Introduction
This litter, accidentally borne out of complicated emotions from both parents, will eventually become part of a loving, albeit unusual, family. These kittens will be born and raised in WindClan to be loyal inhabitants of the moor, and despite their unexpected arrival, they will be fiercely loved by not one, not two, but three parents, in time.

  • Badgermoon, the easygoing-but-brutal deputy of WindClan, slowly began to realize that he was developing feelings for @curlewnose , the gentle, thoughtful tunneler. In fact, the two toms were falling in love with one another, silently: until, one night, Curlew decided to confess his feelings. Overwhelmed by Curlew's confession and frightened of his own feelings, Badger rejected the tunneler and fled. Heartbroken, Curlewnose retreated into the tunnels; meanwhile, wracked with guilt and still deeply in love, Badgermoon sought something, anything to distract himself and convince himself that his feelings for Curlew were nothing more than a passing crush.

    Enter Scorchstreak, lead warrior of WindClan and friend of Curlewnose, who doesn't believe that she needs a mate. She raised her first kit on her own, and he turned out just fine—that is, until he turned traitor, and Scorchstreak was forced to take him out. She tried not to grieve him, but she felt as though something was missing. Following the same path as her first pregnancy, Scorchstreak fell pregnant after one night of companionship. Her relationship with Badgermoon has become awkward, in a way, since the reveal of her pregnancy—but she is determined not to let it get in the way of her litter's kithoods. She sees her pregnancy as a second chance, a kind twist of fate that has allowed her to try again. These kits, unlike her first child, are born of WindClan and she's vowed to raise them to be the most loyal warriors they can be.

    With the kits' father remaining a mystery and anonymous gifts of prey and nesting material left by her nest in the nursery, it's a strange sort of pregnancy for Scorchstreak, as Badgermoon and Curlewnose's relationship remains tenuous and uncertain.
  • — These kits will be raised to be highly loyal to WindClan, and should remain there unless there is a compelling IC reason or plot that would cause them to leave.
    — Please remain at least semi-active with your kit! We absolutely understand that life happens, though, so if anything comes up, please message @Benji or @foxlore to let us know. We reserve the right to rehome any kit/kit's slot which goes inactive, though we won't do so without warning.
    — This is not FCFS! The choosing date is currently set for May 31st with the birthdate to follow shortly thereafter.
    — Despite their somewhat unconventional backstory and family, these kittens will have the love of three parental figures; please do keep that in mind.
    — Badgermoon will not reveal that he is the father of the kits until they're born, but he will claim them and raise them with Scorchstreak once they enter the world, so they will always know him as their father, if not their mother's mate. Later, Curlewnose will also come into the picture as a father figure, if they choose to accept him.

He looks his father's image– or he would, if it weren't for the way that his markings twist and snake around his pelt. The short, near-bristly black expanse of his pelt is marked by lightning streaks of white that break and split on their swirling paths. Like a creeping frost taking over the darkness. Perhaps that is where he had gotten his name. Or perhaps it's for his eyes. Though every kitten is born with soft blue, even in his youth Frostkit's eyes are remarkably sharp. Almost icy, even if they are soft.

Time will tell if he will grow into those prickly eyes, or what shape his fur might make of him. He is as changing as WindClan's namesake, though as insistent as the stars. Born neither the largest nor the smallest of his siblings, neither the most remarkable or the most plain, he is a creature of middling curiosity and questionable direction. That is all that he could ever want to be, at this age.

Frostkit is, in their totality, a pleasant enough kitten. Even from birth he seems agreeable. No trouble to Scorchstreak or to Vulturemask, no difficulty in getting him to eat, or sleep, or give his mother a moment's respite. It becomes a bit of a theme for him. He's no trouble– ever. Eager to be an apprentice yet not so eager as to annoy those older than them; attached to his father yet not so attached to inconvenience their clan's esteemed deputy. He loves his siblings but does not suffocate them, loves to explore but never sneaks around. Isn't he just the perfect little kitten? Isn't that sometimes such a terrible thing? Those same virtues quickly leave them as the overlooked eldest child, always seeking to make his parents' lives easier, to help his littermates along first.

