જ➶ tw: self depreciating thoughts

It's been days since her injury. It feels like moons to her. Just laying there, unmoving, not thinking. Watching as day falls into night and seeing the sun rise again. Over and over with nothing but the pain that keeps piercing her skull. Often she is given something for it but she finds it makes her sleep fitfully if she even sleeps at all. Her eye is covered, her head looking like some strange cobweb thing. Slowly her ivory dipped paws shift, her body moving to roll onto her paws. She wants to get some fresh air. Something, anything. To not smell the scent of herbs anymore. Yet she knows that this small meager freedom will not last and she will have to return. Damaged. She will be lucky to even have the chance to become a warrior now. Most likely be reduced to becoming an Elder. What respect has she earned to even become one? None. Might as well have to look after herself now.

Dread fills her as she slowly emerges into the daylight. She cranes her head away from it. Darkness coating her left side. All the sounds sound the same but she has to move her head all the way around to get a good look at anything. A small tear trails down her one amber orb as she sits down, breathing hard and watching everyone else go about their daily duties. That should be her. Yet it's not. Sitting down she focuses her gaze on her paws.

[ ༻ ☼ ༺ ] Fadingkit didn't know the pain Dustpaw was going through or her emotions that left her looking so gloomy. To her it was just another clanmate looking gloomy and needed some cheering up. So, the flame point kitten made her way over to Dustpaw, waving a tiny paw over the she-cat's ivory ones, noting how much her fur burst in comparison to the white of the apprentices. Blue eyes fixated slightly on this before looking up at the other.

"Why do you seem so sad? The sun is out to play and... the birds are singing" she spoke in gentle tones of curiosity; almost in hushed tone as if what she was saying could be considerable bad. Perhaps a habit she picked up from since her own momma would always snap at Fadingkit whenever she asked her silly questions. "Why do you have leaves on you? Are you trying to make yourself more pretty? Because you're fine as you are" not getting a grasp of the situation, and only wanting to see a smile peer on the older molly's lips.

Adderpaw had heard about the spar gone wrong: Fallowpaw had "accidentally" sliced unsheathed claws through Dustpaw's eye — the idea that it had been nothing but a little mistake made the apprentice snort just a bit, bubbling up and emitting itself out of his throat. He supposed that perhaps the former had just been reckless, moving without caution and lashing out with blind anger strangling her limbs. Yet where had that anger come from? Was it targeted towards Dustpaw — where now a sharp inhale of what could only be some type of a hidden gasp would take place from Adderpaw — a form of revenge?

It was something he pondered on the occasion, always intrigued by the act of vindication in order to create his own stories in his mind. It's why he found himself often observing the moping of those who drag themselves across camp with low shoulders, in an obvious state of mnemonically. It distracted him from his own thoughts, and always reminded him that others do have it worse than he does. Sure, having absent alive parents is a trial and often makes him cry himself to sleep every night when he thinks no one is listening, but was he the one with a missing eye? Adderpaw knew that he had to be grateful for what he had, despite any feelings he may have towards anyone with his false connotations of them.

Yellow hues lingered on Fadingkit and Dustpaw from his comfortable spot in the sun, head lifted slightly as he lay on his side with a sigh of contentment. He had been lounging near the medicine den, originally on the lookout for a beetle that had begun to intrigue him with its color-changing green body. Why did it turn into a rainbow in the sunlight? He now had begun to think that maybe the momentary disappearance of the sun did something to it, pawing gently at the insect as it scrambled to get out of his reach with wings buzzing as a warning. Carrying a look of slight surprise at the reaction from the creature, he decided to leave it be and got to his paws with a wide yawn, eyes blinking against harsh sunlight.

Resting his eyes back on the two near the medicine den, Adderpaw padded over with a lash of his tail and a roll of his shoulders, attempting to ease the tension in the limb he had been putting all of his weight on. What were those two up to, anyway? Not like he had much else to distract himself with, and despite his constant battle with socialization, it seemed to be getting slightly better. Overhearing Fadingkit's comment, the tomcat ignored the compliment, intent on not pushing himself into a corner with his talking points. Commenting on such a matter would probably set him into some type of panic — so it was easier to answer the kit's question with a monotone, matter-of-fact tone. "Fallowpaw scratched her eye out," his voice carried a bit of cockiness, proud of himself for knowing this information despite the wilding hurt the apprentice must be feeling. At least he was getting the idea of socialization down... now he just needed to watch his words.

'CAUSE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE BANK — Thankfully for Dustpaw, she wouldn't be losing an eye from the injury and it's something that he's familiar with considering that Fallowpaw's littermates had been clawed by Baying Hound. The memory alone is enough to make his blood boil especially when he remembers how shaky both Antlerpaw and Doepaw had been under his care but he's glad that they've gotten out of their shell enough to trust him and those that they lived with. And from what he's seen with Doe, she didn't seem to see that well like everyone else but she's getting by and still recieving her training from Wolfwind, who ironically, had lost an eye. Howlingstar definitely knew how to make good pairs when it came to the right mentors and apprentices, Gentlestorm had been organizing his nest removing the dead clumps of moss from it and glanced up realizing that Dustpaw wasn't in her nest.

The pale tom steps out from his den to hear the chattering between the two cats that were near his den and focused his gaze on Adderpaw as he tells Fadingkit rather bluntly what had happened to the injured molly. "It was an accident." He says calmly to the trio but its mostly directed to the apprentice and kit before adding on with a nod of his helm, "And her eye is still there, it wasn't scratched out..." He remembers the angry gash across Dustpaw's eyes and how it had bled into her eye before he cleaned the injury and treated it, her eye remained intact though he doubts that she'll be able to see through it again. "How are you feeling, Dustpaw?"
