Cheddar was beginning to get a little more ambitious as they spent more time within SkyClan. The days of the helter long since behind them, the open breeze greeting their fur every morning, it was a beautiful thing they never experienced before. At least, not to these lengths. Twoleg Place was much more busy than the pine forest was. It was easy to get lost between the alleyways and scared off by the sounds and smells that overwhelmed. The pine forest felt more... friendly! At least when she traversed through the grounds.

Cheddar was on a loosely fitted patrol this time, shadowing some of the SkyClan folk that offered to show the newcomers their ways until it was safe to try and return to their owners. Along the way Cheddar had gotten... distracted. Catching sight of a creature they had never seen before- a grasshopper! They couldn't help it, their curiosity pushed them on to follow the insect. Occasionally she attempted to pounce at it, but she was horribly unbalanced and couldn't land a single swipe. Always leaping away from her at the last moment.

Unknowingly her antics had brought her a ways away from the patrol and a good few foxes length into ThunderClan's territory. How horribly ignorant of the stout tabby, considering she took no notice.

Her warriorhood grows closer and closer with each day, and Stormypaw is eager to not mess it up. She will be one of the greatest warriors ThunderClan has ever seen and that means doing whatever she can to defend their borders. With claws already out, she peers down at the trespasser with narrowed eyes, her tail flicking back and forth to maintain her balance on the low tree branch. A low growl rumbles in her throat, likely warning the SkyClanner about her whereabouts. But she is quick, and with agile movements she springs down to land on top of the stocky orange and white cat with a yowl. She attempts to use her downward momentum to tackle him, grappling him to the ground where she tries to pin them into the dirt. "You're on ThunderClan territory, trespasser!" She barks at him, youthful voice hardly intimidating but the claws sinking into her pelt show the apprentice's capabilities.

Sights trained on the little insect ahead, crouched and ready for another pounce, Cheddar had hardly noticed Stormypaw so close to him. It wasn't until a low growl ripped Cheddar out of their play, looking around to try and find where it had come from. There's hardly any time for him to even look, though, as their forms collide and Cheddar could feel the warm soil slam against his chin.

"Oof-" The air in their lungs burst through their maw, leaving him breathless from Stormypaw's attack. The sensation of claws breaking skin sent Cheddar into a panic, desperately trying to wriggle away from her. "I am nay foe! Prithee stop- help! Blazestar!" They shouted as fear overwhelmed their senses, calling back for the patrol they had long since abandoned.

Like Stormypaw, Burnpaw's warrior ceremony was rapidly approaching and thus, the ebony tom was desperate to prove himself, to show the clan he had been born into how far he had come, what a great warrior he had become despite his father's kittypet blood running through his veins. He wants to become a great fighter like his first mentor was, he wants other cats to whisper his name fearfully when he appears on the battlefield, a force to be reckoned with. More than that though, he just wants to be the best ThunderClanner he can be, and that means keeping the border safe, keeping his family safe.

Stormypaw was a weird she cat. She preferred to spend her time climbing trees, perching in the branches like a SkyClanner. He thinks the word like a curse but he keeps the thought to himself and continues on the border patrol, business as usual. That is- until he hears a crashing noise. Immediately, his head turns to the direction of the sound and he is crashing through the bushes, swearing as a branch whips him in the face, a scratch opening up a small mark in his face and beading with small drops of scarlet.

When he finally comes to a halt he is greeted by the sight of Stormypaw with a kittypet pinned underneath her. He is about to congratulate his clanmate on her catch but then the kittypet calls out. Most of the words are foreign, strange in his ears. All of them except one. "Are you serious?" he says with a sarcastic laugh. Did they really think his father of all cats was going to come help them?

Of course a patrol along the SkyClan border couldn't be normal. As sure as the sun would rise, the Clan of kittypets always had something, like murdering his Clanmates in cold blood. Or kittypets.

Like Burnpaw, the sound of growls and pleads has him running not far behind, himself able to avoid the whipping branch. The sight has him barking out a laugh, but there's no humor in it. "Are you kidding?" he exclaimed. Blazestar? "And where did the brilliant Blazestar dredge this one up?" he muttered, half to himself.

It made no sense to him how he could just let any damn cat that so much as breathed his way into their ranks. All it did was lead to situations like this. Blatant disregard for borders and rules. Not to mention the ever-present stink of Twolegs.

