He's alone this time, sitting quietly in the plush grass fields that replicated the world he once walked within. The air is not filled with the laughter of the friend he so desperately wished to wrap around and comfort. It is a pain he could barely stand, simply watching, hoping, praying even still. Wasn't it strange? To be up here among the very beings he worshipped and still find himself inferior among them. Still caught in the habit of wishing they could do something when he knew they could not.

Passive entities only meant to share the wisdom of reflection. He wished they could do more, but what cat up here didn't? Undoubtedly Rattleheart wished to prevent any injury or heartbreak from their kin, and Shrikethorn would give up claws and teeth if it meant Sootspot and his kittens were safe. But regarding his friends situation, hiding the shame of wanting to experience motherhood, there was little empathy for her from her kin. The meager amount of her kin that found their way to the stars, that is.

"Oh, Cottongsprig..." Heathermoon sighed as he tearfully watched Bluefrost accept Cottonsprigs litter as her own. He wished he could be there for her now. Maybe he could have helped Peony hunt for them in the cover of night. In another lifetime he would have been at her side as a protector for his friends instead of helplessly observing and wishing.

"I still love you. I'm still here." The tabby murmured after a long sigh. He could not see what held in her future, but it didn't take a powerful being to know it would be uncertain and shadowed. Sunstar's forgiveness could only be stretched so far, Wolfsong was suffering from sickness without his skilled trainee to give him the proper care.

Bluefrost may only be able to give her some reprieve, taking in the evidence of these children, but how long could such a secret be kept from an entire Clan? After watching one of RiverClan's secrets come to life just weeks before, it didn't give him any hope for how long they would be able to keep this buried.

Whatever came of Cottonsprig after this, Heathermoon would remain loyal to his friend. To Peony, who nobly protected a vulnerable queen in the wastes. To Foxglare, who fearlessly remained true to those he cared about. And to these kittens, who he would hold no judgement over based on the actions that brought about their birth.

"It is painful, to watch the ones you love from up here." Hyacinthbreath's thick, accented voice speaks up from behind the tom as he pondered in a pale white field of grass. Cottonsprig's decisions had led to this, and now her situation was much similar to her own. To her mate, who still roamed as a loner beneath the starry night sky, breathing in the air of life yet still. "I still watch my son, my little Periwinklebreeze- it is like I am chained here, forced to watch him struggle. Alas, WindClan is not as it used to be when Sootstar reigned. There will be mercy, so I hope." Hyacinthbreath exhales, flicking an ear as she rounds Heathermoon's side.

She gestures with her paw to the space next to him. "May I join you?" She asks softly, tail flicking behind her as starry blues peer towards the tom.
