BORN TO FIND THAT GREAT UNKNOWN ⋆⁺₊⋆
The sun was a little past sun high. The red tabby lay stretched out alongside the outside of the nursery wall, watching Stormkit and Falconkit play. The fur on her shoulder twitched anxiously as she glanced at the camp's entrance every few minutes. Flycatcher had promised to spend some time with them later on, and he should be back any minute now. After his promotion, part of her had worried that he would be too busy with his new job to spend time with her or the kits, and she knew it was a childish worry. Things would be different after their kits and her were allowed out of the camp.

"Your father should be back any minute." she would say softly, doing her best to hold back the excitement that sparkled in her gaze. She didn't want to get them too excited in case something came up.

"Smack!" Stormkit yipped as she aimed to leap on her brother's shoulders. If successful, she'd wrench her tiny weight down and try to bunny-kick her elder brother's soft stomach. Her behavior was generally better and more comfortable in the nursery. With the reinforced walls and decorative spring flowers, ThunderClan was continuing to bounce back stronger with its cats.

"Where's he at?" Stormkit wondered, still trying to batter Falconkit. "Is he talking to Howlingstar?" She assumed deputies must do that often.

One downside to becoming deputy meant that his duties around the clan had increased. There want things he was now responsible for and for overseeing. Flycatcher was happy to serve of course, but he missed the spare time he had as a lead warrior, and warrior before that. He suspected that time would change that but for now it was still a bit of an adjustment from his previous life.

When Flamewhisker had asked if he could spare some time, that day Flycatcher had readily accepted. After assigning patrols for the morning, and completing some minor tasks around camp, Flycatcher hurried to find his family. Stormkit was trying to pounce on an unsuspecting Falconkit, whereas Flamewhisker watched nearby. Stormkit asked about where Flycatcher was and he could not help but burst out at that very moment. "I'm here!" He said, beaming at his children. He looked at them affectionately before glancing at Flamewhisker. "Sorry it took a while," Flycatcher said apologetically. "The patrols took a bit longer to organise than I expected."

She watched as Stormkit tried to tackle her brother. The queen blinked affectionately, and a purr rumbled in her throat. One day they wouldn't just be playing kittens...they would be fierce warriors. Falconkit was quite larger than his sister, but she was still scrappy despite her size. She couldn't wait to hunt with them, and spar with them, and for them to tell her what they learned from their mentors every day. The thought made her feel warm inside.

Her eyes closed for a moment, and when she reopened them, she saw Flycatcher headed towards them. Her gaze lit up, and she rose to her paws, trying to ignore the sharp sting from her bruised side. He apologized for taking awhile, but she didn't mind, all she cared about was that he was here. She would push her head underneath his chin affectionately. "So what would you guys like to do today?" she would ask, glancing at the kits, her head still pushed underneath his.
