A STOLEN LITTER ADOPTED BY SOOTSPOT
There is no greater need than the need to be loved, but it is an impossible thing to attain for one inherently paranoid about the world. Sootspot, Sootstar’s firstborn son and former Lead Warrior during the civil war, is used to looking out for himself due to the inherent feeling of betrayal from the many rebellions against his mother. He is quick-thinking, a good actor and remarkable at tunneling, but suffers from low emotional intelligence due to a lack of empathy and is prone to outbursts when insulted.
Living in Sunstar’s WindClan has been one big insult to the chimera, who believes himself entitled to more than being just a Tunneler due to his continued displays of ‘loyalty’ to the tom. He ostracises his remaining living kin and acts surprised that they do not spend time with him, but despite his own shortcomings, he still feels the sting of being ‘unloved’. He has few friends and blames it on his mother, he miscommunicates with StarClan and blames it on them for not responding. He is not an animal that can be introspective and the weight of the world around him is enough to make him bitter of the home that ‘took so much from him’.
Then, the final nail in the coffin, the unraveling of Sootspot’s heritage by the paws of his half-brother, the reveal that WindClan’s firstborn was a partial rogue and that his mother had kept it secret for all her moons with him. With StarClan not answering his agitated prayers and feeling mocked by his mother, Sootspot decides to take matters into his own paws and create a family free from the sin of his predecessors. A family that would only know him, and therefore, would love him.
But what can someone do if they feel they can’t make one themselves?
Somewhere on unclaimed grounds, a loner’s kittens are taken from her the same way Sootspot has always hurt others - by using the very tunnels his weary paws have dug. Then, within WindClan, three orphaned kittens are delivered by Sootspot to the nursery, who declares himself their adopted father and promises to raise them as a Queen should the need arise.
They will be taught to be loyal to Sootspot, not to WindClan, but who knows how their story will play out once cracks in the happy family begin to show?
RULES:
— Sootspot has symptoms associated with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and, whilst he will play the part of a doting parent, he is likely to convey more volatile symptoms in times of conflict with his adopted kittens (gaslighting and entitlement to a point of emotional manipulation). Please be mindful of this and take care of your mental health if it is an uncomfortable subject!
— Though the naming list is not the be-all-and-end-all, please be aware that Sootspot will not name anyone close to him after mean-spirited or potentially degrading things (broken, twisted, death, etc.) as he believes it reflects poorly on his kin.
— Disabilities are acceptable as long as they’re portrayed sensitively!
— Sootspot is an active (10+ posts per month) character and I would prefer if kittens could commit to at least semi-casual (5+ posts) activity! I’m historically lax on rehoming and readopting but be mindful it’s a possibility with consecutive months of no posting.
— The kittens will not be told much about their circumstances! They will only know that Sootspot is their ‘father’ and that their mother is dead. It is unlikely for Soot to reveal the truth unless a plot for it comes up later.
— Though the kits will be delivered to WindClan at about 1 moon, they will be played from 3 moons onwards and will age up on the 3rd of each month!
— Kittens will be chosen on August 3rd, two weeks from now! The form is a free-for-all as long as basic information is included. Brownie points are offered to people with one or less WindClan characters as I like diversity!
