All The Dogs Would Lick Your Fingers | Kestrelpaw

𓆝 . ° ✦ As Mosspool padded across the stepping stones that led out of camp, an apprentice that was not her own trailed behind her. It was a rare occurrence. She had observed that apprentices were not often eager to ask her for advice, which bothered her. After all, she was an excellent teacher. Duckpaw was living proof of that; she was improving by leaps and bounds with every day they trained together. Just because she was a 'hard-ass' - or whatever else they had elected to call her - that should not dissuade them from seeking her out for instruction.

Hopefully this would serve as proof to all of them how valuable her insight could be.

Wordlessly, she led Kestrelpaw further and further from camp, taking her down in the direction of Sunningrocks. With Windclan presently occupying beech corpse, she had no intentions of taking an apprentice anywhere near there. At least not without a whole patrols worth of warriors at her side. Once she deemed they had gone far enough, she turned and regarded the apprentice. "What scents can you pick up?" Mosspool asked, keeping her voice low and even as to not disturb any nearby prey.

The purpose of the question was twofold; to encourage Kestrelpaw to practice using her senses to track prey and to test her abilities. Mosspool was not as familiar with how Kestrelpaw's training was going as she was with her own apprentice, so it was wise to get some measure of that before she began her instruction.
