”WATCH OUT!” The abrupt warning is shrill, coming quickly after a fit of laughter.
A child of leaf-bare, the snow was freezing was all Larkkit ever knew- which made the young kit an excellent ice skater, at least when there was enough ice laying around camp.
Today, she had been lucky, carefully watching the weather. It had snowed the other day, but yesterday the sun had been shining, which meant that during the night, a sheet of ice or two was bound to happen.
To Larkkit’s joy, she has awoken to a perfect ice patch that had pooled along the perimeter of camp, giving her a perfect trail.
With no hesitation, she had pounced on the opportunity, now about halfway along, slipping and sliding her way down the walls length with her body crouched for optimal speed- that is until a warrior obliviously moved in her way, and she was about two seconds from running into them.
Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to be able to hear the warning Larkkit had so generously given them, and so the child was forced to drop to her belly, lazily sliding under the unsuspecting warrior with a squeal of delight, making a point to stick her tongue out at them while she’d slide away. The ice was painful on her underbelly, but the kit didn’t seem to mind as she rolled back to her paws, shakily pushing her weight off of her back leg to continue her sliding.
”Speech.”
