She was free! At least, free from supervised patrols out of camp. Turtledove, -paw no longer, was relishing her new found freedom by asking almost every warrior she ran into if they wanted to patrol with her. It was slim pickings. Most cats she asked were too busy or tired to patrol with her. When Valesight agreed, she nearly jumped with joy. They had been apprentices together and she regretted not hanging out with him more when they were. No time like the present!

The tabby led her pale counterpart through the beech copse with a healthy trot. "So then I chased the fish downstream all the way to the twoleg camp! Snakeblink was so mad!" She chuckled at her own story and looked over her shoulder at Valesight. "Do you have any funny fish stories?" She asked and spun around to walk backwards

Truthfully, she didn't really have a plan for this patrol. She was just bored and wanted someone to talk to. The elders had shooed her away for the day, citing that all of their ticks were taken care of by the apprentices. Snakeblink was busy doing lead warrior stuff and Moonbeam was - like everyone else in RiverClan - busy. It was honestly really frustrating. Valesight seemed to be the only one not busy today… or avoiding her…

Needless to say, he was surprised to be sought after... especially by one so spry and cheery. He didn't have much a penchant for chatting the day away like Turtledove did and could name very few warriors that would identify him as friend. Robinheart was probably the best example of his limited relationships, Moonbeam too.... Maybe he just only had an affinity for making friends out of she-cats? Nervousness finds his paws suddenly, realizing that they are quite alone... That maybe he's done something to catch her eye in another way?

Gold-dusted greens find her carefree face, grinning as she talks about a tale involving her mentor... she turns towards him, unbothered by the lack of sight behind her as she walks and he can't help but smile back at her. "Funny stories? Hmm..." He was not the most ... silly natured tom he knew... but he was sure there had to be something he could relate to her with. "Oh! Here... listen to this," he starts and realizes before he begins this tale must involve some exaggeration towards hilarity. "When I was in the medicine cat's den, because of my leg," he stretches the offending limb, adorned in tooth-mark scars, "And... uh... the red-wing tortoiseshell brought me a frog!"

That's only.. the set up of course, and he realizes his proclivity for avoiding names may make this harder if she isn't too attentive on the appearances of their clan-mates. Obviously he meant Robinheart but... "She promised we wouldn't let it get loose in the den but... between you and me... I fell asleep at one point and it wasn't there when I woke up. I still wonder if maybe it's wandering around in that den, stealing herbs with it's slimy little legs..."

Was that funny? Or more likely a horror story? Valesight realizes suddenly he is not terribly good at story telling....

Valesight is not a good story teller. This fact became apparent as he tries to assemble a story for Turtkedove to chuckle at. Luckily for him, it doesn't take much for her to laugh. The image of a frog becoming a phantom nuisance for the easy-going medicine cat was enough to warrant a raucous guffaw. She didn't quite understand who had brought him the frog - or why he admitted it for that matter. If she had known who had done that she would've praised them until the day they died. "That's a really good one, Valesight!" It's a lie. It wasn't very good, but she was proud of his effort! Not everyone felt the need to be center stage like Turtledove and tell endless stories. She had practice.

"We should do that with the nursery! I'm sure the kits would love it. Claythorn might not, but she won't have to know it was us. Well, maybe it's a little too late for frogs. It's getting colder, y'know," she rambled. The spotted molly trotted behind Valesight to walk by his side. She glanced at his leg briefly, a routine spark of jealousy at the scars he held there. She had none yet except her self-inflicted one when she had tried to escape the twoleg "cage". She hoped one day she could have cool scars like the bi-colored tom walking next to her.

"So... what do you like to do? Do you like sparring? I've been itching to spar with another warrior since my ceremony!" Boredom had an easy time settling on Turtledove. She found the silences between conversation beats dull. No one seemed to be able to keep up. Again, she couldn't blame anyone. She had practice.

Turtledove seems receptive of his poorly told tale, which garners a sigh of relief from the short-spoken tom. He offers a kind smile, watching her skip around in front of him with all the energy of a freshly named apprentice. The suggestion to bring such silly, harmless chaos to the nursery piques his interest, giving a small hmm of thought. If they did it while Robinheart was still caring for her kits, he could at least trust that she'd quell whatever ire the prank summoned in Claythorn because she'd understand the joke. It was hers after all...

They'd just be taking up the mantle in her place.

The spotted she-cat slows to match his stride, a new interrogation on her lips- it's amusing... because he doesn't think anyone has ever been so pointedly interested in his favorite methods for passing the time. Sparring... It's not a bad option! He actually can do that one with relative skill, even if he was more comfortable avoiding the subject of combat and its practices. "Yeah, yeah, sparring's fun," he agrees, really just relishing in the spotlight of her attention. "I haven't really bothered since I graduated... we could go? Can't promise I'll go easy on you!"

What confidence normally took a lot of work to summon is easily bubbled from his maw, boasting playfully of his inevitable success as champion of their duel.

Turtledove's typical grin widened to the point her cheeks hurt. He clearly did not know what he had unburied in the warrior. Moons ago, when she was freshly apprenticed, she had started brawls randomly with her denmates. It had earned her several earfuls from an embarrassed Snakeblink. After too many incidents, she had reserved her rough-housing for mentor sanctioned training sessions with other apprentices.

Had her and Valesight ever sparred? A grin spread on her face as she realized she may have a new opponent. A new set of skills to learn and combat. Turtledove was grateful for the peace between the clans, but she itched to show off what she had learned on a real situation. She wanted the other clans to see her battle prowess and never think of fighting RiverClan again because of how well she fought. She wanted to be legendary.

With another loud laugh and no further prompting, Turtledove launched herself at the half-coated tom. She aimed to bowl him over and pin him under her paws. "I would never forgive you if you did go easy on me!" She cried out. His pelt was warm and soft between her toes and she could smell the earthy scent of his nest now that she was a whisker's length away from him. It was... nice.

He's somewhat prepared for the retort that might come from his challenging but it's not really enough to recover entirely, bowled over by a passionate ball of fluff. He laughs, lightly, as he staggers slowly to fall against her weight, careful in his graceless descent not to crush her.

"No fair! I wasn't ready," he protests, sunlit meadows squeezed tightly shut against his own amusement. He tries, gently and without any real effort, to shove her off, but finds the warmth of her fur a cold comfort for one who rarely presses so close to others.

This however... spawns a more mischievous idea and he tries to grapple her, wrapping forelegs tightly to give her a good-natured squeeze. "Now you're stuck!" An amused rumbling hums in his chest, winking open his eyes to glower at the warrior as if daring her to wriggle free. Then she'd have to let him up and who knows if she'd be able to knock him down a second time!
