"Hrm... all seems rather quiet, wouldn't you think?" Willowburn mused as he let his gaze linger on WindClan's territory. He had expected to see more movement than what he had been granted, and most of that had been from a flock of partridges bursting from the bushes after being startled by a passing thunderpath monster. The tabby wrinkled his nose as the acrid stench left by the beast lingered in his nostrils, clogging his senses for a temporary time. It was truly odd though given how quiet things had been as of late. Given that the neighbours had now missed a couple Gatherings it almost made him wonder if the illusive clan was still there at all. "Maybe they've done us a favour and dropped dead. What do you lot think?" He cast the query towards that of his peers as he sought for them to pile in on the musings.

With a gentle shake of his head he prowled along and took the time to lay down his markers on anything worthy of carrying his scent. No mere tuft of grass would do, oh no no no!

WindClan's border might not be any Clans favorite these days, but it was undeniably suspicious how quiet they had been. Unseen at now two gatherings, borders grown stale, Lilacfur was curious as to what could be happening in the moors.

"I know you've been to this border before, Caterpillarpaw. What can you share with Pipit about it?" A test and a lesson, Lilacfur wanted to see how well her younger apprentice retained her teachings between two mentors.

The only thing he cared about with this border was seeing whatever good-for-nothing had attacked his other beloved auntie. He was pretty certain it wasn't those stinky losers on the other side of the Thunderpath- it'd take a hell of a lot of effort to dodge those huge, black-pawed creatures just to beat up a medicine cat and flee back across. A flame-gold gaze seers the landscape with its ferocity, waiting and eager as claws knead the earth.

Lilacfur's voice reminds him that he is meant to be paying attention and learning.. but Willowburn seems to understand his frustration more so. There's no one here... it's too quiet. His chance at vengeance is all but ruined already. Peering at the younger cat who has been invited to do some instruction, the chocolate and black tom gives a small frown to his pale-furred kin. What the hell is a kid supposed to be teaching me right now? Aren't these guys enemies? What else is there but fight back?

Despite disliking most of the other clans - they all had an air about them that he took to them believing they were better than ShadowClan - Bonerattle disliked WindClan the most currently. The blatant disrespect for anything and everything that made the clans clans was not something he had enjoyed hearing about when others came home from gatherings, not to mention the whole stealing kits thing. Quickly the warrior glanced down at his apprentice at that thought, it had been her siblings that had been taken and he couldn't help but be curious about her own feelings on the moor-dwelling clan. "What do you smell, Thornpaw?" He'd ask instead, tail flicking behind him as he looked over the thunderpath. If she got anything more than acrid tar scent he'd be surprised, but didn't hurt to ask, to see where her strengths lie.

A large white figure finally makes his appearance, eyes judging the ShadowClan cats on the other side of their shared boarder. Gooseberry managed to catch some of the conversations they were having before he made himself known, scoffing at Willowburn’s comment. “We’re not dead yet. But that’s all you need to know.” The lead warrior doesn’t see any reason that they should know about how WindClan was split up, seeing as those traitors aren’t WindClan anymore. The quietness is nice, anyways. “But yes, do tell us all what scents you pick up,” he says to Thornpaw, wondering how smart a ShadowClan apprentice could even be, much less the singular child of Smogmaw that was not taken into their care briefly. At least if she messes up, he’ll have something entertaining to watch.

Today was not going to be a fun one given the task ahead and knowing that her siblings former captors were just a few hops out of the way. Thankfully, an eerie stretch of black two-leg matter split them like a fortress. It's stench awfully putrid to the molly as she crinkled her brown nose. Dutifully, she stuck close to her mentor listening idly to Willowburn's jab but even she can't find it in herself to amuse the quip. Thornpaw was already fighting the urge to scramble off towards camp and was forcing her nerves down to carry on with the patrol. Having a familiar presence was a small relief but she doubted even he could alleviate the building tension. Once they paused near the strange barrage of scents her mind whirled with recollection at the faintest whiff of moorland. Both of her siblings had reeked of it and being reminded of such a difficult time made Thornpaw's stomach twist.

