lynxtooth is slatepaw's father and mentor. slatepaw has vivid memories of his mother's death at his father's paws and is ever fearful that he may find the same fate if he ever steps out of line. in addition, lynxtooth's training methods are cruel and abusive. despite this, slatepaw doesn't hate his father, as there's still some sense of dependency there. he strongly distrusts and is fearful of lynxtooth.

gravelpaw is slatepaw's brother. while he gets along with his brother, there's an underlying uncomfortable feeling that he can't shake. this is due to gravelpaw's admiration of lynxtooth. despite this and his own rocky relationship with his father, he's a little jealous that lynxtooth treats gravelpaw better than him, and that slatepaw is merely a shadow in his brother's progress. while he doesn't fully trust him, gravelpaw is one of the only cats that slatepaw can 'almost' be himself around.

sootpaw / ♡ ♡
sootpaw was slatepaw's first 'friend' in the clan. sootpaw was given to slatepaw as a pre-arranged friendship by lynxtooth in order to influence him towards being more loyalist and militant rather than reserved and passive as he is. in order to not disappoint his father, slatepaw took to following the leader's son around everywhere, and never quite grew out of that habit, even now that he doesn't need a guide to clan life. he's formed a dependency on sootpaw, and while he doesn't particularly like the tom, he feels a little comfortable in his company, since it's the only company besides his brother that he's ever known.
