DREAMS AND DEMONS [ ✶ ] ROEPAW

The thought that there are cats who reside in his clan that do not swim is a strange concept to him. From the moment he could walk it had been expected to at least step foot in the water, to graduate slowly from wading through the shallows to learning how to swim. He was born and bred for it with paws webbed between the toes, with a pelt that repelled water despite being long and plush. He knows that for everyone the skill did not come naturally, though. He had seen the way others flailed about, unable to figure out the right balance of kicks to keep balanced. And he knew some were even afraid of the water. It's understandable, really. The river was their great protector, but it also had the power to rage and to take. Too heavy of a downpour and suddenly she was a torrent, ready to sweep through everything in her path. On calm days, she was equally so, her waters soothingly lapping at the shores of their camp, her surface reflecting the sky above. It is on those days that he often finds peace in easing himself in so that he is almost all the way submerged, in kicking off the sand with his hind legs made powerful by moons spent playing swimming games with other kits. There had been one kit who had never joined in on these games that his green eyes find now as he slips into the calm river waters.

"It's not bad, the waters actually warm today" he calls to the apprentice who stands on the shore behind him. Roepaw. I didn't want to but he's dead... he's dead Graypaw remembers him sobbing into his mother's fur. Their situations may not be the exact same but isn't Graypaw a cat who would understand better than most what it is like to have paws coated in blood barely out of the nursery? It's what draws him to Roepaw now, what prompts him to attempt to get his den-mate into the water with him, the need to be closer with someone who is like him, to offer the support and understanding that Eveningpaw had offered to him to someone else. Pay kindness forward

His green eyes flash as he waits to see what Roepaw will do, a patient smile worn upon his soft features.

GRAYPAW RIVERCLAN APPRENTICE ; HE / HIM
LILYBLOOM X LAKEMOON BROTHER TO TBD ; MENTORED BY LAKEMOON
A plush coated apprentice with a pelt marbled in varying shades of gray and white. He has dull green eyes and a tall stature. Most of his personality can be described as carefree though some also say that unmotivated is a more than apt term. His trust and love is easily won through praise but he will do little work to receive it.
easy in battle + no formal training

There were few cats within the clan that Roepaw saw himself getting along with, whether it be due to their boisterous personality or simply their knack for getting into trouble he didn't really enjoy being near too many of the other apprentices but something about Graypaw had drawn the young tom to the other. Whether it be his overall kind demeanor or something else entirely he didn't know, but the small escape away with the other apprentice - even if it was simply something within the camp - was a welcome one away from his mentor and the dangers that lurked in the territory.

It's not bad, the waters actually warm today. The call breaks him from his thoughts and he looks to the marbled tom, soft frown pulling down at his lips for a moment as he moved towards the edge of the water, nose moving down to sniff at it for just a moment before a paw reached out to touch it. The furthest he'd ever gotten was four paws in, water lapping at his toes as it tried to pull him forth, pull him towards the middle where the water was deeper and the current ran strong to pull him under and drag him away from home. "W-why aren't you s-scared of it?" A simple question asked as trembling paws moved forward, going no further than he had in the past and likely wouldn't go further for a while yet. "It's d-dangerous right? It's why the other c-clans don't s-swim?"

It was possible too that the other cats in the other clans simply didn't care for the feel of the water, and where Roepaw didn't mind it much - it was hard not too when camp was surrounded by water and most cats who entered and left did so sopping wet - he just simply didn't like the feel of the current, the potentials of what could happen if a single paw slipped off algea and mud so close to where the water was so deep.
