Harrierpaw rarely threw out challenges, but when cats tossed one at him he could hardly say no. Last time he had raced Whitepaw through Rabbit’s Run he had lost, but now thanks to her rematch invite he had a chance to prove what he’s learned as a Moor Runner. He has no intent on losing this race, Firefang has taught him how to retain stamina, how to remain swift. Tunnelers could be fast too, sure, but surely a cat who constantly had the wind in their fur would be better?
Regardless… hopefully he isn’t defeated twice.
His paws thud on the ground and his breathing grows heavy. He’s managed to get in front of Whitepaw for a few fox-lengths, but he worries he won’t be able to hold his position. Refusing the temptation to look behind him he keeps going, all too aware of the sound of the white she-cats own paws thudding behind his. Unable to help but play dirty he stomps his rear legs they hit the floor, hoping to kick up dirt in Whitepaw’s path.
