It had been a simple request from Echolight - wait three nights and return to her with an answer. Although Elmbreeze agreed to her terms he already knew what his answer was going to be. There was no way he was going to leave Echolight and their unborn kits by themselves. He knew Sootstar nor Cicadastar would permit it but what was there to stop them really? There was nothing to say they couldn't be together other than their clans being at each other's throats.

And so with his mind made up, Elmbreeze waited for three excruciating days, each night feeling more and more desperate to slip away to his secret meeting place with Echolight and give her his answer. When the day finally came he was oddly calm and assured, and when he slipped out of camp in the night his pawsteps were purposeful. In hindsight, he should have told some of his clanmates of his intent but he wanted Echolight to be the first to hear of his decision. And then, when morning came, they would return to either WindClan or RiverClan together and express their intention to live as a family. As he walked, the tom shivered as a cool gust of air ruffled his pelt. It was a cold and foreboding wind but he did not put much thought behind it as he travelled. He had not even made it out of RiverClan's territory fully when things took a turn.

He did not spot the rogue until it was too late until their claws were in him dragging him to the floor. Elmbreeze yelped in surprise, and despite the sneak attack, he was quick to retaliate. The two cats fought for several minutes, evenly matched at first, until the hungry and more desperate rogue began to land more heavy blows against him. Feeling fatigued enough as it was and starting to feel the effects of his wounds, Elmbreeze simply could not keep up. The rogue knocked him to the ground and might have landed a fatal blow on him had it not been for a loud crack nearby. Moments later, light shone down upon them followed by the indistinct shrieking of a twoleg. The rogue darted away quickly enough, but Elmbreeze could not. Despite his injuries he managed to stand back up and try and get away on wobbly legs but he was too tired and hurt to run, and even though he tried to get away the twoleg was easily able to catch up. Elmbreeze raised his hackles and weakly hissed at the twoleg but this did little to deter them. They outstretched a naked paw towards them which Elmbreeze tried to swat away with his claws. The twoleg continued to be persistent, backing Elmbreeze into a corner from which he could not escape, and promptly scooping him up in their arms. Elmbreeze continued to protest but the twoleg ignored him, tightening their grip in fact, and carrying him out of the forest.

"Let me go!" Elmbreeze begged, writing as much as he could in their arms. "I have to see Echolight!"

All his meowing and hissing and spitting did nothing to deter this twoleg, who unbeknownst to Elmbreeze, was a kindly soul thinking they were rescuing an injured cat. When Elmbreeze realised they were taking him to their monster he writhed about even more desperate to escape, desperate to get to Echolight. A door opened and Elmbreeze was gently placed inside, a blanket was attempted to be wrapped around him but he flinched away and hissed even more. After shutting the door on him the twoleg proceeded to get into the monster as well. Completely unaware of the trouble they had just caused, the twoleg started their car and drove away, taking Elmbreeze with them. Whilst they could only think of helping Elmbreeze get better, Elmbreeze could only think of getting away and wondering if he would ever see Echolight and the forest he had called home again...

TLDR: Elm tried to get away to see Echolight and confirm he wanted to be with her but he was attacked by a random rogue and later rescued by a twoleg. He won't ever be seen again
feel free to have your character find some signs of what happened where he was taken but there will be little indication of who attacked him/where he went.

A S H P A W.

She's on patrol with @willowroot , trotting along behind with wide green eyes, quiet as her clanmates chatter. They've been searching for a good spot to fish along the river, someplace deep and slow-moving.

She doesn't recognize what she's recognizing at first—only that there is a vicious scent on the air and it scares her. It scares her all the way down to her bones.

Ashpaw freezes in place, hackles raised, legs locked and trembling. She opens her mouth to say something but nothing comes out, and it hits her, suddenly, what this scent is.

Twolegs.

(She remembers bars of stone, smooth and foreign. She remembers massive paws and thunder-sticks and something flashing silver, ripping through her side. She was so utterly small in those massive paws. She was nothing at all.)

And mixed with twoleg scent, entangled, is another—she knows whose this is—Elmbreeze. A warrior, big and brave and strong, like Willowroot or Smokethroat. He'd been so happy the last few weeks—he sometimes looked like he was dancing, the way he walked around camp. Really, really happy.

Something cold and heavy has filled her, and she can't move. Still locked in place, still shaking, Ashpaw's gaze finds her mentor's form, waiting and praying for someone else in the patrol to realize what they've stumbled upon.

he's out on a walk, when he stumbles across the patrol. beesong doesn't pay much mind to them, at first. they're padding along the river, searching for fish to hook with skilled claws. nothing out of the ordinary; such is routine for riverclan. he nods to them, and intends to carry on with his walk. but there is a shocked yowl from an npc, followed by the overwhelming stink of fear, and beesong is frozen in his place.

their paws threaten to quiver as they turn back towards the patrol, thin slit of a pupil betraying the terror that thrums in their chest in spite of the mask they don. there's fear-scent, and underneath, there is the scent of twolegs. of blood. of elmbreeze, beesong realizes as they force themself to close the distance between them and the patrol.

twolegs... once upon a time, beesong had found comfort in the bipedal creatures' scent. had bathed himself in it, curling up in warm laps and purring as strange paws scratched that perfect spot behind his ears. the scent of twolegs had been his home, more welcoming than the scent of his own kin had ever been. now, their scent brings apprehension. memories of warmth overpowered by nightmares of blood spilled by the same strange paws who'd once shown him nothing but love.

not all twolegs are good, beesong has come to realize. they are like felines in that regard; one could lift your heavy heart higher than ever, as quickly as one could drown an innocent child in the river.

and, poor elmbreeze... he'd been the unlucky one, this time around. it's a shame. the warrior had seemed so happy as of late. maybe he had been too happy. beesong's mouth draws into a thin line, their jaw aching from the tension of clenching. "i'll tell cicadastar." what else could they do? there is no body for them to prepare, no wounds for them to plaster poultices onto.

beesong turns towards the camp and away from the bloody earth.

there wasn't anything they could even begin to day right now. laughingstalk had gotten pretty good at making the most of dark and gloomy situations but there was nothing that could do this right now... maybe later. maybe they'd find something nicer to say, or do something stupid at their own expense, to make others laugh. but right now? they wouldn't dare. they gulped back whatever had been on their tongue, standing besides beesong before just nodding their head to the medicine cat.

"i'll come with. you don' gotta do this alone."

he insisted, giving a gentle nudge to him before walking beside him. starclan, be merciful.