Strangely enough, this thought never turns to regret. He doesn't take on too much as the responsible ones tend to do; he doesn't allow it to build to a bursting point. Never does Frostkit express any regret for who he has been, even as the contradicting parts of him grind and smooth themselves to cohesion. Eventually his agreeableness will begin to fade some, and they may even begin making decisions for themselves, even at the sake of others. Only time will tell.

──── loves both of his parents dearly, and will also love curlew when the time comes. though there's an immediate oddity to another cat entering the picture, once it's explained to them that their parents are still their parents, and curlew makes his dad happy, the transition will be remarkably smooth. he will often be found between underpaw for the majority of his kithood, or climbing on badgermoon's shoulders (mom is not as alluringly tall).
──── quietly curious about both of his parents, and may gently pry into their pasts to try and figure them out so to say. this is especially true for scorchstreak, who seems so quietly collected and sure of herself that they want so terribly to see where it comes from.
──── will be a veyr serious and studious apprentice who does not question his mentor or warriors in general. if someone asks them to jump, they will do so immediately and to the best of their ability, not even pausing to ask how high since that would go with the assumption that he should do anything other than his best for them. they are calm and steadfast, and desperate to please without it leading to a high-strung or anxious attitude.​

shorthaired red/cream tabby chimera with high white [amab]
─ a scruffy looking kitten, celerykit has stiff, stick like limbs with much to large paws that give hint to just how big they may grow as an adult. their pelt is a strange mishmash of orange and cream, like a tortoishell that had simply come out the wrong color. with a body mainly pale cram with a broken mackerel tabby pattern of light orange markings interrupted by patches of this same color overlayed with an even darker shade of pattern. white splashes and splatters across every part of their body, be it in cow-like blotches along their flanks or more scattered freckle-like spots upon their face, not a single bit of them is left untouched. a strange tuft of fur sticks out upon the top of their head, between two oddly short ears, and they have sharp and narrow green eyes.

✦ cocky, brash, feisty, feirce: with seemingly limitless capacity for trouble, celerykit is most aptly described as a brat. they truly seem to think they can do anything they put their mind to - be it feats only a full grown warrior could accomplish, or even the impossible. they seem to always have an ever present smirk upon their face, daring and dangerous, and it truly speaks volumes of their personality that it never seems out of place. mischievous and chaotic, they always seem to be full of questions and ideas, though many are perhaps better left inside the confines of their little head. bold and brash, it is not uncommon to find them doing something simply because someone else has dared or challenged them to, even if it may be dangerous or stupid.
─ though a trouble maker, celerykit is not the most energetic of felines. they seem to take life at their own pace, talking and walking at a slow and steady speed. it is not uncommon to find them napping the day away after getting worn out.
─ celerykit is very gullible, and seems to believe some very very strange things. it's not all that uncommon to find them spouting off some nonsense they heard once, or find them doing something dangerous just because it never crosses their mind they might get hurt. they truly seem to lack common sense - perhaps it's an orange cat kind of thing.
─ celerykit seems to have no sense of volume, as every word out of their little mouth is spoken in a shout. they are, bluntly speaking, loud. ​

— nonbinary, they/them. decides they want nothing to do with gender very early on, I'll refer to them with neutral pronouns immediately. is this so i don't have to decide on an agab? maybe.

— sh black point w/ piercing blue eyes, low white (lh, dilute).
– weird, height-wise. this young windclanner shows promise in height as a young kitten, disqualifying them from tunnelling, but stops abruptly at about six moons of age. very likely the shortest in the litter, despite not being the runt.

