pafp EASY NOW | camp

She remembers when Smokepaw was still nursing his own gnarled paw in times past, it wasn’t as crushed but he babied it all the same. She hadn’t paid much mine to whatever Dandelionwish had told him, she’d avoided the medicine den all together, avoided him and her mother to hide from the shame of what she caused. It was a different situation and she can say she cares far more for this little scrap of cream colored fur then she does her own littermate. She figured they must be growing bored of being stuck in that dank ole’ den for so long with only their overbearing aggressive brother for company. She hadn’t entered with an offer really more of a “get your butt up Sunflowerpaw your gettin’ to see the sun today” in her usual forceful fashion - she means well however and maybe they know that. She’s being gentle now as she walks slowly so they wouldn’t have to hobble to fast to keep up with her strides. Her shoulder rests near them she stands as close as she can so they can leech off her balance to keep themselves upright.

It’s a nice day out, blue sky shining above only a few puffy white clouds breaking up the span of clear blue. The dawn patrol seemed to have arrived back recently and she can hear the chatter and gossip of her clanmates from where they pad along. ❝Bet’cha missed bein’ out here feelin’ the wind in your fur and stuff huh?❞ she says aloud, it’s more rhetorical then not. ❝You’ll be back out runnin’ the moors with Wolfsong soon enough I bet❞ she’d add, it’s hopeful but they seemed to be getting better.

.°☀ AND IF IT EVER STARTS TO FEEL BAD, LITTLE FANG

Sunflowerpaw is surprised to see Firefang in the medicine den. She's not injured, and they're used to far more familiar faces coming to visit. She's not unwelcome, though; her advice in the face of other apprentices' cruel words had been far more encouraging than they had expected, and they certainly appreciate it. Her words to them now bear the same gruff bluntness softened at odds with their kind nature, throwing the apprentice off for a moment when she speaks. It takes them a moment, to realize what she's offering, to maneuver themself to standing so that they can hobble their way outside. They're not one for physical contant, but it's worth it in this case, they think, leaning into her shoulder anytime the pain gets too much or their balance threatens to give out. They do appreciate Firefang's help, even if her approach baffles them.

Sunflowerpaw is focused, as they make their way into camp, on balancing despite their wounded paw. They're starting to get the hang of it, they think. (They'd be able to get the hang of it more if Vulturemask would let them try to walk around on it.) There's a determined glint in their eye, a proudness in their posture, a liveliness to the healing apprentice that their impairment hasn't been able to leech out of them. They hum softly in response to Firefang's words, despite their diverted attention. They do hope she's right, they can't wait to get back out onto the moors.

Coming towards the center of camp, Sunflowerpaw gives a little nod of hello to each cat that they pass, an unprecedented show of friendliness for the typically reserved apprentice.
