pafp BACKWRITTEN - but I gotta hold my legacy (PRACTICE)

Dated before his injuries! //
Wait for @Lakepaw.

"Lakepaw," he started, the warrior holding himself high as the soft wind blew through his pelt. It was a windy day, the scents drifting further off path- but it would be perfect for a practice run. And he was sure the other was ready. So near warrior hood... And he hoped he was guiding Lakepaws paws correctly. He hoped Sunstar, well, Sunnvar now, didn't disapprove of his choices in letting him finish the apprentices training.

And he hoped Scorchstar saw all the work and effort he was putting into the other. He'd never trained before, but he was adamant he was molding the other into a good moor-runner. Something he was confident of despite all of his insecurities. "You'll be doing a practice run of your assessment. I have a good feeling about you, I know you'll do great." He rumbled as pride dripped off of him.

"We'll be doing two parts. Your first test? You will sit here, and wait as I start to head off. Then you'll find me. And when you do, you'll show me your combat skills. I want you to find me before I find you. Use the wind to your advantage. And remember your tracking skills. Think you can do it?" milkthorn asks, a smirk of challenge followed by a glint of his eyes. He had thought long and hard about this, and had decided, it was perfect. Or well, he hoped it was.

And when Lakepaw agreed, he'd head off.

-

Milkthorn had always been quick. He'd roll through mud, and rub his pelt until his scent was left stagnant behind him- only a keen, well trained nose could follow him after that. And though, he was covered in the muck, it didn't bother him as much as hoping Lakepaw would find a challenge in this.

Not only was he practicing tracking, but focus. Patience. The muddy coated warrior would move through tall grasses, wilting and he'd press himself low. His jaws hung open, deep blue eyes flickering as he kept an eye over his shoulder, before back forward to continue to stalk foreward through the moors.

The sun hung high over him now, and he could only theorize that Lakepaw would be arriving soon.
