He beckoned his student into the quietness of the den- not a patient in sight, separate from the world. The last few weeks he had been focusing Hailstorm's training on simply foraging- looking for herbs, learning to pick them out among 'regular' plants, was a skill that needed to be as sharp as claws. Now it was time to put into practice how to use those herbs- in a theoretical setting, of course. Berryheart revelled in his experiments, but he was in no rush to permanently injure himself.
Suddenly, Berryheart flopped on his side, flat as a puddle on the ground. Only once he was laid did he give an explanation. "Imagine my leg is injured." The instructions were hummed clearly and directly, despite their fantastical basis. "It's not bleeding." He wiggled his leg, the one with the missing paw. "It looks very twisted, and some of it seems to hang limply- it is not simply misplaced. What have I done to it?"
From where he lay, dull green eyes flickered expectantly to his apprentice's face. Being a medicine cat was not simple fact-learning... logic and creativity would lead you down a shining path of true knowledge, too.
