A PARASITE NEEDS A HOST // 'fighting'

Lividpaw was annoyed. The whole day he had been followed around by his brother like a lost puppy. Basilpaw had been alot more clingy today then usual. It had only been yesterday since their father had decided to abandon them to runaway to live his life as a rogue. Lividpaw had been looking forward to his first day in freedom but his foolish brother refused to give him even one moment of peace. It was annoying him more then it usually did. Normally, he had a high tolerance for them but for some reason he had this itch today that just grow worse and worse for each and passing moment he had to spend time with them.

" Here! i brought your favorite food!." Basilpaw dropped down a lizard in front of his very paws. Lividpaw emotionlessly stared down at the lizard that his brother claimed to be his favorite prey to devour. " That's not my favorite." he looked up at them with bemusement as he watched that big wide grin on his brothers face start to wither by his coldness. Good. He was starting to feel sick of seeing that grin. " Oh...really?. Sorry, i thought it was..." Did he now?. Whatever, it didn't really matter.

Lividpaw pushed the lizard away as he got up on his paws and turned his head away. He wondered what he could do just to get a peaceful day just for himself and his mentor without Basilpaw chasing him around everywhere he went. In the first place what was the point of this pretend anymore?. Crawlingheart was gone, his ties with them cut. Maybe there was one more thread he needed to cut.

" Why don't you tell me what you want? i can run back and get it for you!." Basilpaw tried like he could fix any of this like the desperate fool he had always been. Lividpaw cast them a side-glance. Once more he grinned brightly at them, and once more he felt that annoying itch he couldn't get rid of. In that moment he decided that he had have enough of all of this. He wanted to be set free once and for all.

" What will it take for you to get it. Not can you be that dense." Lividpaw turned his head to face them directly again as he watched his brother take a step back in suprise. Really?. " I don't get how you can be so persistent to chase after something that was never there to begin with. " Sometimes he wonderd if his brother just acted dumb or if he actually was dumb.

" Brother...? what are you..." Basilpaw didn't get to finish because Lividpaw wouldn't let them. It was about time to throw the truth into their face weither they wanted to hear it or not. " Father never cared for you Basilpaw. Not even once did he actually look at you. In fact he couldn't stand looking at you wearing the same face of the molly who stole his mate away. He never even once acknowledged your existence and still you kept on chasing after his approval acting like we were a normal family." It was pathetic, embarassing to even watch them all of this time. He simply couldn't understand such misguided devotion.

Basilpaw should have find himself lucky to be nothing but a ghost in their fathers eyes. Lividpaw would have done anything to swap places with them to live a life there Crawlingheart wouldn't even have looked their way. Did he even understand the cost of their fathers so called 'affection'. It made him sick to think about. His brothers behavior had always been something he had looked down on. Basilpaw could best be descripted like an illness to him, or perhaps even a parasite.

" It's time for you to wake up that we were and never will be a family. That you mean absolutely nothing to me. " He told his true feelings without sparing them the slightest of his coldness. He didn't care anymore how it would make his brother feel. Lividpaw had already decided he wanted nothing to do with them anymore. To share the blood with a such weak corward was embarassing.

" But...broth-"

" Don't call me that anymore." Once more he would cut them off, his eyes narrowed into sharp icicles. Lividpaw then proceeded in taking a step back to turn himself around so his back faced them now. Still he took his time to cast a look back at them from his shoulder. " You and i are no longer brothers." Came his final and most brutal blow of them all. But Lividpaw didn't care because with this words he was finally free from his family and their pathetic drama. He wanted no part in it. He already knew where he was heading and on that path to glory there was no Crawlingheart or Basilpaw. There never had been.

and so he left to leave Basilpaw behind, stranded with absolutely nothing.

Forestshade had been padding towards the fresh-kill pile to deposit her most recent catch of frogs when she'd overheard the apprentices. Basilpaw and Lividpaw, neither of them really concerning her. The former is sort of annoying, she thinks, but the latter...something about him always seemed cruel. She never did pay much attention, though. Until now, when voices rise and anger and sadness mix and melt in the air, causing her fur to stand on end. She pauses in her steps, ears flicking as blind eyes narrow. Yeesh! Talk about cold!

