Flurryjump had always been adventurous, and a little bold, known for occasionally stepping a little outside the lines. Her curiosity had no bounds, and her boldness often led her into situations that others might consider reckless. She could still remember a time before the clans, a life where the idea of borders and rules hadn't quite made sense to her. The freedom of movement, unburdened by restrictions, still called to her sometimes. It made it easy to forget about the careful boundaries that had been established once she'd joined ThunderClan all those moons ago. It was that same free-spirited nature that now led her to venture far beyond where she should have been.
Today, without realizing it, she'd wandered into neutral territory. It was better than walking into another's territory, but hunting this far from camp alone would probably earn her a scolding. A mouse had garnered her attention, and she'd gone after it, completely forgetting about staying within the defined lines of Thunderclan. Prey was abundant in ThunderClan's territory, and Flurryjump's hunts had become less about the desperation of survival and more about the fun of the hunt itself. It was almost a game to her now, her mind treating it as a leisurely activity rather than a stressful necessity. Of course, all the prey was eaten, and being wasteful was against the code, but she did have fun with it regardless. With a flick of her fluffy tail and a sudden leap, she dropped down onto the mouse. She missed it by a hair, her claws grazing the air where it had just been. She dashed forward after it, her paws working furiously to cut off the mouse's escape route. She slapped her paws down in front of it as it skittered this way and that, trying to stop its escape.
"Hey now! Just—sit—still!" she laughed, her voice light and full of amusement as she tried to pin the mouse with her paws. But before she could catch it, the little creature slipped over her paw and scurried into the safety of the brush. "Drat!"
She huffed in frustration, but there was a spark of laughter in her eyes, even as she watched the mouse disappear into the undergrowth. For the first time since locking onto the rodent, she looked around. "Oops... I think I went a little too far..."
