[ this takes place the night before the battle for sunningrocks! <3 ]

Daffodilpaw makes the decision easily; she will not go to battle. While she doesn't think herself inept by any means, she finds that her time may be better spent in camp. Instead, the apprentice will spend her night beneath the stars, praying to all those above to keep her Clanmates safe as they go to regain what is rightfully theirs. And when the sun rises and her strong, healthy fellow ThunderClanners leave to do exactly that, she will remain silent in vigil in camp. She knows that more officially, she will be a part of the defensive team, ready to protect their home just in case RiverClan manages to overpower them. But in her heart, she hopes her prayers will be enough to keep from the worst happening.

"StarClan," she breathes out into the night air. She hopes that they hear her - she knows that only those blessed can converse with the stars, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't listening. "Please - guide my friends and family to victory. Provide them with strength and determination. We are indebted to you." Cloudy blue eyes tilt up towards the sky, most of which is obscured by bunches of green. She can pick out dots of stars, further off. They shine brightly to her. She says little more, leaving time and space for anyone to add to the prayer should they need to. She silently lists the names of her friends - Cloudypaw and Stormypaw - in hopes that StarClan will keep them out of harm's way.

Sky-blue eyes had seen everyone in a hurry all day, cats anxiously preparing for…what was it again? Shinekit hadn’t been paying full attention to the little he’d overheard. From the sounds of it, it seemed like some of the older cats were heading out to those warm rocks by the river. But if that was the case, why was everyone so worried? After all, as long as they knew how to swim they’d be fine. Seemed pretty relaxing, if you asked him.

The shaft of sunlight gingerly poked his head out of the nursery, eyes adjusting to the darkness before spotting a figure standing all alone. The small kit padded forwards, head cocked as he strained to hear the muttered words. Shinekit may not have fully known what was going on, but he had enough social sense to see that it was extremely important to this apprentice.

Stepping closer once the speech was completed, the bundle of flame would attempt to offer some words of his own. “We’re sure to win. Everything will work itself out right. But if you starclan cats could give us some help, we’d really appreciate it!” It wasn’t as formal as Daffodilpaw’s (and it sure wasn’t as quiet), but a satisfied smile crossed the kit’s face anyway. Turning eyes away from the sky and towards the apprentice, he spoke again with comforting simplicity. “Thunderclan’s the best, so we’ll be fine.”

Man, this was shaping up to be some swimming competition.

Berryheart could give no guidance as to whether StarClan had the power to truly influence the body, despite being able to give nine lives. He would imagine such a procedure took quite a lot of effort, given that they only offered it to ones blessed and chosen by previously star-touched cats. The healing of grievous wounds could not be easy- healing non-lethal ones was hard enough. And if Big Mama were to fall in this battle- a possibility he was beginning to have to steel himself to face- then their attention would likely be settled on her.

Still, the thought that they could... it seemed somewhat comforting to the Dreamer, whose breath whispered into the night and was only caught by Berryheart because the night was such a still one. It did not take very long for her to gain a companion- a bright voice beside her, but spoken to the sky as well. Cleaning up the entrance of his den, it was entertaining to watch them... and though it was hard to appraise the look upon his neutral features, especially with the slant of his crooked jaw, there was a softness in his soul as he watched them. He knew, at least, that the stars looked back down upon them.