As Lividpaw departs, she begins to feel a bit sorry for the apprentice left behind. She doesn't really know how serious this whole conversation had been, but that would be a hard thing for anybody to hear. Briefly, her conversation with Briarpaw crosses her mind...and she swiftly forces it back out. Instead, she pads over to Basilpaw and drops the frogs she'd been holding. "Hey kid...you alright?"

*+:。.。 " You and i are no longer brothers."

Bonepaw's ears flattened, a rush of heat burning through his chest as he turned narrowed eyes upon the pair - now singular - brothers. To say such...awful things...Lividpaw had been a cat Bonepaw hadn't minded much. He was always interesting to watch, with every move always so calculated, eyes trained upon ClanRock as if seeing himself, one day, standing upon it. Bonepaw can't entirely say he understands that ambition, but if it means making life easier and safer for his family, then maybe he'd pursue power as strongly as Lividpaw seems to.
But Lividpaw doesn't hold the same motivation.

Bonepaw can't help the low growl in his throat as he pads after Forestshade, coming to stand beside Basilpaw as he watches the rejected sibling's brother go. "What a rotten cat" Bonepaw hisses, disgust lathering his tone with venom. Siblings are known to squabble - not Bonepaw's, but sure, most do - but to disown a piece of your family for...for what, exactly? "A foolish one, too" he murmurs, wondering then what Lividpaw could gain from losing his closest ally.

Looking sideways at Basilpaw, glancing between him and Forestshade, Bonepaw realized now would be a good time to comfort the tom. He...wasn't quite sure what to do, though. So he stands quiet instead.

Forestshade and Starlingheart had spent a considerable ammount of time together as queens. They hadn't slept in the nursery together, of course, but their kits kits had grown up with one another. The fight that unfolds before them reminds her greatly of her own youth, after her mother had died and her siblings had all isolated themselves from one another. From her. They had left her alone when she had needed them most and while now the wound had healed over, the betrayal forgiven, she still remembers the way it had felt. It had been claws wrenched into her heart, like blood turning to ice in her veins. What Lividpaw had said was cruel but... surely he didn't mean it, right?

She watches with a lone green eye as the apprentice departs and then watches as Forestshade drops a frog in front of the sibling left behind. Bonepaw states that Lividpaw is rotten and while Starlingheart agrees that what he did was not right, there is a part of her that understands. "S-siblings fight" she states softly "I hope in-in time he can see that-that he's wrong." And then she looks to Basilpaw, waiting for his answer to Forestshade's question with a concerned look painted on her soft features.

Family quarrels are not anything too known for Mirepurr. With StarClan's blessing, they've had the fortune of a relatively normal upbringing, excluding their mother's ever-present sickness. Perhaps it's been a source of pain and thus rising tension between them sometimes, but Mirepurr likes to think they've grown to be mature enough to know how to handle all that. Younger siblings can be a pawful sometimes, too, but no fight such as this has ever occurred between them all. It's sickening to watch, and they feel helpless.

The Clan watches, and Mirepurr waits with bated breath to see how poor Basilpaw would react. His silence just proves it to be shock - and understandably so.

Forestshade gets to him before they do, and they're thankful to see another warrior concerned enough to approach. Soft blue eyes take Basilpaw in, and they wish they could just wrap themself around him to offer comfort. That might achieve the opposite effect though, so they refuse to encroach someone's space at a time like this.

"For what it's worth, it was kind of you to bring him prey." Their voice is low, meant only for the apprentice. They eye the lizard, the lifeless thing having been pushed away like it's nothing more than crowfood. Lividpaw definitely seems like a youngster who requires some attention, too, but definitely not so soon after this outburst. "It's okay. You just wanted to be nice."

[ ༻❄༺ ] Snowpaw had never liked Lividpaw, he was always one who tend to...well, cold. She watched how Lividpaw acted around Basilpaw while the other only did was be a sibling, something Snowpaw had always wanted, a kin, someone who had their own blood running through their own vein. Yet, yellowcough took that chance from her when it took both of her parents, and to see how Lividpaw treated Basilpaw angered her. Sure, he can be annoying, but Snowpaw had learned to tolerate and push pass that part of Basilpaw that she didn't mind it much anymore.

