camp BLESS MY SOUL // return from moonstone

He was finally back. What a tiresome travel this had been in more than one way glad to be back home again. For some couple of days it had just been him and Sootstar which had been rather awkward after recent events that had happened in the clan. She is planning to kill me. Dandelionwish's voice had just not been able to get out of his head. Halfway to the moonstone he had keept this on his mind while carefully keeping his eyes on his own leader who he had started to question his trust too if following her was the right choice after all. However, after reaching halfway there something inside of him had started to slowly change. The two had shared small talk at best, from talking about her unborn kits which soon would arrive in this world to talk about starclan and what to expect. Just small talking to help pass the time and....Vulturemask had got to see a different side of Sootstar which honestly was not all that bad. It had made a shift in his heart, with his doubts.

Now on their travel back after his ceremony which as well had been a life-changing experience after meeting Hare Whisker Vulturemask had finally come to an conclusion.

Acceptance. That was all he really could do. To accept what had happened and just move on. Dandelionwish had made his choice and Vulturemask now had to make his own. He couldn't forget that if this had been about anybody else he wouldn't have cared what Sootstar decided to do. He would have stood behind it. - It was all because of his personal ties with the sepia tom which was putting him in such an emotional dilemma to begin with. It was his bond to them which was the problem here and not Sootstar herself, and he needed to cut them off and just forget all about his now former friend and think of them as dead. Cut ties with the tom who would just keep him back. That was how he was gonna survive through all of this. It had to be this way.

So he had returned back with a more clear head, and now a blessed soul from their ancestors. Finally his true reign as windclans medicine cat could begin.

// this takes place before soot gave birth and some couple of days after dandy's escape thread!

( ) Sunflowerkit doesn't like it when Vulturemask is gone. They don't like it when anyone they care about is gone, but they don't really have to worry about their siblings since they can't leave camp. Vulturemask, on the other hand, has been so constantly busy that they rarely see him, and then he ventures off to the Moonstone (what even is that) to talk to StarClan (???) so he can become a medicine cat? He already is a medicine cat!

It's scary! Especially with Dandelionwish having just left; they didn't know the tom well, but Vulturemask clearly cared about him, and his sudden imprisonment and escape put the kit on edge. Would that happen to Vulturemask, if Sootstar decided he wasn't good enough? What if StarClan said no? Could they do that? They don't like him being alone with the leader, with no one to watch over him.

Good thing he's back now, then.

Sunflowerkit barrels towards their half-brother, heedless of anyone else around. They're just barely big enough now to half-bury their face against his flank, pressing the top of their head into the long fur. They nuzzle against his chest, tail flicking with agitation, but making no motions to move. They're glad he's back, yes, but still upset that he'd been gone.

// assuming this isn't pafp bc it's not tagged as such, lmk if i'm wrong & i can take it down + repost o7

Bluepool does understand the bad rap her sister gets. Her ways may seem rough, but what she does she does out of a place of wanting to keep them safe, keep them in order. It was for their own benefit. Being soft was no way to live this life, one day all the kittypets and kittypet lovers would see that and they would all retreat to their dens back where they belonged. They would see that they had been wrong about WindClan all along and that their way was best.

She watches passively as their healer returns to the camp. Vulturemask was not a cat she knew much about. He was quiet and kept mostly to himself if she remembers correctly but the stars approved of him and that made him alright in her eyes. Still, she does not run to greet him as some of her other clanmates do. Instead, she is content to simply watch as he is greeted by a kit, a bit too overenthusiastically if you ask her. If they were another clan going to the moonstone would be quite the journey but they were WindClan, the closest to their starry ancestors and in her mind, guardians of the moonstone. Their journey was not as arduous or as long. She rolls her eyes but she does not turn away, though she wants to. "Welcome back" she says from her place by the gorse bush that makes up the walls of the nursery, not deigning to bring herself any closer lest she catch whatever it was his most recent patient had. It worked like that right?

The days are getting warmer, but the mornings are still filled with mist and frost. The afternoons were pleasant, and the evenings gentle. New-leaf was upon the near horizon. Tigerfrost lifts his head as he hears a rustling near the camp entrance, and the dark fur that noses it's way into the clearing is recognizable enough. The chimera peers upon Vulturemask curiously for a moment, then he rises to his three uninjured paws and makes his way to the fresh-kill pile. One of the recent patrols had hauled back a rabbit, and Tigerfrost hadn't touched it. After all, did he deserve to eat if he was too wounded to hunt? He provided nothing to his clan like this, nothing but grumpy expressions and ill tempered words.

Teeth sink into the rabbit's fur as Tigerfrost plucks it up by it's neck, limping over to Vulturemask with his head angled upward at an awkward angle. The rabbit was nearly the size that he was, after all. When he reaches the medicine cat, he drops the rabbit at Vulturemask's paws, gazing at them expectantly with fiery eyes. It was a welcome back, of sorts. No doubt the medicine cat must have been starving after that journey.

There, upon the horizon- a tall shadow, spidery limbs carrying him into the camp. Wide eyes, argent as the moon, stared for a few silent moments upon the medicine cat. Presumably, one newly accepted into a role connected to the stars by spirited thread. A few owlish blinks and he was soon upon his inky paws, trotting over with joyful fervency, impossibly upright and well-balanced. Grin dressed upon his features, an ever-present veil, he beamed at the medicine cat. Replacement as he was... if there was one shadow to staunch the weeping wound left by Dandelionwish's excavation, he was glad it was Vulturemask. Someone close to his sister- someone she trusted, and thus was trusted too by him.

They'd all go mad eventually... but this one? He'd be sad to see him consumed.

"Hi, hi," he sang, dissonant melody weaving from his maw and fringed with the buzz of a fur, with the mewling backing-track of laughter. "Are you magic now, then?" He knew, he knew, of course... medics were not magic. Vulturemask did not shine like Dawnglare did, but there must be some sort of whisper in his paws, even if it was a pale comparison.

There was a pattern when it came to the Medicine cats of Windclan; she hoped Vulturemask would be the exception. They needed someone reliable someone who wouldn't plant the seeds of treachery rather then aiding their clanmates; they just needed him to do his job and to be loyal. Firepaw doesn't have the most confidence in him, she wonders if anybody did he was thrown into the position so quick and had only a scarce few moons to learn the tools of the trade from a tom who was a prisoner in his former home. She doubts his foxhearted mentor had taught him everything, but despite everything he'd been accepted by Starclan and had brought a a prophecy to the clans ears. She cannot contest to the significance of Starclans faith. He was their medicine cat now, and he'd returned from his trip to the moonstone, he'd had seen it in all it's glory something she had yet to do even if she'd been oh so close to it's overwhelming power. She hadn't even gotten a glimpse, the energy there still was enough to make her paws shake it was a place like no other and she cannot imagine what it was like to lay before it and commune with Starclan. She wonders if they told him anything else.

She watches with curious eyes as he returns to the camp worn out form the trip, when she'd gone to collect stones she'd not wanted to do much but rest the exhaustion off she doubts he had that choice. Dandelionwish left him with so much to take care of, had left so many of their clanmates baring wounds from his and those who followed dirty claws. For now however he's allowed a respite allowed the pleasant words from clanmates who ran after the throat of his predecessor along with warm greeting of their kin. She too would join her voice with Bluepool's, she pads her way over and for the first time towards him she dips her head respectfully. He'd earned it, had remained loyal and been accepted. ❝Yeah, Welcome back❞ she would mraow simply.