— the vibes: momma's kid. generally upbeat. big believer in making scorchstreak proud. mildly self-depreciating, especially at the butt of making others feel uplifted; kicks into overdrive after an offhanded comment from one of their parents about how big they seemed they were going to be when they were young. loves the wind in their fur, but scared of the night sky, and doing any wrong beneath it. believes stars to be the eyes of starclan always watching them. paranoid.

— will be a little suspicious of curlew depending on the age that he and badger get close again (being anytime before a year old), because of a childish "stealing my father away" train of logic.
— I think they'll have opinions on the way they suddenly stop growing and would fit in as a tunneller but are already two moons into warrior training. this leads into their self-esteem issues and general nervous vibe.
— I want to develop their paranoia / borderline agoraphobia ic, maybe witnesses starclan's next potshot at sootstar and freaks the hell out about it.

HORIZONKIT!
Scorchstreak x Badgermoon ✦ TBD Moons ✦ WindClan Kit ✦ AFAB, She/Her

APPEARANCE: A shorthaired tortoiseshell she-cat with low white.

Of a small, lithe stature fit for tunneling, Horizonkit's name is apt for her appearance. Fiery markings swirl along dark fur, reminiscent of a sunset's gleam along the moor's horizon line.

Though not exact to her father's own markings, white adorns her in a similar style - most notable along her ears, but remains patchy along her face and chest, similar to her mother's white markings. White also sits upon her paws. A bright ambered gaze settles among her patchworked face, a dark nose in between.

PERSONALITY: Horizonkit is a bright child with a fire inside her that only further matches her appearance. An energetic child, she holds an enthusiasm for the moors around her and the clan she was born into, finding it special that she is the child of both the deputy and a lead warrior. Such a specialty makes Horizonkit strive to make her mother and father - and eventually Curlewnose, too - proud, especially in her apprenticeship - a self-imposed pressure that eventually puts weight on her shoulders, as she's often hard on herself in her failures.

Devoted to WindClan's moors and the web of tunnels below it, Horizonkit tends to follow the rules, but when it comes to her siblings creating trouble, she will follow them into it (though will remind them of how much trouble they will be in.) If it were to be anyone else creating trouble, however, the child can be quite the tattle-tale - a habit that she may or may not grow out of, eventually.

SH dilute tortoiseshell with white spotting Not the smallest of the litter and certainly not the largest, Luckykit finds himself somewhere between. Sporting a willowy, almost frail frame, Luckykit was always destined to follow in his mother's pawsteps as a tunneler. Well-groomed, close-cropped blue and cream fur is splashed with white, particularly along the lower half of his face, his throat and underbelly, and his paws. A smattering of white can also be found on his tail tip, on one ear, and along his flank, completing his speckled appearance. A soft, forest-green in color, Luckykit's eyes are owlish in nature, and are often held wide in order to take in his surroundings, giving him a somewhat startled appearance.

— While Luckykit has a lot of pride in his Clan, he also holds a deep love for his family, and these two values will eventually feel at odds to him - both are true, but one must come before the other in his eyes; Luckykit will struggle to decide which is more important to him, which may result in him either spending extra time training and distancing himself from his family or making excuses to spend more time with those he loves, depending on the IC environment/development
— As he progresses through his apprenticeship, Luckypaw will feel as though he is falling behind his siblings and will act more reckless than usual, especially when faced with his own perceived shortcomings; after some teasing from a fellow clanmate (whether in jest or meant as a barb) Luckypaw will push himself too hard in a bad situation, resulting in either himself or someone else getting injured/hurt (potentially an accident in the tunnels due to carelessness or a fight against a predator he is ill-equipped for)
— Will probably be a bit uncertain of Curlewnose at first, especially if Luckykit notices that he and Badgermoon are spending more time with one another; may feel a bit betrayed at the idea of Badgermoon seemingly choosing someone else over him and the rest of his family, and will likely try to confront Badgermoon over it, but once the situation is explained he'll still be a bit stilted but will eventually accept Curlewnose into his family

SCORCHKIT: cis girl (she / her); named for her mother, whom she greatly resembles – brief description. a reserved girl dedicated to her clan and her family. values loyalty over everything, but her stoic nature and propensity for work doesn't mean she's cold. scorchkit can be as warm as the fire she's named after-- and she can burn just as easily.

