oneshot AND LOVE YOU MORE - oneshot - THAN THE DAY BEFORE

Though she didn't know the exact day that she'd been born, Moonpaw knew that it was around this time, she knew that now she had been through a full rotation of the seasons, a full four seasons of being able to see the outside of the camp and run through the territory, of training, death, birth, heartbreak and so much more. It felt so much longer than four seasons since Moonpaw had been a kit, running around and playing with the others, somehow even longer since she'd been apprenticed and explored the territory for the first time. She thought of the beginning fondly, of how she'd found flowers and shells out in the territory and brought them back within that first week of being an apprentice to bring them to then Beekit, and though she thought of this fondly it made her chest hurt, her throat to feel itchy and her ears warm. Instead of dwelling on the past in that moment she cleared her throat and moved to her nest.

Paws worked carefully as the apprentice moved gifts she'd received out of the old moss so that she could keep them still. Aged flowers that were beginning to become brittle were moved to their own section near the herbs, a small place that she could keep them safe without having to worry about accidental paws trampling on them or them being blown away by movement of cats when they rushed in and out. The lotus from Salmonshade, the pansies from Nettlepaw, peony from Lichentail were all moved to this spot, drying out from long seasons of being plucked but still keeping their beauty despite it. A pink-stained paw moved to the violets and camillas next, pausing for a moment as that ache in her chest struck her once more before she carefully moved them as well to be placed on top of the small little pile of flowers. Duck feathers were next to be moved, though she planned to put them within her new nest once it was made and carefully they were placed to the side as well, that ache turning to fluttering as she remembered Beepaw bringing her the gifts and quietly she pushed it down once more as old moss was moved outside her den and new moved around as she weaved a new nest together. Duck feathers were placed back within them and the nest was moved closer to the flowers she'd left out, unwilling to part with them and wanting to remain close to them.

Eyes looked down at white paws once more, landing on the pink paw-print shaped stains that cover her fur and a small smile makes it's way onto her face as she remembers the night before, and though she does not want it to that fluttering returns, though this time she doesn't ignore it or push it away, this time she lets it sit as she stares at paws stained pink by the one who she realized, now, that she loved.
