Carrionshriek knew that getting out of camp was hard for some ThunderClanners, like Howlingstar's Council or those that had been vocal about their distaste for Skyclaw's leadership, but she had found herself able to slip out of camp without so much as a sneeze in her direction. Leaving camp felt like sneaking out these days, and Carrionshriek was briefly reminded of the day she'd sneaked out after Roaringpaw when they were both apprentices. Well, Roaringpaw was still an apprentice, and Carrionshriek was rather glad that he hadn't been witness to her own warrior ceremony where Skyclaw had saddled her with a name that make her stomach turn whenever she heard it. At least there were some in camp who continued to call her by her former name.
She'd left camp to get some fresh air, and had ended up taking a long walk alongside the borders while lost in her thoughts. She hadn't gotten out much when she was an apprentice, so perhaps she was making up for lost time in the moments that she could get to herself, now; she knew the territory and landmarks, but just walking in nature, it wasn't something that Carrionshriek had been able to find time for when she was younger. Now, she felt like she was on borrowed time, and made a mental note to grab a mouse or squirrel on the way back to camp so if anyone questioned her, she could say she had been out hunting.
Her nose burned as she came up to the Thunderpath dividing ThunderClan and ShadowClan territories. It was always hard to scent anything over its acrid stench, but time had learned her how to distinguish smells from its egregiousness. Smelling ShadowClan here was no surprise, as this was their border, but she could smell a very distinct ShadowClan scent from where she was standing on the other side of the Thunderpath, and with a quick glance around, her gaze fell on a shape in the shadows.
"Hello? Is someone there?" Carrionshriek called, stepping a cautious pawstep closer to the Thunderpath.
