camp DON'T WANNA BE A BAD GUY;; gathering musing

‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚. The gathering was something that Moonbeam enjoyed for the most part, a time where she could hear the news from the other clans that she didn't get told during the moonly meetings of the medicine cats. This moon, though she wanted to attend, Moonbeam had stayed behind to make sure that those within her care would be fine. She had been assured that Robinheart would be and she knew that the others within her care would be as well if she were to attend, but still she worried. With so many bodies within the medicine den healing she couldn't help but decide to stay back in clan just in case something were to happen... just in case things were going to go south with one of her patients.

She sat at the mouth of her den, moss parted around her as head and shoulders as she sat both within and outside of the medicine den. With it being night there was no chance of light bothering those within as they rested or tried to sleep, and it made it so that she could watch for the clan's return if she so wished. Looking over in the direction of the fourtrees she'd hum quietly to herself, trying to figure out what was being said. She knew very little of what the other clans could say and could only think of the reactions of what could be said in regards to WindClan breaking the code, stealing prey and losing a clanmate to the gorge.

She'd get her answer though in the end, for as the medicine cat looked upon the moon, back straightening as she watched the clouds roll over it and a small frown etched itself to her maw. "Looks like they'll be home soon." Quiet were the words to anyone that was resting near her, ready to wait all night to hear the news of what happened. It seemed as though they'd be getting the news sooner than expected though. "Who do you think cause that?" She couldn't help but think that it'd be WindClan or ThunderClan, the two out of the other four that seemed to always be at odds with their own.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 It’s the night of the gathering, and Crabkit should be asleep. He could be asleep, tucked in close to his mother’s side and kicking idly at his littermates’ ears… but then he wouldn’t know what happened at the gathering until all the way in the morning! So the little tom sits leaned up against a small rock, his chin resting atop the smooth stone. His eyes blink heavily, sluggishly, on the verge of drifting off to sleep…

And then the sky goes dark.

A shadow falls over Crabkit—falls over the entirety of RiverClan’s camp—and the ginger tabby’s eyes snap open once again. Suddenly, he isn’t sleepy at all anymore. He’s fully awake, and fully concerned. Near the entrance to her den, the ghostly medicine cat remarks on it in a somehow calm voice. But Crabkit isn’t calm at all! "Moon-Moonbeam! The… the MOON!" The sun’s disappearance had been horrifying, sending the boy scattering into a hiding place alongside his mother. This… this is entirely new. And terrifying. "Why is the moon gone?" He cries, panic clear in his small voice.

Splashpaw knew she wouldn't be attending the gatherings for many moons coming - it just wasn't smart to. She's a secret from the other Clans in a manner of ways, and although she is allowed to experience the borders just fine, visiting four trees is most certainly pushing it. That is alright though, she thinks. Pebblepaw and Dizzypaw had gone, as had her mentor. They'll return with details and news and surely share with her, given that she gives them ample time to rest after the night's end.

She lingers outside for longer than most, still used to existing within the shadows. The clouds hide the moon and for a few long moments, she hardly notices the difference, still working on her weaving when other cats in camp squeak out their worries. Crabkit just about screams it, which pulls Splashpaw from her thoughts as she looks up and sees for herself the missing moon. Oh, dear... She hopes Pebblepaw and all of her friends are alright. Splashpaw has only heard that serious trouble has to happen at the gathering for StarClan of all beings to dismiss them.

"The moon will be back," she tries to say, but a nervous twitch of her tail betrays her worry. "Right, Moonbeam? They can't take it from the sky for the whole night, can they?" A childish wonder, truly, but a wonder nonetheless.

‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚. Ears flick towards the panicked voice of Crabkit, eyes quick to follow as the sun-hued tabby asks why and she's about to answer when Splashpaw moves in, speaking that it would be back and silently she nods her head in response. "I don't know how long it will be gone but it will be back." She'd answer, head nodding once more as if to confirm something to herself. StarClan could take the moon for the whole night if they wished, clouds covering over it as thunder rippled through the air, but she was also sure this was a warning - something had happened at the gathering and she couldn't wait to hear about it.

"When something bad happens at the gathering StarClan does stuff like this to warn the cats there. Fighting or the promise of things that StarClan doesn't approve of... it's sacred ground." She wasn't there when the place Sootstar sat upon had been struck with lightning - she was too young, stuck in the nursery that Crabkit now reside in - but she remembered the stories that circulated about it after the fact/ StarClan had been sending a message then and though Moonbeam didn't know what it had been then or what the message was now she knew that something had happened. "I'm sure any questions left over will be answered soon, I don't think they'd try to continue with the gathering this moon with that happening."

———————————riverclan | apprentice | she/her——————————
Turtlepaw had felt like kind of a hotshot around the apprentice den the past couple of moons. Snakeblink, her ever doting mentor, was a lead warrior which meant she got to tag along to almost every gathering he wanted to go to. Perks of the job and she reaped the rewards. One of her favorite feelings in the world was parading back into camp and telling everyone all the news. Who she saw, where she sat, and what the leaders said were very important things to report.

Tonight, though, she was confined to camp. Turtlepaw had found sleeping hard lately, and despite her pleas and reassurances, Snakeblink had decreed that she stay home tonight. As much as she wanted to pout and sulk until everyone arrived home, she was actually enjoying her evening of rest. The apprentice snuck in a quick nap after filling her belly and seeing off her clanmates for the night, and actually kept her eyes closed for longer than a couple moments.

Crabkit's confused squeals wake her from slumber and her first thought is Twolegs in the camp! After she scented the air and heard Moonbeam's reassuring voice, Turtlepaw emerged from the apprentice den with bleary eyes. She glanced up at the moon and squinted further. Oh, great. Someone really messed up tonight, huh? She hoped it wasn't Foxtail. She knew the warrior was nervous about being the deputy tonight. She wondered if he had said something that StarClan thought was super embarrassing.

"Aw! Something like this happened tonight and I missed it? Dizzypaw won't ever let me live this down," she whined, kicking dusty ground with her paw.
