and i'm feeling like a ghost | sunstar

The sound of heavy pawsteps alerted the chocolate tabby to his former mentor's approaching presence. Although the older tom lingered behind, the young warrior continued to peer from the top of outlook rock. "How heavy is the mantle your shoulders bear, Sunstar?" Addervenom drawled, penetrating the silence surrounding him. Was it crushing? Bearable? His mother wore leadership well, or so he thought. It was not until the buildup of her final moons did he struggle to uphold her demands. His gaze pulled away from the drop below his paws to rest upon his former mentor. It is here that he stares. Soaking in the image of windclan's adored king and his mother's murderer. There is a part of him that longs to resent the rosette tabby for what he's done, he knows this. But he cannot find it in himself to do so.

Again his attention turns, returning to the moors where he watches the sun dip below the hills and paint the sky shades of scarlet and mandarin. "Have things panned out the way you hoped?" He murmured. The clan he witnessed now was vastly different from the one he grew up in and the suddenness of it all remained a shock to his system. (@SUNSTAR)
