I love you, and if you want, I'll call you King

Wasppaw shivered, another blast of freezing air barreling over the plains they called home. A tired green eye glared at the star above. Not in contempt as her father would have. Not in hate as others would think. But in annoyance, the emotion leaking out of her and searching for something - anything - to blame.
Since her training with Mallowtail, the apprentice's mind seemed to be filling up with questions. Simple ones at first, but bigger, more dangerous ones threatened to follow. She tried her best to ignore them - no one would take kindly to Snakehisses spawn questioning the clan - but the cold had chipped at her self-control for to long.
"Why don't we have den's again? Or sleep in the tunnels?" As much as she hated the dirt paths, they were some semblance of warm.
Her question was quite, meant only for her siblings' ears but the wind caught it and brought it around camp, spreading it like a disease. Her nose retreated into her tail, feigning deep sleep fake snoring and all.

But why do I lie awake each night thinking
"Instead of you, it should be me"?

ooc// this is the posting of the discord rp! Please wait for @ROWANPAW and @beetlepaw to respond!

Rowanpaw's littermates were no longer strangers to the cold, as leafbare has had an iron grip on the territories for weeks now, but conditions weren't any less bearable. Nights plunged into an icy darkness while days were not much better, still gloomy and whipping with frosty gales that froze Rowanpaw's whiskers and numbed their pads.

Although the calico attempted to keep the display of their discomfort to a minimum, they chattered against their will in a low response to Wasppaw, "The tunnelers could retreat to the tunnels, I s-suppose. The rest of the clan is too large to fit." Carving out the tunnels to accommodate larger bodies would take time and energy ( and would potentially be dangerous, considering how heavy and unstable the soil was with the snow and all ).

☾ ⋆*・゚ The wind is unforgiving; nothing could hide from it, not even words. The two siblings were very practical cats, future lead warriors no doubt, their minds ever turning. They were born within the clan; the dark apprentice didn't know that the burdens they carried were different than their own. But it left the siblings unlike the others.

Beetlepaw never questioned why they were forced to sleep out under the open stars, constantly facing the wrath of the sky. Simply content with blending in the monotony so long as it didn't interfere with her safety. Perhaps that's why Wasppaw's mind wanders, feeling the cold eat at her; maybe the fear of the freezing open air would take her siblings from her in the night. Now that Beetlepaw could understand.

"P-probably because of... t-he bugs and w-worms." Their chipper voice rang out, and they gave an exaggerated dreamy sigh, like crawling around in the dirt as a bug was the most wonderful thing. As a kit they dreamed of exploring the world underground. "They could c-crawl… in someone's n-nests if we a-all slept underground." There was probably a more practical reason like what Rowanpaw suggested, and yet the starry-eyed apprentice could only think of how warm an underground cuddle pile would be.

At Rowanpaw's hushed whisper, Wasppaw couldn't help but finda fleck of annoyance hit her face. She knew her littlermate did not mean it like this - Rowanpaw could never hurt anyone intentionally, that wasn't them - but still... Tunnelers... Wasppaw was not one of them now. She was ripped from that life, from her siblings and their dirt and their shadows and thrust into the light. She hated leaving them behind, almost as much as she hated the dirt confides that would swallow her under the earth. A very sleepy part of her had been willing to brave it for the sake of warmth, but she was anything but willing now.
"I suppose, yeah.." She whispers back, moving to be closer to the similar pelted cat for warmth before taking refuge in Beetlepaw's comments.
Wasppaw's lips jerked upwards before her paw shot up to cover them. Beetlepaw, complaining about bugs The irony did not escape her. The dreamy sigh that escaped the cat afterwards made her very happy she didn't respond verbally.
"They crawl all over our nests in hotter seasons," She remarks, shifting in her nest a bit to better face the other cat. She is aware of Roawnpaw's reason, but not so sure Beetlepaw is. After all, the bug-named cat didn't have the same experience with the dirt as they had. They probably don't know thats a risk. Wasppaw did. It haunted her since the day she learned about it.
She sighs, a light noise that births icy tendrils from her mouth.
"C-come here, Beetlepaw."" Its almost a whisper. "Come, get warm over here." Louder, but not confident. Still, the little apprentice means it, shifting so Beetlepaw could easily slide over and join the two litter mates in their cuddle. "No use to anyone if you freeze," She tries to justify the sudden offer, feeling very silly. She can hear the chill int he other apprentice's voice, and finds herself wanting to help - however uncomfortable it makes her.

"I wouldn't mind a bug or worm crawling into my nest" it sounded quite nice actually, terrible for those who sleep with their mouth open but they're not one of them so they don't bring that up. "You get that up here anyways when it's not cold" they meow in a blunt cadence, glancing at Beetlepaw as she joins in the conversation. They're young so she supposes maybe they didn't really notice that so much during the warmer moons. Maybe they had some particularly pedantic queens who refused the mere idea of a bug being anywhere near them.

She glances to the siblings from the nest which they have sat up from, faltering on Rowanpaw for a moment. "We wouldn't really be WindClan if we didn't have to deal with the wind I guess?" It's a flimsy suggestion, if that's the case why weren't they really named SkyClan since they're stuck looking at the damned thing all the time? Well, Brackenpaw doesn't on account of being underground for most the day but they thought the thought process was sound enough. Whatever weird game Wasppaw was playing with the fake snoring seems to be abandonded at least, that's nice considering how grating it was on her large ears.

The face she makes at the offering of a cuddle pile towards Beetlepaw is clearly seen. Not particularly disgust but a sneering confusion, sure it would bring warmth but why would you want to do that with clanmates you weren't particularly close to? They attempt to look for Frightpaw to see if she would have a similar opinion but chances are that the apprentice is asleep... which is what they should all be doing right now.