Lightpaw made no move to call Stormypaw off, instead choosing to watch the struggle with a distinctly unamused look. "Maybe next time you'll learn not to cross borders into places you don't belong," he accused to the wailing kittypet. "Drive him out or something, Stormypaw," he added encouragingly to the other.

following up alongside lightpaw, she takes in the rather interesting scene. stormypaw had an older skyclanner pinned, orange and white limbs flailing. this cat was far too old to not be able to defend themselves from an apprentice. what exactly was skyclan doing over in the pine forest? thunderclan kits had more prowess than whatever this cat was displaying.

nightbird just watched curiously, an amused huff passing through her nose at lightpaw's questioning of the kittypet leader. despite their life being in another's paws, this cat spoke in an odd tongue. "the hell's a prithee?" she grumbled, almost more interested in the strange word choice of the skyclanner than the dreadfully bland squabble before her.

she could call stormypaw off, show mercy to this stranger, but they had trespassed. thunderclan was fully in the right to deal with them how they saw fit. the lead warrior nodded at her apprentice's accusation, ears twitching as he told the silver molly to drive them out. she didn't think that would be enough to do the job. "perhaps you should do something about that tongue while you're at it."

Blazestar's patrol has gone fine so far, beyond a few clumsy, untrained paws scaring away prey. He's surprised worse hasn't happened -- until he hears his name, surrounded by frantic fancy-sound gibberish, embedded in a guttural cry for help.

He abandons his patrol, rounding a pine tree to see one of the shelter cats pinned unceremoniously beneath a ThunderClan apprentice. Blazestar groans inwardly. Cheddar has blundered straight into their territory. Among those who jeer at the hapless kittypet is his son, Burnpaw, and Blazestar's eyes narrow just slightly.

"Hello, ThunderClan," he says wearily, revealing himself. He's mindful, staying a few pawsteps from the scentline. Wouldn't want to suffer Cheddar's fate, after all. "That cat you have pinned is a shelter cat in training. They haven't learned all the Clan scents yet." His voice strains, both pleading and embarrassed. His blue gaze scrapes over Cheddar's writhing form. "Please let her go. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again."

WE HAVE YET TO CRASH ✧°.☀ —————————————————————————————
Nightbird's arriving comment earns a snrk from the onlooking apprentice. The trespasser really did have a way with words, didn't he? Lightpaw only gave it a moment's thought before he deadpanned in a mumble, "Prithee pathetic."

Beyond the border came a scent followed by a meek greeting, the golden tom's stare sliding over to the hero they had all been awaiting. There was significant hesitation before he stiffly dipped his head in return. At least he didn't cross the border.

As Blazestar explains the circumstance of their writhing victim, he can't help the way his nose crinkles. Shelter cat? Was that what they were calling kittypets now? It was hardly any better.

"Judging from the way their face is currently shoved into the dirt, I'd say the lesson on ThunderClan's scent is well in progress." Lightpaw swished his tail. Then, in a lower voice he added, "Maybe next time don't welcome a bunch of idiots into your Clan."

Green eyes fell back upon Stormypaw. "She can't leave if you don't let her go, y'know." He wanted to get the patrol done so he could go back to camp.

The cat beneath her begins to yowl strange words, causing Stormypaw's head to whirl with confusion. "What are you saying!" She screeches just as loudly, bared teeth just behind her ears as she does so. Before long, though, the trespasser begins to call for Blazestar and Stormypaw's clanmates turn up. She lifts her head with an arrogant smirk, glancing back towards Burnpaw, Lightpaw, and Nightbird with pride. A couple of them egg her on and she's willing to do so, her thick tail lashing with excitement at the thrilling opportunity. Adrenaline is already coursing through her veins and causing her legs to twitch eagerly. That is, until SkyClan's leader turns up.

She flashes narrowed eyes towards him, although her ears involuntarily angle backwards out of submission. Lightpaw speaks up, openly criticizing the tom across the border and Stormypaw can hear her heart pound inside her chest. As much as she wants to teach the intruder a lesson...a clan leader as asked her to release them. She hesitates, weighing the feeling of submission she feels beneath Blazestar's gaze and the feeling of excitement as her clanmates stare at her expectantly. Finally, after what feels like moons, she steps off of him with a wrinkle in her snout. "I showed them, anyhow," The bicolor grumbles, staring after the trespassing SkyClan warrior with slit eyes and an angrily lashing, albeit low, tail.

And then suddenly, here he is, the man of the hour. If I called for help would he come for me like this? He thinks not. Blazestar was, in his mind, much more interested in his beloved kittypets after all. The cream point fixes Burnpaw with an icy stare, he can feel it burning a hole in his shaded pelt but he does not flinch. He returns the stare with one of his own. Intense golden eyes looking right through the tom that stands before him.

It is only when Lightpaw speaks that the spell is broken. Out of the corner of his eyes he looks at the sandy colored apprentice, agreeing with his sentiment. Even a kit knew better. "I'm sure she won't make the same mistake again..." he says in response to Stormypaw, claws unsheathing and curling into the soft dirt underfoot. There is a blatant or else hidden behind his tone, an indication that the next time it happened he would be more than happy to sink his claws into flesh instead of earth.

He watches as his clanmate steps off the offender, waits for the kittypet to get off their land, his gaze not leaving their orange and white pelt for a moment and then his eyes find their way back to his father. He does not say anything though, just dips his head. "It was nice seeing you, Blazestar." he doesn't want to linger any longer than he has to and with that, he turns and stalks away, tail flicking behind him.

