'CAUSE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE BANK — The grizzly medicine cat had caught one of the kittens trying to explore his den but he manages to lure them away from his herbs and work area with the offer of a story or two. Once the healer herded the kits outside, he settled down near his den letting his body comfortably lay on the warm ground then hummed quietly in thought trying to think of what story to entertain them with. He could tell them about the great clans but believes that Burnstorm would want to tell that himself so he thinks to tell them of his departure to the mountains and beyond the territory, Gentlestorm offers a tired smile as he begins to speak "Now imagine a place far from Thunderclan, beyond the Thunderpath, and high enough to touch the clouds and stars." There's slight exaggeration to his words but the young of the clan enjoyed that type of stuff and they were far too little to nitpick at his tales so he continues and to put more emphasis would toss a leaf to the air only to catch it with his paw, "A place with snow everywhere with only the loveliest purple blooms brave enough to grow in this frigid cold. Cats bigger than you and me that feast on deer. Large, fierce birds that make owls laughable and have large talons bigger than a cats head." He unsheathed his claws to mimc the way eagle's talons curled when they caught onto their prey and he pauses to see how his owl eyed crowd was taking to the beginning of his telling of the journey, a smile present on his maw as he continues...

"And everyone wanted to find a different way around but we all knew that it would only take longer if we did. We needed to find the lungwort for our clanmates that we left behind at home. So, I took a step forward to follow Bobbie and said 'I'll follow your lead.' I was surprised that I was able to scale that cliffside considering how big I am." He motions to himself with an amused chuckle then glances to the sky wistfully for a heartbeat, "And she wasn't far behind me... Your grandmother, Little Wolf, was the bravest cat that I ever knew. And the both of us managed to climb, I watched a pebble fall from it and the fall seemed endless." His eyes are half opened as he continues to tell them about how they managed to reach the top of the cliffside thanks to the Skyclanners, his jaws part to let out a yawn, and he mumbles "At the end, my paw almost slipped and I..." His eyes close, his helm bobbing sleepily, and it doesn't take long until the storyteller finds himself asleep leaving his audience at a cliffhanger. How ironic.

/ please wait for @Dovekit to reply & any other kit can be there listening to him telling this story :]

Dovekit had heard of Meadowkit's venture into the medicine den and wanted to see for themself if Gentlestorm was truly poisoning his patients as the kitten's cousin claimed he was doing, and so had quickly gone themself into the den when they found the opportunity - or what they thought was an opportunity - to do so. Quickly they'd been found out however and Dovekit had been herded out of the den with the promise of a story and eyes widened as tail was held high, running out of the medicine cat's den before quickly spinning on chocolate paws. When Gentlestorm began his story Dovekit found themself quickly sitting down to listen, eyes and ears trained carefully on the large tom as he spoke.

They watched in awe as the leaf was thrown into the air and caught, as Gentlestorm spoke of a mountain high enough to touch the stars covered in snow - whatever that was - with cliffs that had to be climbed. They watched as the healer began to nod his head slightly and quickly face twisted into confusion and upset as Gentlestorm began to nod off, only to be fully asleep only mere seconds later. "Wait you gotta wake up! That's not fair you didn't finish the story!" The kitten complained as they stood up, moving close to Gentlestorm before paws were placed on the medic's side and they began to shake him the best tiny kitten paws could.

When Gentlestorm still didn't wake up from this, Dovekit found themself moving towards his stump of a tail, claws unsheathing as maw opened and they began to put their face down, ready to try and bite down, hard, on whatever part of Gentlestorm's tail they could get to. They had to know how the story ended, needed to know if he fell when he slipped and if he had died.

Beetlekit had naturally followed his sibling into the medicine den- but he didn't get as far, Dovekit soon ushered out by Gentlestorm. A big, but super nice and careful medicine cat who had a whole lotta love in his heart, but was quiet about it. That was the vibe Beetlekit got from him, anyways. His much darker pelt followed his sibling over, plopping next to them, shoulders touching as his eyes landed on the medicine cat.

