopefully she wasn't making the worst first impression ever. " I'm excited, by the way. Um... I hope you know that! " She lets her head loll to the side, glimpsing Nightpaw with wide eyes. The last thing she wants is for him to think she's not. " And- And- Okay We're gonna have lots of fun! Okay? Okay! " It's a reminder for herself as much as it is for him. She tries to sit a bit straighter. A white-striped tail flickers toward a nearby tunnel " I figured we should get to know the tunnels first! Cause I remember I thought they were so weird the first time I went in them! I like, screamed my head off! I'll tell you the easy rules, and then I'll tell you some harder ones later! "

The yawning darkness was familiar to it now, but for a used-to-be kit, it was real spooky, right? Hopefully Nightpaw didn't hate being a tunneler either. She probably would've known already if he did right? " Any questions before we go in? Concerns? I promise there aren't any monsters underground! " Well, not unless monsters to Nightpaw were more like real things like foxes and badgers rather than the shadowy too-many-teethed creatures Pinkpaw had once imagined... But even then, she's probably been threatened by more rabbits underground than anything like that!

Nightpaw sat with tail curled over his paws while listening to his mentor introducing herself to him. That was an unnecessary information to share since he already knew her name, but he suppose he should play along. " My name's Nightpaw your new apprentice." He returned the introduction, even if she had somewhat reclaimed it already. He just figured it might be less awkward for her if he gave her his name anyway, or it might do the opposite. Pinkshine acted a bit weird to be honest not what he was used to seeing from her and it had been ongoing for a couple days by now. Had she still been unable to find her smile again?. Was that the issue behind her behavior?.

She tried to convince him that she was excited to have him as an apprentice but Nightpaw was not fully convinced. To him she did not look excited, not like his sister Bram would look when she was excited or happy over something, or Thea when she find something pretty that she liked. Pinkshine looked more like she was...withering. While he understood fully well that Pinkshine might have her reasons for acting the way she did right now it was difficult to not let the thought cross his mind that maybe he was the problem. It was possible that she might find him weird like this kits did. If that was the case he wonderd how he could fix it.

" I'm excited to learn from you too Miss Pinkshine. I hope we can get along." He said, and gave a respectful dip of his head to her. It would be easier if he had a good relationship with his mentor. She went on claiming they would have tons of fun together, and that made his ear flink. Fun?. Nightpaw was not sure if his father would agree to mix fun and apprenticeship together especially now when leafbare were here, he was not sure how much fun they would be able to have. But if fun was what Pinkshine wanted...if that would make them get along together Nightpaw was not gonna disagree as long it didn't get in the way of his training.

When Pinkshine pointed her tail over to the tunnels they where going to explore Nightpaw followed along with his gaze as he stared right into the darkness, the very place he had been waited so patiently for to get the permission to step a paw into. The apprentice titled his head a bit as he cast a side glance back over at his mentor as she rambled on about her own first adventure into the tunnels. Was it really that weird inside?. Nightpaw had never thought about the tunnels at anything but it being his destiny to go underground. Sootspot, his father, he done nothing but spoken highly of it.

" Monsters?..." His gaze returned back to the tunnels, wondering if he had heard his mentor right. Had she really said monsters?. Nightpaw had thought monsters only lived on thunderpath, weren't they too big to live underground?. The apprentice twtiched his nose in thoughts, puzzled. Shaking his head, Nightpaw finally turned his head back around to look at the calico. " I'm good. I will let you know if i come up with any." he promised, not having any questions at the moment since he already knew the basic. To never wander in there alone and to stick with his mentor once inside there. The rest he expected Pinkshine to teach him.

Reactions: PINKSHINE
Miss Pinkshine, he says. It's so funny that he calls her that... She should focus on that: on how funny it is, and not anything else. Er, not anything bad, anyways! " Aw, you don't gotta call me miss! " she tells him. They were gonna be friends! Like, best friends! " We coulda been denmates if you were born, like... " Uh, how old was she now? She's been alive for at least a season... She knows that much. She remembers... Sunstride. Sunstride and Sootstar... So that was only like... um... She squints. " Uhh, well whatever! Point is: we're friends now! So don't worry about the miss. Unless you want to, I guess? But like, don't! We will get along, of course! There's like, one cat in the entire world that I don't really get along with, and that's... "

...Oh! She'd completely forgotten Nightpaw was kind of... Sootspot's kit. How did that happen? When did that happen? Who had fallen in love with Sootpsot? No offense... " -doesn't matter! " Smoothly recovered, yeah. Her tail is restless again, candied stripes flickering behind her.

Nightpaw seems to look contemplatively towards the tunnels, and Pinkshine tries her best to look super patient. Cause that's her. Super duper patient. The most patient, like, ever...! She expects the questions to tumble forth from the eager mind of a was-a-kit, but when his gaze returns to her, they don't come. Pinkshine blinks, bewildered. " None at all? " Her ears shift atop her head. " Okay... So long as you promise you'll tell me. Follow right after me, kay? "

Pinkshine ducks into the tunnel, only taking a few steps at first before pausing to feel the footsteps of Nightpaw behind her. They wouldn't go far today... she just wants to get him familiar! " Now I know it seems spooky... but remember: you always have your ears and your whiskers? If you're ever somewhere open enough that you can't feel your surroundings and you start freaking out... just stop a moment to feel the walls! " she tells him. Now, she allows herself to walk, albeit slowly. " And get this: you're never gonna be alone. Even when you're a full warrior, you should always be with someone else, kay? Cause like... scary stuff can happen, but it's way less likely to be scary so long as you've got someone with you. I like to come to the tunnels with Downyfur a lot! Maybe you can do the same with Heatherpaw, later! "

Hopefully she wasn't like, talking too much? She's quickly figuring out that Nightpaw doesn't do a whole lot of that... but then, she'd kinda thought the same of Featherspine, once upon a time. " You doin' okay? "