// out!

For several heartbeats, Blazestar thinks the gray and white apprentice will not let Cheddar go. She gives him a long look, clearly debating whether she'd rather continue pummeling the sniveling shelter cat. To his relief, however, she withdraws. "I showed them, anyhow," she snarks, and Blazestar forces his fur to lie flat. "As I said, this cat is entirely untrained," he says, struggling to keep his tone mild. "He will not trespass again."

The sand-colored tabby tom mutters something under his breath that Blazestar does not quite catch, but he can hear the disrespect seeping from his tone. The SkyClan leader shoots him an icy stare, but he does not rebuke him.

It's his own son who causes Blazestar to flinch. There is no affection in the amber gaze Burnpaw gives his father. "It was nice seeing you, Blazestar." The Ragdoll's face crumples, his dignity trampled by a simple cordial farewell. His ThunderClan kits are entirely lost to him, and every interaction they have at the border presses into him sharper than a thorn in the paw pad. "Goodbye, Burnpaw," he murmurs, staring after his son as he disappears into the undergrowth.

He directs his attention to Cheddar now, who has hopefully by this time scampered back to SkyClan's territory. "So now you know," he says, though his anger is gone and his voice has dulled considerably, "to pay attention to the scents around you. You do not trespass on another Clan's territory. If you do, you are inviting hostility not only toward yourself, but to your entire Clan."

He flicks his tail tip against Cheddar's flank, gesturing for them to go. "Let's find our patrol," he mutters, padding away from the remaining ThunderClan cats.

The situation passes by in a small flurry, and Barkjaw's distant shape takes on more presence with the fading fluff of the SkyClan leader. His tail lashes behind him as he strides through the patrol and to his apprentice's side, hoping to offer some semblance of comfort and approval as everything begins to unwind. Maybe he's among those wishing it'd gone worse than it had, that there'd been more a fight in them– but a rational part of him is glad that it'd not. "Well done," he tells her instead of expressing any of that, leaning down to jostle her shoulder some. "You were alert and quick to action– do you think you played your advantage well? Or was there something you'd've done differently?" To the rest of the patrol, he jerks his head along their route, though a brow raises to Nightbird for the lead warrior's assent that it was time to move on. "Good on you for letting 'em up."

The words of the gathering ThunderClanners had fallen on deaf ears as Cheddar could only focus so much on the sharp stinging that Stormypaw's claws sent. Her screeching was certainly no help either, making his ears ring. He could feel the weight against his body simply flatten him against the ground the longer she remained pinning him, his strength in resisting against her fleeting. And while he could hardly hear the insults from her peers, seeing them encircle him like buzzards only added to his misery. Would they kill him? Would they watch and gloat like gladiators at his demise?

Then at last the savior arrives! Just from the corner of their vision, Cheddar could see Blazestar's golden pelt arise. There's a few moments where Cheddar felt like Stormypaw wouldn't abide by Blazestar's request, adrenaline still high in facing, what they could only assume, was a vicious end. And suddenly the pressure was gone, Stormypaw had freed them.

Cheddar gasped as he quickly rose from his paws to stand, scrambling to stand beside Blazestar. They practically clung to the larger toms body for safety, a living barrier between the gawking ThunderClanners and himself. They nod shamefully at Blazestar's input. "T'will not befall again." Cheddar swore, voice shaky though sincere. He would hate for any of his peers at home to succumb to what he had. He would have to warn them when they returned! "A-Aye sir! One moment..." Boldly, the spotted cat turned to his assailant and her friends.

"Thanketh thee for teaching me a valuable lesson. I shall respect this boundary, and thy home." Her head dipped low in great respect before turning off and bounding after the golden leader.

at the skyclanner's call, blazestar comes rushing from the pines. explains that the fine warrior before them is one of the shelter cats rescued alongside their warriors. she had heard at the gathering about the whole ordeal, how they came back with a horde of kittypets. nightbird wondered how their swelled ranks of untrained cats would bode for their freshkill pile, but said nothing.

the lead warrior listened to the thorned statements lightpaw made, however she did not attempt to quiet him down. silently, she agreed with her apprentice before her gaze turned to stormypaw who was in the process of releasing her opponent. she gave a subtle nod to the apprentice's words, watching the skyclanner scramble off of their territory from the corner of her eye.

things had settled, burnpaw stalking out and barkjaw congratulating his apprentice. nightbird gives a subtle nod to the latter's raised eyebrow before turning on her heels to follow. once again, voices resumed over the border. the orange feline returned to... give thanks? she fixed him with a judgmental, yet concerned gaze. the molly only huffed lightly, turning her head with a small eye roll. "weird," and it was. she had never seen a cat thank another for attacking them. the molly shrugged and began moving her paws once more to continue the patrol.
