bear is a truly massive cat, bulky and tall with broad shoulders and a deep, rasping voice. their thick pelt is an amalgamation of dull colors that are reflected in their riverside home; deep blue and brown stripes across their paler shades, and a white underside that’s marred with the tan of dirt. their fur is often crusted with water and dries in uneven spikes, usually at their cheeks and elbows. their eyes are bright yellow-green, and perpetually set in a squint.

given their demeanor of an oft-silent observer, it is easy to mistake bear for a gentle giant, one who bends easily to the wills of those smaller than them. perhaps it is even hoped that their protective nature would win out over their sharp tongue. her mouth may open rarely, but she is fanged. insults fly like sparks, setting ablaze her façade to reveal a more dangerous creature. her distaste for outsiders needs no words to be shown; she approaches strangers with all the presence of her namesake, a lumbering threat.
among those who she trusts, bear is perhaps most accurately described as bumbling. she worries about making a fool of herself, often to the point of anxiety—which only leads to her making more a fool of herself. she has a tendency to shut down in the presence of pretty she-cats, although this shutdown is wholly mental on her part and hardly visible in her ever-stony expression.
— mannerisms: moves slowly and with an almost eerie silence. hardly ever speaks. uses gestures and facial expressions to communicate simple ideas, and short sentences for more complex thoughts. especially careful around kits. seems to possess a dry sense of humor, marked by a lot of huffing and snorting. has somewhat poor eyesight and tends to squint. has trouble fishing due to their eyesight, and often dives in after fish. willing to throw away her morals to serve those in higher positions than herself.
