border DOG EAT DOG ─‎ ⋆ TC TOUR

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ the border with skyclan wasn't one she usually dreaded, but her paws were tired and cold from visiting each border. this was the clan she had most recently slighted, hunger and the lingerings of fear driving her over the border. nightbird didn't regret it- not when her kits were full for the first time since the cold had seeped in. she'd could only hope none of the warriors who caught her patrol would grace the border today. seeing riverclan and shadowclan in a short span had already put a bitter taste on her tongue.

"skyclan's border is our longest, we won't walk the whole thing today." honeypaw might not have issue, they've had a moon to build muscle and prepare for long walks such as these. her son's paws were still kitten soft, meeting every type of terrain the forest had to offer in one day. they'd each have the day off after this, if only in preparation for a long day of training come dawn. "orangestar is their leader. they have skilled climbers, unique to every other clan in the fact that they allow kittypets amongst their ranks." her words were even, devoid of judgement. she hadn't met many daylight warriors, but those with kittypet blood had long since proved their worth to thunderclan. whatever worked for skyclan wasn't her business to meddle in.

nightbird pays little mind to the patrol approaching from the pines, twitching her tail to prompt her apprentices away from the border as a precaution. they had surprisingly made it this far without incident. the lead warrior turns to twilightpaw and honeypaw, sitting for a moment to rest her paws before the trek back to camp. "questions?"

Careful azure eyes pick out movement among her pines before her dainty pink nose twitches with the stench of forest. Which clan was that again?
Anwir wrapped her past life as a show cat around her deceptively fluffy frame. Every hair in place. Every whisker straight. Belly always rumbling. Oh it'd been a hassle maintaining appearances during the blizzard - but wasn't that what being a warrior was about? Roughing it? Her children would claim so. Most of Sky Clan, she knew, agreed as well, though none were more diligent to their duties then she. It seemed other clans did not, however.
The cat whom she heard first - the large, fluffy black one - seemed fine enough. Nothing to write home about, and a quick rake over the Thunder Clanner left a faint smirk on the molly's perfect face. If she had been noteworthy at all, the scars at the base of her paws were... not the trophies many of these forest cats liked to think they were.
Anwir hadn't been apart of any fights, though she knew plenty about them. The other warriors in the clan simply could not stop complaining about one clan - Thunder Clan - whom kept stealing prey. Selfish. Entitled. Devious. The others had labeled them. Desperate. Anwir had thought. Only desperate cats make plays so obvious.
She watches the group of Thunder Clanners from behind the shroud of Sky Clan scent, folding her body into the pockets behind her mentor, waiting for a signal or a sign of what they would expect her to do. Communicate? Scare off? Oh she hopes for no conflict - it was simply to cold for such waste of energy.
She sighs, cold air stabbing at her lungs as she watches and waits. Devious would've been more interesting.

The last Clan. Twilightpaw wonders how ThunderClan became so fortunate to border every other Clan in this Star-forsaken-forest. Maybe in moons time she won't be so bothered by the long walks, her paws used to the exertion and new terrain. But today, as they round the next border and her mother promises that they will not walk the length of it, she damns her ancestors for thinking it a good idea to claim this land. She doesn't think she'd do well in the muck of the marsh, or the rapids of the wetlands, or even the openness of the moors - but could they not have organized... differently?

And this, she realizes as she reclines to sit again, briefly using Honeypaw as a post to alleviate the weight on her lone forepaw, that this isn't even all of their territory. They've had some stolen from them... Twilightpaw grimaces, her gaze only vaguely watching as oak trees shift to pine and beyond. Her tail whips once behind her, and her gaze tilts up to the trees, as if she will see the squirrel-cats above them.

Nightbird asks, questions. And after a long beat, Twilightpaw offers, "What use is climbing the trees?" It is, unfortunately, a skill she cannot harness so easily. Perhaps it is jealousy that spurs her, but the silver tabby waits regardless for an answer.

Ever-wide amber eyes narrowed uncharacteristically as Chickbloom stepped forwards, the coward regarding Nightbird with a mix of suspicion and fear. The she-cat had wished not to meet any of the warriors who'd caught her over the border. Fortunately, the whelp was perhaps the only one amongst that group who wouldn't do anything about it.

Chickbloom remembered his faux-fight with Tallstep, cheek still a bit sore from the other's sheathed-claw beating. The boy hoped the kindred spirit from across the border was doing well, but he had no similar sense of respect for Nightbird. The Scottish Fold may not have been one for confrontation, but that didn't mean he couldn't bad-mouth behind the border.

"S-Slatesnarl would've - y'know - he would've b-beat her if he hadn't t-tripped…" The baby bird scoffed to Anwir, making sure his voice didn't carry across the scent line. Chickbloom rarely showed distaste for another cat, but Nightbird rubbed him the wrong way. It wasn't what she'd done, more how she'd done it. The living doormat appreciated Tallstep, the thunderclanner's frank guilt at his crime coming like a breath of fresh air even as he escaped with their prey, but Nightbird and the rest had been so…mean about it.

If their meanness had an upside, though, it was that it kept Chickbloom from coming an inch closer. The coward looked again to Anwir and Silversmoke, waiting to hear if they should do anything.

〕SkyClan smells similarly to ThunderClan, Honeypaw noted. Forest-y scents that were ever so slightly different but with few overlaps. The pine trees scattered through their land was a far better indicator to where the territories split. Theirs was the last border to be visited today, and after all the walking Honeypaw couldn't wait to get back to camp and eat. Twilightpaw leans against them, their three-legged companion struggling to keep up with the pace. They don't mind the extra weight, but are nonetheless grateful for the break Nightbird offers when the raven-pelted she-cat sits down.

They pay no mind to the Skyclanners passing by. They are not antagonistic like RiverClan had been, and that in itself already sheds them in a more neutral light. Honeypaw already knew SkyClan was more welcoming to kittypets than any other Clan, even offering the special ranking of Daylight warriors, but what use was proving their worth in a Clan that so easily accepted them?

"Are they more open to attacks come nightfall, when their daylight warriors are gone?" There is no malice behind their words, simply curiosity. Having warriors that simply left after sunset just seemed like a poor idea.