He was listening, he swore. He definitely wasn't bored out of his mind and unable to really visualize the mountain. Still, the awe of the story touched the kit, his eyes half-moons and staring at the medicine cat. The sunlight here was really comfy and... oh, was the story over? It had gone all quiet. That was, y'know, until his sibling exclaimed loudly. Beetlekit jumped, his back rigid, before his eyes snapped toward Dovekit with a loud huff. "WHAT are you so loud for?" Then his support for his almost-nap was moving, and Beetlekit's ears flattened.

He stood up, nose flaring as Dovekit moved to attack Gentlestorm's tail. He'd rocket forward, aiming to bowl Dovekit over and roll on the ground. "Hey! Pick on someone your own size!" He cried out, attempting to batter paws against his sibling, completely unaware of the fact that the saying was normally in an opposite kind of situation.

-ˋˏ ༻ ❆༺ ˎˊ- Littlekit didn’t have much of an opinion on Gentlestorm, though- the patchwork kitten didn’t have much of an opinion on anything, yet.
All she really knew was that he helped cats with sour smelling plants, and he was real big.
When honey-shaded hues watch her sibling slip into the leafy-filled den, Littlekit is trotting forward on her own disproportionally large paws not long after, ready to inquire about what Dovekit was up to.
That’s how she ended up just outside the den, resting comfortably against Dovekit as she let herself become enraptured within the snowy healers story.
The mountains. They sounded ethereal, even more so than her parents made the forest itself sound.
Chocolate ears perk at the mention of Little Wolf, of course the young child was aware of who her grandmother was, the legend of compassion and bravery she left behind.
Shifting from her comfortable position, Littlekit cranes forward, wanting to hear more about his and Little Wolf’s journey.
Then… then he falls asleep!
Soft kitten features become scrunched with confusion and disappointment, but Dovekit is already leagues ahead of her, shaking the medicine cat before resorting to nipping at him.
Beetlekit cries out in Gentlestorms defense, but Littlekit only frowned for a moment- that couldn’t be the end.
As her littermates begin to tussle, Littlekit would stick her tongue out towards both of them, petulant as ever.
Taking matters into her own paws, the mottled kitten would step forward, lifting a forepaw cautiously before aiming to begin lightly tap the space between the tom cats eyes, who was bound to have already begun stirring, but Littlekit was in a hurry!
“You gotta wake up! I wanna hear more!”

Reactions: GENTLESTORM
Softpaw had been, admittedly, listening in on the story that Gentlestorm was telling to Dovekit and the other kittens - even if Softpaw wasn't a kit anymore, that didn't mean that her fascination with and love of stories had magically gone away when she'd been given the 'paw suffix.

For Softpaw, the Journey had been something that was so distant yet so near in her mind; she'd not been on it, of course, but she had lived through the turmoil that had existed at home while the Journey cats had been away. She'd had a fevercoat as a result of her father Spiderlily having gotten sick because of the widespread outbreak of yellowcough, and she'd been around when the rogues had attacked the already-weakened Clans. Stories then hadn't included the Journey, as it was still happening all in good time.

Hearing about it now, Softpaw couldn't help but feel motivated by the bravery of the cats that had undertaken such a task- and, like Dovekit, she was disappointed when Gentlestorm dozed off in the middle of his story, though she suffered this quietly and had gotten up to get back to work when Dovekit and the other kits had started to put up a racket.

"Shh, Gentlestorm is exhausted." Softpaw whispered as she approached the bunch, trying her best not to add to the ruckus that seemed intent on waking the medicine cat. She knew he'd been through a lot lately, with the wolves, deer, and everything in-between, and he desperately needed a break, even if the kits didn't understand. "Why don't... why don't we play the quiet game?" She suggested. who knew if any of the kits even knew what that game was, but Softpaw was doing her best.
