YOU KEEP THE SUNSHINE,
SAVE ME THE RAIN

He was pretty sure it was safe to say that Junco was pissed at him. His brother hadn't been all that keen on running away to the forest, and Soma supposed this was his siblings way of punishing him. The younger tom had refused to leave camp since they'd arrived, hiding himself away in the apprentices den with all the antisocial animosity they could muster. Normally Soma would try and reign in his siblings attitude, but quite frankly they both needed some time to unpack everything that had happened.

It had been an executive decision on Somas part for them to leave the shelter. They'd been caught up in the system for months being bounced from home to home, and the large black and white tomcat knew that sooner or later they'd be separated. It was easier to place a smaller, younger cat like Junco in a home, where as Soma? He was getting older, practically an adult now, and he couldn't risk being seperated from the other cat. He'd already lost one sibling, he sure as hell wasn't about to lose another.

With the shelter no longer an option for them, Soma had been forced to consider other options. They could always return to the streets of twoleg place, a life that he was familiar with but that was far from ideal. Junco was a difficult cat to keep out of trouble and Soma had a feeling he'd be ending more fights with his claws than his words if he ended up letting his brother run around twoleg place freely, because he sure as hell wouldn't tolerate anyone trying to harm the other.

Thus, Skyclan had been the obvious choice. A place where the cats looked after each other, a place where Junco would be kept safe and looked after if anything ever happened to Soma. It was the ideal situation even if the other hated him for it.

Today though, a break was in order. The tuxedo tomcat had spent his days being schooled in classes on culture and hunting and borders, and quite fucking frankly he needed a break from it. Which was how he'd ended up slipping out of camp into the pine forest beyond. He was hardly familiar with the place, having never stepped foot in a forest before joining up with the clan, but it didn't seem to deter him at all. He did take special care to stay out in the open though, not wanting to find himself in the grasp of another trap.

OOC- ignore the fact that i recycled his intro!!!

IT WAS DAYS LIKE THESE THAT YUHWA MISSED THE COMFORTS OF HOME even if it’d been a life looking over one’s shoulders and struggling day to day to find food. Okay. It wasn’t home, but the cats he had surrounded himself with.

He chuckled to himself, tilting his helm to stare at the canopy of trees that loomed over his small stature. It had taken him some time to get used to it once they’d set up came some time ago. He liked it. Of course, it was close to the twolegs, but they didn’t have much contact with them which Yuhwa was beyond grateful for.

Yuhwa sighed, darkened lips curled at the memories of his clowder. He had felt full then. He doubted he’d ever fill that empty part of himself after watching them be harshly ripped from him. Not all of them. Yuhwa reminded himself, crooning. He was thankful for those that remained, but his heart ached within his chest at those they’d lost. It hurt. It hurt more than Yuhwa was willing to admit, but he had ( tried to ) remain strong for those left. It was hard, but the chimera managed.

“Oh, silly me.” He laughed, glancing at a butterfly that fluttered past. He never had been one to dwell on the past. He never liked to dwell on it. Always so depressing. Which? He supposed that said a lot about his past.

Ah. He glanced around, realizing he’d gone deeper than he intended. Well. He spun around, intending to go back before one of the clan cats caught sight, only to pause, catching sight of someone. Oh. Make himself known? He winced, knowing Keane would give him an earful the second he got back. Better late, than never. He supposed with a huff of laughter. “Well—Hello!” He chirped. No doubt should be hightailing it out of here. He thought, brows furrowed.

Talk and flee! He snickered, knowing well enough he’d done it in the past. “Oh! You look new! I haven’t seen you before.” He mused. “Although I don’t normally cross this deep into Sky’s territory. Which—” He winced. “Sorry about that?” He offered, grinning sheepishly.

One way to die early. He thought with an inaudible huff of laughter.
