What had he done wrong? Why did Smogstar not see him as worthy as the deputy's apprentice? Or as his apprentice? Maybe Mirepurr actually wasn't a very good mentor, maybe... Maybe Snowlark could tell him. Wasn't he Mirepurr's apprentice? Yeah, he was! With a nod to himself, he stood to find the white warrior. Stonepaw's icy eyes scanned camp, landing upon the new warrior rather quickly. He marched over, head high.

He'd have to be careful about how he went about this, he didn't want to come across as weird. He would simply... be curious for his sister? Yeah, that's good. "What's Mirepurr like, y'know, as a mentor?" he asked. "Do they lean to be more of a... I don't know... fighter, tracker, or hunter?"

[ ༻❄༺ ] Snowlark hadn't expected his former mentor to get in a position of power when he was first reassigned to Mirepurr the other was just a warrior, and then the next meeting Chilledstar had deemed them worthy to be on their council. Then soon as he was made warrior by Smogstar, the newly made warrior had appointed Mirepurr to be his right-paw cat, something Snowlark was happy about for the newly made deputy. What he also did not expect to happen was curious newly made apprentices or kits to ask him about how Mirepurr was as a mentor.

He had just settled down for the day after a few patrols when Stonepaw approached with some interesting questions that made Snowlark blink a bit and stare at Stonepaw for a brief moment. "They focus more on combat skills and teaching respect. But Mirepurr also focuses on what you're good at and is a very patient mentor. Plumpaw will do well underneath Mirepurr's wings. Why do you ask?" he hummed curiously before aiming to ruffle Stonepaw's fur slightly an amused twinge in his yellow eyes. "You could of ask Mirepurr, I'm sure they would of love to answer any questions you have" he expressed to the other.

Stonepaw had seemed fired up - in his own, stoic way - about becoming an apprentice. Gigglepaw had noticed from the moment he'd bumped into her when they were first moving into the apprentices' den, and seeing as they were peers, he seemed to be popping up everywhere she happened to be.

"What're you wonderin' about Mirepurr's training for? You're not their apprentice." She doesn't mean it cruelly in any way, just pure curiosity; perhaps Stonepaw was looking out for his sister, who did have the deputy as her mentor. She doesn't have the same fire in her that Stonepaw does when it comes to apprenticeship - she isn't out to climb the ranks by having the best mentors. She wouldn't have minded Smogstar as her own mentor, but for reasons different from Stonepaw.

An orange eye was kept upon Stonepaw as her younger sister went to speak to him, his slight against her forgiven, but not quite forgotten. She wouldn't be in the apprentice's den forever, the last thing she wanted was some hotshot thinking they could push around her kin, but... things were calm for now, and so, the volatile tabby remained equally tempered. Pride flashed upon her muzzle as she realised the conversation was about mentors - her own mentor was nothing to scoff at, being the leader of the clan and everything. It'd never been something she'd been too arrogant about, still, mention of the new Deputy seemed to put it into perspective just how prestigious her training provider was.

"Ooooh, do I spy a bit of jealousy?" She teased, free from malice and full of mirth. It was as if such an actuality wasn't a possibility in her head, she doubted anyone would care who mentored who when it came to big things like promotions, anyhow. "I'm just messing. Being nosy's alright, helps you learn. Like... I've learned if I stick my paw on a thorn, it'll hurt. Wouldn't have known otherwise." Perhaps she could've listened to the dozens of cats telling her the same... oh well. Bloodpaw rolled her shoulders, smiling easily. "If you're interested, I can even tell you what Smogstar's like as a mentor."

The various voices coming to chime in put his ears on a swivel. "Well, gotta make sure my siblings have good mentors, right?" he mewed, his maw quirking up into a smirk. Gigglepaw just had to push her way into the conversation. Typical. Her questioning made his eyes narrow, only slightly. Before he could bite any type of answer back, Bloodpaw interrupted and piqued his interest. "That'd be awesome, tell me!"

An excited look gleamed in Bloodpaw's eyes as Stonepaw took interest in what she had to say, the slightest hint of pride causing her chest to puff out. But, then it came to describing how Smogstar was as a mentor, and the tabby's mind grew blank. She stared down at Stonepaw for a good few seconds, doing her best not to 'um' and 'ah' before deciding on an answer for the lilac apprentice. "So he's proper mysterious, you don't really know what you're doing with him until after the lesson's over. It's helpful, but you gotta think lots about the why." It had been an adjustment for the she-cat who had been so used to reckless behaviour in the Nursery. Even now, that edge of hers had not been smoothed out, though, Smogstar's influence had made it less volatile.

Well, somewhat less volatile. She'd never known a wildcat to put out a flame, only tamper its growth a little bit before it snuffed itself out. "Other than that though, he teaches you a lot about fighting and defending ShadowClan. We're both big cats, so his methods work for me too. Little cats ain't so fast if you aim for their legs, and with his training, I'd probably knock any WindClanner clean off their paws if they tried us!" Bold words for a cat who had not seen real battle, but she trusted herself - that felt more important to her than experience, no matter how damned she'd been by it in the past.