─ scorchkit loves her family- that much is obvious. she serves her parents as best as she can, always striving to meet their expectations, however mounting. she generally has an eldest sibling air about her that drives her to protect and dote on her siblings when they allow it. with friends, she is a little less obvious with her care, but this doesn't mean she's disinterested-- quite the opposite. scorchkit loves company (albeit the quiet sort). get on scorchkit's bad side, though, and know the heat of anger that both she and her mother seem to be named for.

✦ (+) dedicated, obedient, loyal, compassionate (/) reflective, honest, orderly (-) brutal, neurotic, complacent, ambitious an even mix of her parents' traits, scorchkit has inherited both the best of the best and the worst of the worst of badgermoon and scorchstreak.
─ self-serious and dedicated to her work, even as a kitten scorchkit is more often seen restlessly patrolling the borders of windclan's camp than playing with her fellow brood. this doesn't mean she's incapable of having fun, but she may need to be nudged into it, as she is otherwise content to work herself to the bone (as much as a kitten can, anyway)
─ raised to be among windclan's loyalest members, scorchkit harbors an immense pride for her clan, her parents, and for the warriors that help raise her. she will follow her clanmates to the ends of the earth and would easily sacrifice herself for her clan, as it is what she has been raised to do. this also means that she is indifferent to or even supportive of windclan's crimes against other clans, or even against its own members, as long as she is given reason to believe that her clan is in the right.
─ though she is often quiet or generally unassuming, scorchkit harbors a deep passion for her fellow clanmates. she may try to aid them when they struggle in her own perhaps unconventional ways. she may lack many friends, as she is not traditionally outgoing, but her efforts to support her clanmates will hopefully earn her some good rapport.
─ as long as she receives praise from her mother and fathers she will be fine, but scorchkit's confidence hinges deeply on her ability to make them proud. she can be insecure in her relationships when she is not receiving a steady stream of positive attention.
─ brutal on the battlefield. may also be brutal if she is pushed to a deep, fiery anger. though her temper is not as quick as her mother's, it can burn just as brightly.

✦ i would eventually like her to find out about dappledsun's fate (assuming scorchstreak wouldn't tell them outright, but if she would then all the better) and, though i imagine scorchkit would feel secure with her family and loved by them, this news of filicide in the name of loyalty would drive scorch jr all the more to be in her parents' good graces.
✦ far too large to be a tunneler, though she will be sad about this. she is content to follow in her father's pawsteps as a moor-runner but always harbored secret hopes that she might be a tunneler due to their elevated status in windclan's ranks.
✦ i think she will be wary of curlewnose but generally accepting of him as long as there is no reason for her to reject him icly! i could see her being one of the first of the litter to accept him as a father figure.
✦ i would like for her to be a very devout starclan believer!

✦ SH tortoiseshell with low white and heterochromatic amber-yellow eyes. reference. scorchkit takes her size from her father; though still smaller than most clan cats, the child will grow to be one of windclan's biggest warriors. broad-shouldered and nimble like badgermoon. however, in most other respects, she is scorchstreak's mini-me, thus earning her her generational name. her flaming tortoiseshell patterning travels in thick streaks over a more classic tuxedo-patterned white spotting (including badgermoon's notable white ear-tips). her fur is short and course like her mother's.

It's such a good problem to have, but you all have made this SUCH a difficult choice...so difficult, actually, that we've decided to pick an extra kit in lieu of me taking one from the litter. Thank you all so much for your interest, and please know that everyone's application was totally delightful <3