To hear Lividpaw cut his ties with the tom, and the comforting words coming from the others who had witnessed the whole thing just as Snowpaw had while yellow eyes seared into the walking form of Lividpaw before she came to stand near Basilpaw with an apologetic look in her gaze. Making her think, she could be a better sibling to Basilpaw than his own kin. "He doesn't deserve your kindness Basilpaw" she stated softly, glancing over towards those who also came to comfort her friend, someone she secretly considered a brother, the tip of her tail twitching slightly.

Everyone else seems to watch the scene with frowns upon their faces, as though lividpaw has done something wrong - but Swallowpaw only looks thoughtful. The boys head tips to the head as he takes in retreating form, before mismatched turns onto basilpaw contemplating. The other cats comments go in one ear and out the other, before he finally speaks up - " Have you tried to be less annoying? "

He doesn't even mean to be mean - he's being brutally honest in his question, confusion flicking across his gaze. Stars knows swallowpaw has been yelled at enough times, and called far worse things - bratty, annoying, bothersome, loud, rude... honestly, the list could go on but it's not really about him right now, right? And snowpaw had been less.... mean, at least a little, when he'd stopped being so annoying, even if that had been for scorchedmoons sake than anything. Of course, snowpaw isn't his sibling, but it still seems like good idea to the child.

He says as much aloud. " That's why snowpaw hates me, I think- but we're not siblings, " the thought makes his stomach churn, and as he says the words he looks a bit disgusted. No, sneezepaw and singepaw are far better siblings than snowpaw would ever be.

Basilpaw just stared after his brother in disbelief as they just walked away after having deliverd the most savage words Lividpaw ever could have said. You and i are no longer brothers. Out of all the horrible things his brother had just said that one for sure cut deeper than anything else. He was used to this - used for his brother to act cold towards him at this point he shouldn't even be surprised. Everything Lividpaw had said was not exactly untrue. Sooner or later Basilpaw would have to drop the act but sometimes a lie was far more comforting then facing the truth.

"Hey kid, are you alright?." Forestshade asked and Basilpaw slide out his claws as he dug them into the ground. " Ah-huh." he replied without even looking at her, wouldn't make any difference anyway since she was blind. He closed his eyes as he took in a deep breath. Everything was fine, nothing had changed. It never would. "Yup-yup!! of course i'm fine !!" he suddenly burst out cheerfully and as he turned to face all of them he was grinning widely. Starlingheart seemed to get it. " Why...why wouldn't i be, huh?....every family has fights now and then!. Besides!, i should have known that Liv didn't like lizards!. " he contunie his cheerfully charade while choking down his own emotions. Blaming it all on himself. Basilpaw had done something wrong again. He always seemed to be even when he didn't try to mess things up. Bonepaw though did not calling his brother for rotten.

" What?, no...no he is not. Liv is just upset because father left yesterday!. I'm sure he didn't mean it...he just needs some space right now. I should...i should have known that!." his charade was growing weaker, patheticly so. Basilpaw bite down on his own tongue as punishment. He clenched his teeths as the edge of his lips started to hurt as he kept his grin up refusing to let it wither away.

Mirepurr attempted to make things better, to give credit for his efforts despite the little reward he received from it. Kind she said, nice he was. It was funny how she said that when it never seemed to be enough. Perhaps kindness was not the way of winning his brothers heart.

and then there was Snowpaw using the word kindness to but all he could hear him say was they don't deserve you. Basilpaw knew for a fact that Snowpaw was not fond of his brother. He had made it clear a couple of times now. His whole family just seemed wrong to them. Basilpaw always danced around the topic telling lies to make it seem alot better then it was. But today, right now Basilpaw did not wish to hear it. " But he needs me..." it slipt out quietly so but deep inside he knew it was the other way around.

Swallowpaw's words made him flinch. " Have you tried to be less annoying?." Aha, that...that was....true?. Did Lividpaw think that way about him?. Basilpaw's claws dug deeper into the dirt and his eyes grow wider, pupils smaller. His grin grow even more. " Hah...haha...th-that's funny." his chuckling got stuck in his throat as he tried to laught about it. Less annoying?, less kind?. Was that it?. Was that how he could win his brother back?.

//sorry if this makes no sense but basil is not suppose to make sense lol
