" I'm sorry Fiery!, but i wont be coming today either...I promise i will come with you tomorrow though, kay?" Jackdawpaw said with that apologic smile that always made it impossible for Fierypaw to say no to them...in fact he was not even in the mood for it today. Cloudwing was not getting better. Apperantly she had got a fever which refused to go down. Fierypaw had told Jackdawpaw about this just the night before. He was the only one he could speak to about it...the only friend he really had and...he needed them right now, beside him and not them running of...somewhere else. But what could he do?. Fierypaw was weak when it come to getting angry at them...to lose the only friend he had so always brushed it of. This time too all he did was give a nod of his head and watched them run away with a forced smile which died off the moment they had turned their back on them. It hurt on the inside. He felt like his world was about to crush down on him and there was no soul he could replay on, to seek comfort on. This was the first time he truly felt alone.
Fierypaw was returning back to camp alone again, having a couple of times now had to make up stupid excuses to why Jackdawpaw not was with him. ' the two legs refused to let him go outside today.' ' the twolegs took him away somewhere else for today' 'he was not feeling well today....' his excuses just got worse and worse, and Jackdawpaw's mentor grow more and more impatient and looked almost embarassed that his apprentice was slacking so much. It was just a matter of time before he couldn't find excuses anymore, yet, still, he defended them wanting to think his friend actually had something importand to do and not was....using him. That would totally destroy him.
It had taken longer for him to arrive to camp that day having taking extra long time to get here because in truth he didn't felt in the mood to be here. Every single day he returned it was the same. Cloudwing never got better only worse and he had not even been able to get himself to visit them not even once. Fierypaw just couldn't bring himself to get in there feeling too much guilty because of the last thing he had said to her. It was true. He had been frustrated at her for caring more to stand in the center with her friends than to actually give some quality time with him, just a mentor and their apprentice. His training had been slacking and he had been so frustrated and angry that day so he had told her that she didn't care about him, that she only cared about her own self-image. That she was shallow and he wished he never had got her as his mentor.
The raid had happend the day after and now she was dying. It was all his fault. So he couldn't face her out of shame, out of guilt.
When he arrived into camp instantly noticed his clanmates who had surrended themselves around in a circle. What...was going on?. Fierypaw had a bad feeling in his guts as he approached closer to press himself through his clanmates so he could see what was going on...and... he froze when he saw the blue seal point laying there on the ground, unmoving, lifeless. He stared at the recognizable body. It was Cloudwing and the cats who were circled around her were mourning their fallen warrior in silence, some even crying. Cloudwing had been a likable face in the clan after all. Shook. This took him with shook even though he knew this day would come but...but..he had not even gotten a chance to make amends with her yet to apologize.
More than ever before he wished that Jackdawpaw was here...
