〕Honeykit had only ever known the bright greens of Greenleaf. The canopy and undergrowth had only ever been that color: sage, and after everything that has happened in the last couple moons, seeing them change to autumnal oranges was just as overwhelming to the young kit. They watch the bronze leaves flutter in the wind with awe. "They're. . .different." The kitten muses, wrapping their tail around their body when a cold gust of wind swept through the clearing.

Honeykit was different, too. They had been, since Skyclaw's takeover, since their mother died, since they were exiled. Kittypet. Moocher. Their blood made them different from the moment they'd been born. Their father was the son of two kittypets — Honeykit had been doomed the moment they were brought onto this world. Lazy. Now the golden-furred kit didn't feel like themselves anymore. What had once been a spunky youth with a sharp tongue was now reduced to. . .what? Who and what were they now?

As they look at the trees surrounding camp, Honeykit doesn't know the answer to that question.

The hesitance in the kits voice had green eyes turn carefully, a gentle gaze upon the small kit. "But there is nothing wrong with them being different," she assured the kitten, a sadness spiking in the warriors heart as the child merely hesitated over the leaves. "the seasons change, we change, it is the way life works- it is scary, I once was scared too of the change, but before you know it, you look forward to the different scenery. Except leafbare," she had tried to joke, her head shaking as she settled next to honeykit.

She was not a kittypet, not that she knew of at least. She had rogue blood- her and her siblings or half siblings or whoever, they were always dropped off on the border- left all on her brother's shoulders to take care of. But she was not true to Thunderclan- but Barleysight had worked hard and proved herself. "But leaf fall, it's beautiful."

〕Out of each of the seasons, leaf-fall was her favorite. The cool breeze that replaced the radiating sun, the beautiful shades of red and orange leaves, playing in leaf piles, all of it. She had missed most of last leaf-fall, the season had come and nearly gone while they were on the journey. Instead of a gradual transition, they had gone from Greenleaf, to leaf-bare, then came home and caught the tail end of leaf-fall. This leaf-fall however, brought many changes other than the weather and leaves.

They're...different.

Awe filled tiny green eyes as the kit watched the wind swirl fire hued leaves through the camp. The camp floor was covered in leaves today, a sign that leaf-bare wasn't too far away. "They are." the quiet voice of the leader would speak as she padded up from behind. She hoped her sudden appearance would not startle Honeykit, as her paw steps were far from quiet given the crunching of the leaves underpaw.

Barleysight settled down beside them, and started to explain the change. Flamestar nodded as she spoke, but her gaze settled on the leaf litter that covered the ground in front of them. Honeykit, like much of the youth, had gone through so many bad changes in their lives that she didn't even know where to begin trying to help them. All she could do right now was try to keep peace, and keep the clan as consistent as possible. The leader stood up, motioning with her paw to try to get Honeykit to join her. "Has anyone taught you how to make a leaf pile yet?" With a swipe of a herb plastered paw, she would sweep the leaves underneath her into a very small mound. "The more leaves you gather, the bigger it gets. They are quite fun to play in."

a longhaired red tabby with low white and green eyes. flamewhisker's fur is a vibrant hue of red, riddled with thick classic tabby markings. her fur is medium in length, and she has a large, feathery tail. her chest, belly, tail tip, and her paws are dipped white. flamewhisker's eyes are a dark, deep shade of green. her shoulder has a large scar on it from a fight with a dog. she also has a shredded ear from a disagreement with a loner during her time alone before joining thunderclan. on particularly cold days, or sometimes before a major weather change, she will walk with a slight limp from her shoulder injury.

Much like Flamestar, Softsight had only caught the tail-end of the last Leaf-fall, but for a wildly different reason than her leader; where Flamestar had been off on the Journey to find something that would heal the Clans' sick, Softsight had only just been peeking out of the nursery under Spiderlily's watchful gaze. She could remember back then, when leaves were far bigger than they seemed now, that the crunch of them had hurt her sensitive ears - now, though, she tread over them without a second thought, an amused smile coming to her maw as she realized how times changed.

For Honeykit, it would the be first Leaf-fall of, StarClan willing, many. Barleysight was explaining the change in the leaves, and Flamestar explaining how to make a leafpile to have fun in, and Softsight thought it right to comfort the kit with her own anecdote from when she'd been a kit.

"I was born in Leaf-fall," Softsight mused, sending a pawful of leaves in Flamestar's direction for the leader to add to the small pile she had created. "The crinkling of the leaves hurt my ears back then. But I know plenty of kits had plenty of fun playing with them. I suppose... I was just different, in that way."

this will be her… second leaf-fall in thunderclan? yes. yes, that sounded correct. it’s almost energizing to work after a grueling, hot greenleaf. russet, and yellow colored leaves blend in nicely with her fur, and her long fur protects her from the cooler temperature. most of all, it’s only a few moons until her favorite season (is that disingenuous to think?).

honeykit’s tiny musings are a bit on the nose. the trees are different, so is she, yet they change and we cannot fix that. she’s safe in the walls of the ravine, however, her clanmates made sure of that.

barleysight does a better job at speaking to the kit, for leafhusk most likely would’ve faltered. it was difficult to look kits in the eye in the loner lands, and it still is even now. her golden eyes shift to the red hues of flamestar, who began to scrape together a leaf pile for the kitten to mess with. she doesn’t realize her paws carry her to a bundle of leaves she helps push over with softsight.

"or you can eat them." she says, out of the blue, in case the kit isn’t fond of the leaf pile for whatever reason. "leaf-fall’s a good change. when newleaf hits, the branches will bloom pretty flowers."
