Kite's head is full of the tales of Skyclan and the connections between their clanmates as well. The connections of those that are the tabby's friends are most important to Kite. Sorrelsong, Florabreeze's mentor. The smoked molly seems rather approachable, the fear of being ignored by Sorrelsong was not an issue for them. What was an issue and causing Kite plenty of anxiety was the closeness Florabreeze has to Sorrelsong, the two have a long history and it is obvious to Kite that Sorrelsong is dear to Florabreeze. The anxiety comes from a strange place that Kite is unfamiliar with: will Sorrelsong find Kite to be a suitable friend to her former shadow or would Sorrelsong disapprove of Kite's checkered (unclear, unspoken of) past as Slate seems to be.

"Sorrel....song." Kite murmurs around a squirrel as they saunter towards the smoked molly, tail twitching nervously along their haunches. Sorrelsong is resting besides the stump and Kite approaches on unsure paws. Anxiety they feel in this moment is not noticeable on their monotonous features that twist downwards into a thin frown, but a keen eye could notice the way in which their tail twists and turns uneasily. Kite sets the squirrel down and then sits down lightly, ready to swiftly depart if their arrival was unwanted.

"Would you like to... share this squirrel?" Kite lowers her head and nudges the squirrel closer to Sorrelsong and straightens rigidly. "If I could... may I talk about Florabreeze with you... I know you are close with her..." The name dances from Kite's lips and a hardly noticeable gleam shines in their dull eyes as they think of themself under the tree with Florabreeze where she had confided in them about her daughter. They hope Sorrelsong will accept the squirrel and entertain Kite's coming questions...

SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

"Kite," The molly greets with a dip of her head. The smoked molly's paw ache and complain as she shifts to face the black and brown cat. She hadn't seen much of the cat one-on-one, but had noticed them take a shine to Florabreeze like many had, but Kite... Florabreeze might've taken a shine back. They hadn't talked recently, but the thought to clarify the two's budding relationship stuck in her mind. Maybe she'd ask Flora later.
"Would you like to... share this squirrel?"
The huntress' eyes follow Kite's movements with tired care. The rigidness and tail twitching... the molly knew those mannerisms all to well.
With a soft, friendly smile the molly nods. At Kite's next question the Sorrelsong can't help but feel... lighter somehow. Though the molly could not feel the love that passed between cats in whispers and promises, she had seen enough apprentices in the trawls of puppy-love to recognize the intent behind Kite's question. She was glad someone was looking to support Florabreeze in a way she could not - or, she realizes with an abrupt ear flick, she is jumping to conclusions again.
"I am." It's the only thing that tumbles out of her mouth before her wits are about her again. Finally, good news for her family. After all this hardship - wither Kite is a friend or searching to be something more, Sorrelsong finds herself hopeful that Florabreeze will have a good friend.
"Yes, here, lets eat over here - it's a bit nicer on the paws." She would move to pick up the squirrel, turn, but wait to lead the other cat to a small patch of shade near the nursery.
"Do you have anything specific you'd like to talk about?" She asks through the prey.

Kite's dim eyes appear to glimmer when Sorrelsong accepts the squirrel and indicates for them to follow by grabbing the squirrel. "Mm, thank you," Kite murmurs, following Sorrelsong to the patch of shade. They let the smoked molly guide them, sitting down after a quick glance over their shoulder to see that their was no one too close who could eavesdrop.

They blink slowly as Sorrelsong sits beside them and clears their throat, unsure of where to begin. Kite sighs, a thin sound that whistles from her maw. "Well..." Kite shifts their glance to Sorrelsong and squints- they could not help but feel a pang of jealousy when they think of their history with Florabreeze. The tabby feels envious that Sorrelsong has known Florabreeze for longer than they have, likely knows the Maine Coon better than they could in what short time Kite has stolen.

"I think... No, I know I feel something for Florabreeze that is stronger than what I'd feel for a friend..." Kite murmurs, adverting their gaze away from the smoked molly as they confess. "I've never... felt this before." Why is the tabby... exposing themself to Sorrelsong in such a way; exposing an insecurity of theirs to an individual Kite has not hardly spoken to? Their round head twists away from Sorrelsong as Kite continues, "I feel odd. I've never.... been in this situation before. I've not felt so..." An exasperated sigh escapes themself, a strangled sound which indicates the confusion they feel from experiencing such strong feelings, emotions that steal the air from their lungs. The fear of being vulnerable oozes from Kite, forcing their shoulders to sag and tail to curl around a foreleg protectively.

"Never mind that..." Kite clears their throat once more and attempts to straighten their posture. "Would you tell me about her a little more? What she was like when she first joined or anything! I just..." They attempt to rearrange their dark features into the semblance of a smile. "...I want to know her better."

SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡
Florabreeze's smile was enough to paint the world with color - Sorrelsong knew that very well. The smoked molly wasn't a stranger to the near-gravitational pull the Maine Coon had - in secret it had caused a lot of self exploration for the molly. A realization that Sorrelsong could not support and care for her friend the way Flora supported and care for her - an honor Kite wanted.
"I think... No, I know I feel something for Florabreeze that is stronger than what I'd feel for a friend..."
The huntresses eyes focus suddenly, studying the other as she bites into their shared prey in consideration.
Was Kite a good fit for Flora? She had seen the other cats interested in the molly - though Sorrelsong made sure to keep her distance. Each time a new suitor came, she had vowed to protect the Maine Coon. Not that Florabreeze needed that protection - she was more then capable, perhaps more capable then Sorrelsong, but she wanted to help her best friend regardless.
What did she know of Kite? Not much. Usually, the molly could parse some information from the name - herself being named for her easy-going, protective and patient nature - but Kite? All that came to mind was a bird. Free spirited then? A capable hunter? She had no idea - Sorrelsong's rogue named betrayed nothing of her personality. Perhaps Kite's doesn't either and she was grasping at straws.
Her mind shifts to clan actives. She knew Kite to participate in them - and while Sky Clan invited almost all cats, Orangestar or one of the other lead warriors would most likely have to determine them worthy. Blazestar had her, her brothers, and partially half the clan. He had not been wrong, there was little evidence to determine Orangestar was.
Kite was steady, capable and - currently- vulnerable she decides with a nod, chewing the prey. All good things for a friend, so perhaps good things for a mate? That part, she would let Flora decide.
"She's somethin' special. I was very shy when I joined - a kittypet too but my twolegs where- well I don't speak of them. Actually I didn't speak much back then. I was afraid of a lot. Hunting, eating, drinking. Didn't really talk to anyone but -" Duskpool She grunts, flicking her tail to dismiss the thought. "Flora was different. She was -is- so confident that it rubbed off on me - I hope I passed something to her, too." She laughed lightly, chest warm with memories.
"I was so new to mentoring that I made climbing up a tree a game." We still play it, sometimes She wanted to confess, but took another bite of squirrel. They had climbed, and jokes and watched stars. They still do - just without the undercurrent of feelings it used to have. Sorrelsong knew they were just feelings of friendship on her side - not so much on Flora's - but she had thought they were similar enough to think about the way Kite is now. Her tail flicks. She just had to make sure. She felt shattered when she felt something a bit more for Flora only to realize she couldn't return the feeling she didn't want Flora to feel crushed like that again. Currently not so soon after Honeysplash.
"I've felt a similar way," She decides to open the conversation with. "towards someone - something like love but... it wasn't and it hurt the other person. Are you sure it's love?" She blinks, taken aback by how blunt the question came out, but decided to let it stay. Flora's happiness was worth more then her reputation with a new cat - though hopefully Kite wouldn't see it as too blunt or rude.

"She is special," Kite agrees forthright, twisting and untwisting their tail uncertainly around a foreleg. Other than this blurt Kite listens with eager curiosity and nods rapidly when Sorrelsong shares how Florabreeze's confidence transferred to herself. It seems as though it is a common experience to be changed for the best by the Maine Coon. Thinking of this brings flush to Kite's ears- a phenomena that would have been concerning just a moon ago, but this too Florabreeze has changed. Kite is not embarrassed any longer by unfamiliar feelings or their lack of expressing them all together.

A soft chuckle arises from Kite at the notion of Florabreeze's first time in a tree and imagines Sorrelsong and her playing in one. The imaginings quickly subside, however. Kite's ears prick in alarm- 'I've felt a similar way.' "O-oh?" Clarification quickly comes though. "I see." Kite would like to ask further about this... heartbreak, but Sorrelsong's question merits several long moments of pause.

Sure, the question is blunt, but this does is not the reason for the scowl that passes over Kite's face- it is just... those are strong words. "I am sure." Kite proclaims, turning their face downwards from the scrutiny of Sorrelsong. The shadowy cat does not want her to see the emotion that wells in their olive hues after the confession falls from their maw. "The feelings... I have for Florabreeze is... it's so strong. What if... what if I ruin it all, I ask myself this... too often."

SORRELSONG

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Kite's scowl sour's Sorrel's confidence in her trust of the cat. She flicks an ear, her face a trained neutral. Kite's tail motions did not go unnoticed. Her maw parts, heart in her teeth. Had she offended the other? Had she over stepped? Did they have non-romatic plans for Florabreeze? Sure it was a wild leap in thought - but the past days had been hard on her heart and on her trust of others. She had lost one family member - she refused to lose Florabreeze.
"I am sure,"
Her tongue- already in motion- finds purpose as she smooth the fur on her front paw, listening. The fur between her shoulder blades remained tall, but she willed the rest of her pelt to calm. Then comes Kite's confession. A splash of warm water on her weary pads. It was refreshing how sure Kite was. Nudging the fear of Kite's ill-intentions away, Sorrelsong turns to study the other cat, only to have then turn away. Begrudgingly, she gives them privacy. Though the only way to really know the other's cat's intentions would be to ask, seeing their face would help alot. Not that Sorrelsong didn't trust Kite, just more that she didn't trust nothing bad would happen to Maine Coon.
"You are sure...." She repeats, considering Kite's words. The molly's worries were ones Sorrel had heard ricocheting around camp all the time, a worry she had privately reveled in never having to really worry about. "Mmm, a vaild fear.. but what if she feels the same?" She asks, tilting her head. She considers for a second before making a plan.
"I could ask Flora if she liked anyone - if you'd like." That way, neither of them would get hurt - and Sorrel could get Flora's opinion on the dark cat.
