It was becoming a real challenge to drag her tired paws in and out of camp every day. But she must do it. She hadn't properly slept or really ate since the wolves had invaded camp. Every breath she took, every bite of prey that touched her tongue felt selfish when she knew that some of her clanmates would never have those luxuries again, and it was largely her fault. She looked as haggard as she felt, and her lack of self-care was beginning to show. Even her sky-colored eyes, which usually mirrored the fire in her heart, looked dull and dead. It was all starting to truly take its toll now, and she wasn't sure how much more she could take.
She understood their anger and bitterness towards herself and her friends, she really did. It was warranted, and she wouldn't fault them for their disappointment. But the anger was growing now, both in herself and her clanmates, and it was heading towards a dark and dangerous resolution. Some days, she wondered to herself if there was even any point in staying in Thunderclan. This was her home, she had lived here all her life and she always imagined that she would someday die a warrior's death protecting it. But it was being made obvious that no one wanted her here anymore, so why should she stay? It was only causing all of them more pain. The nights were long and dark, and she had no one left to turn to. Her parents were long dead, and everyone who had ever cared about her now hated her. Her former mentor and all her friends had cast her aside. There was nothing left.
The only good thing she could manage to do now was hunt for her clanmates. She'd been spending a large majority of her time hunting for the nursery, and bringing them their food was about the only good part of her day. She loved playing with the kittens, because they were the only ones who didn't look at her with disdain. But today the nursery had already been cared for, and she knew that Gentlestorm had been working himself to the bone lately with all the deaths and injuries. She'd found herself spending more time than usual with the medicine cat on all the patrols they'd gone on, and she liked his company more than most. She wanted to make sure he was okay, too. So the young warrior staggered towards the medicine den, a fat mouse caught between her jaws as she peeked her head inside. "Gentlestorm? Have you eaten yet?"
