The morning after the gathering is spent lounging in the shade of the gorse wall with Grasspaw, one of Ferretpaw's closest friends. There has been an aura of jealousy about her the night of the gathering, but she does well to hide it now - whether she has moved on, or simply pretends she's feeling better. That is, Grasspaw had went to the gathering without her. Ferretpaw channels all of her bitterness into curiosity and gossip; unlike with Frightpaw, she wouldn't dare raise her voice at her younger friend. No matter how frustrated she was.

" Soooo, " she begins, long and drawn out with a cheeky smile. " Tell me about the gathering, Grasspaw! What happened? Who was there? " The fawn apprentice leans her head forward, looking him in the eye with eagerness. " Did you hear any.. secrets? Come onn, you gotta have something to tell me! " It was owed to her after he left without her, she thinks - even if it wasn't by his choice.

FERRETPAW ( she/her )

( ooc ) please wait for @Grasspaw !

𓆝 . ° ✦ He wasn't overly interested in all the political nonsense their leaders had to do. And with Midnightpaw basically stuck to his side with sap, he hadn't gotten much of an opportunity to socialize either. Ferretpaw's general excitement did put a smile on his face, he liked seeing her when she wasn't so... aggressive. "Uh, ShadowClan has a new leader, Smogstar," he mewed. "And a new medicine cat apprentice. Her name is Marblepaw," redness tinted his ears at her mention. "I got to talk to her for a few minutes, she's um, y'know, really nice,"

Yeah, he was eavesdropping. How, couldn't he? He was all but enjoying a light snooze nearby, but he woke up at Ferretpaw's drawn out voice. So, he's awake and he's interested in whatever the tunneler apprentices were talking about. "Oh? New shadowclan leader?" Sheeppaaw all but slides up bounds up at the two chattering tunnelers apprentices. He wasn't interested in grownup stuff like politics and stuff. Yuck. Boring! The black smoke was a social creature when awake (mostly), he plops himself to sit next to Grasspaw on the fawn tabby. He lets his gaze rest on his fellow apprentices for a moment, before looking back at his small friend. He lets out a hum when Ferretpaw asks Grasspaw who was there and blah blah. Gossip stuff. He is also interested in who the fawn tabby saw at the Gathering.

He tilts his head when he hears Grasspaw reply to Ferretpaw's questions. New medicine cat apprentice? Ohhh. He perks up at the name of Marblepaw. What a cool name. Wait- No, nevermind! He thumps his plumy tail behind as he thinks momentarily on the matter, before giving up."Woah. A new leader and new medicine cat apprentice? Wicked!"

Not being a -paw anymore means that Cottonsprig has even more reason to ignore as much of the petty kitten-gossip as possible. And yet, just like with Rowanpaw before, the she-cat cannot help but overhear the discussion. To her it seemed far more peaceful than the insults that were sent the chimera's way, but given that Ferretpaw is in the conversation... her ears fold back, almost fearful that somehow, this conversation will turn sour.

"Marblepaw's pretty nice, isn't she?" the blue smoke chirps as she joins the youth briefly. Her fur ruffles slightly, though she plays it off with the breeze. "I met her a few weeks ago, at the moonstone. She seems excited to learn all about herbs, and the like..." Maybe the apprentice's will find flaw's in ShadowClan's newest gem, but she tries to keep her opinions on the young girl rather neutral.

The snakelike chimera's eyes had been on the four for some time, their gossip reaching ears that twitched madly at their opinions. As the marshlanders lived and breathed, he was not safe, and not only did Sootspot not wish to be a martyr, he knew the clan would not realise the boon they'd lost should he fall. The Tunneler moved closer, smiling. "You are too quick to forget ShadowClan's inferiority." His words weren't as pointed as his thoughts, they were gentle, like an elder telling kittens of an innocuous story - and not a reminder that the other clans were weaker than WindClan. At least, they had been for a long time. There was a softness to the conversation now that Sootspot'd never have expected from moorlanders, his skin crawling as he tried to find out how he was supposed to fit in with such tame lions. "They strike our leaders before the Stars and invade our land, yet, you all speak as if you are excited for them." He didn't care for 'Marblepaw', another spoiled brat who'd gotten StarClan's approval before him, but Smogstar was another story entirely. The Tunneler didn't know for certain if the grey tabby knew of his attempts to save Halfpaw and Laurelpaw from a doomed life, but if he did, well, he doubted the peace between them would remain for long.
