camp Dreaming of a white Christmas|| snow flurries

[ ༻❄༺ ] He had been greatful when the initial earky frost had finally loosen its grip upon them and things had begin to go back to normalcy despite the harshness that was brought onto them due to the blizzard and all. Yet, the lead warrior came to a pause when a tiny flurry of snow landed on his pale rosey nose making him blink in surprise to such thing. Of course he shouldn't be surprised due to it being deep into leaf-bare now but still Snowlark could not help but pause in his steps while everyone around him continued going on with their day.

The first thing that popped in his mind was a concern of another blizzard, something Shadowclan were probably not going to survive unless they wanted to continue putting strain and distress on their relationship between them and their neighboring clan, but watching more fat fluffy snowflakes fall peacefully between the pinetrees made him relax and take a soft deep breath and settling himself down where he stood. Perhaps it was the stress of his thoughts that had made him weary, yet he decided in this moment of break to watch the heavy snowfall of flurries with a slight smile on his lips. Despite it all, it was still quite a beautiful sight to take it all in.

"Can't believe only a moon ago the snow and early frost were making things difficult only for it now to look... peaceful" he said slightly, mostly to himself but not enough to where others could not hear him say it. He'd hope more would join him in experiencing this moment as well, if any other clanmates were willing to stop and take a moment to soak whats going on around them...

Burdocktail casts his eyes towards the heavens upon hearing Snowlark's comment. Flurries of snow fluttering, dotting the ground with pristine white. A beautiful sight, contrary to what some of his clanmates might believe. Snow is one of StarClan's gifts. A lovely spectacle to behold…

When they don't harness this gift in order to bring ShadowClan to the brink of starvation and hypothermia. Bitterness creeps up their throat. If Burdocktail had such power—and by the stars, they wish they did—they would only ever shroud the marsh in a gentle blanket of ivory. Perfect and worthy of praise.

He recalls chasing snow flurries with his siblings, laughter echoing through the marsh as they tried to catch them. That is how it should be remembered; not as a curse, but as a blessing.

"As it was intended to be," Burdocktail says, vocals even despite the warring of appreciation and acrimony within. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He lifts a paw, golden eyes following the descent of a flurry as it lands on his mottled fur. It melts quickly, leaving behind no trace of its existence. He flicks the lingering moisture away, warding off the chill with a rasp of his tongue over his paw.

Reactions: Snowlark.
a breath of cold touched her cream-colored pelt, eliciting a small gasp of panic before inquisitiveness took over. she peered over, wondering if someone was playing an elaborate prank, but there was nothing on her fur, except perhaps a small wet patch. as she sniffed into her fur, another touch of cold tapped her nose, and the kit yelped and jumped up, looking upwards seekingly. white flurries were drifting down, almost like rain but, well, not.

lostkit had never really seen snow, though she had heard from older cats that in the season of leafbare, the pelting rain was sometimes replaced by a gentler, but much more dangerous precipitation called snow. she had seen it a couple times in the moon before, but the flurries still took her by surprise until she realized what they were.

"Can't believe only a moon ago the snow and early frost were making things difficult only for it now to look... peaceful."

lostkit started, turning towards the voice -- a warrior she hadn't met quite yet, whose pelt almost matched the snow. he hadn't been talking to her, exactly, but she wasn't sure who he was talking to, and she was a bit too close to be able to politely turn away. and, well, she wanted to meet more of her new clanmates anyways!

"As it was intended to be. Beautiful, isn't it?

she perked up as a familiar voice drifted over, looking over her shoulder to see burdocktail sitting close by as well. "it's so pretty!" she agrees enthusiastically, bounding over to be a little bit closer. "does it snow a lot? is it gonna cover everything and then can we play in it?" lostkit's blue-green eyes had started lighting up at the very thought -- she'd only seen slight coverage of ground from it, but she had heard that sometimes it snowed so much that you could all but bury yourself in it, which sounded so fun.

"Whatever was left of the herbs in the marsh are sure to die now," Marblepaw sighs as she goes to join her Clanmates. She and Starlingheart had done their best to harvest what they could during the early cold snap, but after war and sickness had torn its way through their Clan, her stores had dwindled dangerously. Aside from the chickweed, at least, Marblepaw thinks; the smell of sunlit straw and moorland wildflowers creeps into her again, warming her despite the spiraling snow.

Still, despite her gloomy thoughts, it is beautiful. She can't find fault with Snowlark or Burdocktail finding something positive in the otherwise bleakness of leafbare. And it's cute, really, to watch little Lostkit enthuse over the sight.

"Is it gonna cover everything and then can we play in it?" Marblepaw blinks down at her, smiling. It does no good to be sour about it. ShadowClan will survive. StarClan has ensured that, with their omen about Ternstar. "It will. When it gets deep enough, I'll get some of the warriors to help you build a snow cat."