Looking up her bi-colored gaze locked onto a large cat scoffing at her patrol leads remark. She knew better than to snap when peace was so fragile but all the blonde apprentice could see was red. Catching both her mentor and the strangers request the tabbies tail lashed with a vengeance. Taking a step forward her chin poised high to level with the Windclanner. Praying her cold expression could be seen from afar as she practically growled an answer. "All I smell is Windclan scum." Her voice comes harsh and steely with venom dripping from every word. She hated those damn cats with all of her tiny being and if Thornpaw had been half the pale tom's height she'd jump across just to throttle him. Not intending to stay for what would surely be a scolding she whips around and storms back towards the familiar line of sparse tree's. Away from the infuriating situation and into the respite of the silence she craved.

OOC;
Thornpaw is in an out! Any IC consequences for her actions are accepted!

Gooseberry’s face stays as neutral as ever, even as Thornpaw comes closer to where he is. It’s obvious that his words has spurred her on, which is exactly what he wanted. And as he is proven correct, and what she does is throw out an insult to WindClan, all he does is give a low chuckle. He doesn’t give her a response, as the apprentice takes her leave quickly after. His attention is instead on the rest of the patrol. “Well, our smell will be here forever. There’s always time to learn.” He plans on continuing to torment the other clans anyways, as long as he lives. And seeing how much of a brat Thornpaw has turned out to be, any doubts he had about kidnapping the ShadowClan kits prior to now is quickly killed off.

"By great StarClan, there's life over there! Who even knew?" Willowburn made an 'o' with his mouth and feigned shock over Gooseberry's appearance. Oh well, it had been wishful thinking that WindClan had been eradicated by its own hubris, but maybe with time it would still find ruin. He was fully prepared to continue walking but then Thornpaw's little outburst reached his ears.

The patrol lead stopped and he looked back at the youth, admittedly not with scorn but rather amusement. A chuckle escaped him even as Thornpaw's form retreated back into the trees. "As sharp as her name suggests." He purred before he brought his gaze back towards the lone WindClanner across the way. He knew that he had been told not to stir trouble but honestly who could resist? "Oh? So sure? Because it's been getting fainter by the day, my little rabbit munching friend. I suggest you hop on home now, back to your burrow and the solitude it seems to be bringing these days. Give my regards to Sootstar, if she's still kicking that is."

Gooseberry’s expression steels further as he acknowledges the patrol leader’s words without showing any outwards emotion. Was him being here not proof enough that Sootstar is alive and kicking, and will continue to? Even if their scent is not as strong as it was prior, it just means that those who do not matter are finally gone. Sounds like a good thing to him, but it’s not like he expects anyone from ShadowClan to understand, rats scurrying under everyone’s noses as their numbers grow despite what pitiful vermin they are. “I will gladly give your regards to Sootstar. Don’t worry, she’s still gracing the ground you walk on.” He stops himself from being any more snooty, finally taking his leave.

// OOC : Out!

I'M IN THE TREES, I'M IN THE BREEZE

"they're usually a lot louder here. but it's quieter than usual."

she admits, sensitive ears flicking back and forth. she didn't like this border. she never did. their scents are too strong, too windy if that made sense. and the smell do the rabbit that lingers on their teeth whenever they speak? mouth watering. they weren't nice cats, no, but at least they had good prey on that side of the border. they remember whenever there's a rabbit or two that crosses over, they manage to catch it. she will always be loyal to shadowclan who saved her from certain doom, but rabbit had to be some of the most favorite things she's tasted.

"chilledstar says windclan is dangerous, and... mousebrained."

she's repeating. she doesn't think they're mousebrained at all. she doesn't think anyone is. but dangerous is right. any cat that's willing to hurt others to gain power is dangerous. windclan surely does that.

"siltcloud used to say they're not be trusted. is that still true or did she... lie about that, too?"

can't blame her for not knowing whether to trust her former mentors words or not.
