"You'll Never Be Unloved By Me"
An excitable hum drummed through large paws as they picked their way across the camp towards the entrance of the clearing. The night was quiet aside from the gentle slumber of the other warriors in the den and the sky above had a few light grey clouds drifting across the inky blackness. The moon hung like a claw in the sky and barely let any light in the between the tree tops. The ground was squishy and wet from the pervious rain fall and melting of the snow, and crickets could be heard very faintly in the distance. Sleep was avoiding the blue tabbys mind and thus he had snuck out to stand guard inside the camp even though they already had someone doing that.
It was weird, this feeling in his chest, that he felt the need to sit vigil outside the camp. Watch over his new home for the night to ensure their safety and wondered if this was something all new warriors felt? The excitement and joy of making it, of having achieved something, and now could live life to the fullest? Must be cause he could feel how Quillstrike and Twitchbolt looked, how Basilpatch seemed proud. Deep green eyes moved from the sky above to the gorse tunnel of Skyclans' camp.
It was strange. Normally he would be home by now, curled up in his twolegs bed and belly full of wet food. Wouldn't be here, in the midst of the forest watching out for a group of cats that had become something of a family to him. If it hadn't been for finding Pinataflurry, from hearing stories about the forest cats, Ashenclaw wasn't sure where he would be. Probably father to several litters he'd never get to see or even replaced by a younger kitten even. He wasn't that old, barely three, but that was besides the point.
The thought did bring forth his wonder about his twolegs. Would they miss him? Would they come looking for him? Or would they just get another cat? It was saddening to think about. They had been all he knew for the last couple of years of his life. They fed him, loved him and everything like that. Though he had made his choice, and he would stick by it. Skycaln had won over his heart. The forest was welcoming and he saw the world with a new lense per se. Ashenclaw gave a soft sigh through his nose and relaxed his shoulders as he sat there under the moonlight.
